It's not just consistency. Many times, it's also decision-making. You can be as creative as you want. But if your decision-making is poor, that doesn't matter.
And Dustin Brown, same issue, great creativity but only went past round two of the slams just once, it's a trade off, either you want to be orthodox to get to the top like Djokovic did or you want to have fun and entertain but never get that far ranking wise. Best example of someone who managed both was Gael Monfils, he did get top ten despite being a trick shot player. This guy did manage to get to 13 though so he was no slouch.
Unorthodox? Yes. Creative? Yes. But in my book Dolgo was fearless. He couldn't care less who was across the court. You can almost feel him sinking his tennis fangs on the opponent. Crazy coincidence that the title also says "what happens next is CRAZY" just after that. Almost as if it was referring to Djokovic's comeback from Dolgopolov's toying with him. Almost.

Look at this. Djokovic doesn't hit the ground strokes harder than many players or definitely not his serve. He hits them hard enough when needed. He wins on placement court savvy and athletic movement along with strong mentality. It's low low percentage for an opponent to play conventional tennis against him. So maybe Fed and Rafa can when they're on. I would always play eccentric against him like a Dustin or Dog or Kyrigos cause that gives you a higher percentage of a win. Though still low😂. Pete Sampras used a second serve about as fast as his first many times cause he knew the aces and service winner and weak returns would override his double fault by a big margin. That can be looked at as unorthodox too.
