Rui is upbeat, fun, and she adds lots of useful and amusing comments between the Chinese phrases. Her videos strike a good balance between Chinese and English - unlike so many that speak way too much English. I feel like this is an advanced beginner to intermediate level video, based on the vocabulary and the speed Rui speaks at. 太感谢了Rui and ChineseClass101!

03:45 - Answers here are varied, but most likely foreigners who are backpacking will likely leave their backpacks on because they probably won't be checking into hotels. Often hotels need to be checked in around midday, which is a major inconvenience for someone with a limited time to explore a city. Someone may for example be travelling into Beijing via a bus from an outskirting rural area, they may arrive in Beijing at 08:00 and will be scheduled to leave Beijing around 20:00 in order to keep on travelling. 12 hours may seem very limited for such a big city but its enough for some to grab some selfies in famous landmarks, try the food, and feel the culture. We had this problem when in Tokyo, you end up having awkward moments where you're in limbo of whether to carry your bags or lose time in waiting for hotels. Some people also do all their sleeping on night buses/ferries/trains, so they carry their bags everywhere.

This is a useful resource for learning Chinese but I am very much put off by the focus on American English. I'm from the UK and do not understand a lot of what is being said. I do realise that much of your subscriber traffic comes from the US but by no means all of it. Please give a thought for those of us that do not understand, for instance, the US education system and would not have a clue what elementary or high school covers. This is a major source of frustration for me and I'm sure, others like me.
    Thank you.

李思远 Actually she is referring to the Chinese school system, not the US school system, it just happens to be the similar.

If you’d prefer, I would recommend using an online site called ‘HelloTalk’ if you haven’t heard of it before, you’ll be able to find native British people and Chinese speakers to help you in real time. I’m on there too if you’d like to learn Mandarin!
