All my name brands are right here, Ollies, Big Lots, Smart Shopper, Aldis....I checked ahead of time. Coach purses? LOL That's just fine, we're enjoying Tractor Supply and Ace Hardware. I'm enjoying the quiet. We lived with with loads of Elite Shopping and Entertainment everywhere. I'm happy to be here. The little ma and pa restaurants are JUST FINE. I've lived close to an airport. NO thank you. I love farmers markets, flea markets (swap meets) and little community events. I love seeing trees and mountains. My daughter is trying to hike ALL the parks and trails, not "the park" or "the trail" Beautiful camping areas within miles, not hours. NO MORE hustle bustle for me!I I burned out on the "nightlife" a couple decades ago. Our house was rated with "moderate road noise." Trust me compared to a big city downtown it is very quiet here. Few sirens, or ambulances. I'm not sure what other people expected here, but I'm home.

I love living in the Shenandoah valley, and I am a real estate agent, who has been to 40 states and lived in 8 or 9 of them. Virginia is lovely, and the Shenandoah Valley is beautiful and large. sorry to hear someone doesn't like it, but thats just an opinion.

This is GREAT!!! What a great way to set expectations for those that move to a small town, and then find out how inconvenient it is. Then these idiots want to bring the crap they left and insert it into the community. No, the way to move to a small community is to appreciate the wonderful small town aspects but make that 2 hour trip for urban shopping and such.
It is all a matter of choice: wonderful human interaction vs.the big city where you are a nobody. which do you want? can you make it work?
The Shenandoah Valley is one of the most beautiful places on earth. For some, its the place to camp and visit and NOT stay! haha!!
[in the 70s, I went to college in Harrisonburg but I still live in crazy N. Va.Hey, if you like the black oppressive feeling living in a convenient place, then yea the burbs is the place for you!! ]
