Could you please talk about health care in the area. Number of available doctors and specialists. Hospitals (how many and what size) and their specialists. Waiting time for appointments. Example: my retired sister in law (in Delaware) got diagnosed with uterine cancer. She had to wait 6 weeks to get an appointment with a surgeon and 2 months after that before she could start her chemo treatment and had to drive an hour each way for her treatment. Thank you.

Beautiful home

I lived in a one-bedroom apartment in a house on Franklin Street. I would walk into town to this little tea shop. I've thought alot about Harrisonburg. It's where I was happiest and where I was really involved. And it's where I want to retire. I live in Vegas now, for work. And my parents are in AZ. But someday, I hope to return to the Shenandoah Valley.

My two children's grandmother and father is from Stuarts Draft. They both passed and now we are in a different part of Va. We had good memories and miss it alot. We know those mountains really well.

My husband and I are looking to move from Texas to retire in Virginia in the next year or so. Your videos have been such a wonderful resource for us to determine which area will be best for us. We're still undecided, but starting to narrow our search. Grateful to you both, Stephan & Lesley!

Thanks for the video, I live east of Harrisonburg, but partial to Harrisonburg because Thomas Harrison, founder of Harrisonburg was my 7th great uncle. Also, check out Charlottesville airport (CHO) for travel, only an hour from Harrisonburg and very convenient, cheap parking, very quick TSA checks.

I am in Staunton right now to scout out it and Harrisonburg for a possible move from Georgia. You got me at the end of the video when you said the humidity isn't as bad. The summers here (about an hour north of Atlanta) have gotten almost unbearable and I grew up here so am used to the heat. We call the humidity here "the air you wear" because it feels like you're wrapped in a blanket of heat AND moisture and it makes it hard to breath! I may be giving y'all a call soon. Hello, what is Augusta County like after Hurricane Helene? What is the prevalence of natural disasters; floods, fires, hurricanes, tornados there?

NOVA, like DC is an area of Northern Comfort and Sothern Effiencience. It has neither of either favorates. I mostly grw uo in NOVA (1st grade on (FFX Co)) and live in Starrord Co, so I know what I am talking about.

I lived in Northern VA for 10 years. I loved it. The traffic was bad and cost of living was high, but it was worth it.

Crozet has a big overdevelopment issue.

Just FYI the mailing address for this area could be Staunton but it would be considered Greenville or Mint Spring by the locals.

No. FIxer-Upper on 3 acres is going be like 600k+, with an additional 200k in repairs. Maybe back in 2019 when that house was probably worth 200k. Nice views though.

Also, it is The Shenandoah River...not the Shenandoah Valley River.

Nice video, but The Shenandoah Valley is ONLY the area west of The Massanutten and east of North Mountain. Anything south of that is The Great Valley of Virginia. The east side of The Massanutten is Page Valley and Fort Valley is nestled on top of Massanutten Mountain. Winchester is the north end of The Great Valley of Virginia. The internet has caused this phenomenon because you can make money confusing tourists into believing that they are going to The Shenandoah Valley, when they are really going to Staunton or Luray or even Fort Lewis (which is in the mountains...not even a valley.)

I love your video. There is a yoga retreat center called "Yogaville" located by Charlottesville. If a person wanted to buy a lot and put a manufactured home between Charlottesville and Yogaville - how difficult would it be? How much would a lot go for? What are the county rules for manufactured housing. Thank you for your help. I am 60 years old that loves yoga and also wants to be close to a small city :).

Staunton does suck. There’s nothing here to do unless you’re into theater. There’s not even any good restaurants or things to do.

I moved to Staunton in April 2022, fell in love with the Shenandoah Valley the year prior when I vacationed in Staunton. Thank you for talking about The Oak Grove Theater I never heard about it before.

Moving to Harrisonburg in 3 weeks! I can't wait!

It must be better than Staunton for sure. My friend moved there and is a really nice man and his neighbors have harassed him, stolen from him and damaged his property many times. Finally had one man arrested just today and the woman, who may have mental health issues, is finally under a restraining order. My wife and me were considering Staunton as a place to retire but now absolutely no way. Pretty town but it is very creepy with some natives who apparently hate and harass any newcomers from outside their little valley world. Off the list but sadly can’t afford Crozet or the nice and safe areas of Chapel Hill or Hendersonville, North Carolina.

This guy knows exactly what he’s doing and who he’s trying to keep out of his area lol and I don’t blame him!
