Best example of someone who managed both was Gael Monfils, he did get top ten despite being a trick shot player. This guy did manage to get to 13 though so he was no slouch.
Unorthodox? Yes. Creative? Yes. But in my book Dolgo was fearless. He couldn't care less who was across the court. You can almost feel him sinking his tennis fangs on the opponent. The big big difference between this guy Dogolpov and virtually ALL THE NEW GEN , is he played an aggressive & instinctive attacking game; where is 99% of the New Gen players don't - there games all look like they came off a production line
Tennis is changing bruh, dont assume that if you play aggressive you can take over. The growing popularity of semi-western grip makes baseline games longer. Look at Shapovalov, plays aggressive and tons of unforced error.

Dolgopolov was a very good player and did play like this quite often in his prime. I loved his game and wish I could have got to see him play for a few more years but if I am not mistaken health issues shortened his career.

He wins on placement court savvy and athletic movement along with strong mentality. It's low low percentage for an opponent to play conventional tennis against him. So maybe Fed and Rafa can when they're on. I would always play eccentric against him like a Dustin or Dog or Kyrigos cause that gives you a higher percentage of a win. Though still low😂.
