Nerves of steel: from three break (and match) points down at 0-40 on his serve to then just sweep aside Djokovic winning (I think) 13 of the next 16 points was just amazing.

I feel this match was one of the most important match of 2023, only after the French Open and Wimbledon Final. This match marked Jannik Sinner as a proper front runner of GS title in 2024: three mp down, facing the greatest, and your whole team count on him. It doesn't get much more intense than this, and Jannik produced some magic to conquer it. Then the rest is history.
This is a match that I will remeber for a long time.

Even more than the Wimbledon Final in 2023, this was the most hurtful defeat of Novak against the new generation, and not only convinced Jannik about the fact that he was destined to become the best, but it put a considerable dent on Novak’s mental fortitude.

I think after the ATP Finals lost, where Djokovic hammered Sinner, Sinner decided that he will do absolutely everything to destroy Novak next year and he absolutely did so, overturning Djokovic's match-points here, then absolutely annihilating Novak at AO, without giving him a single break-point, and then later in the year, outlasted Djokovic in his own game, forcing uncharacteristic net plays from Novak, handing Novak his only loss in the Shanghai Masters finals

This year, Sinner has been able to prove to the world he is above every other player at the moment. He is a mental beast and has a style that allows him to win even when he plays below 70%. However, we also have to note that he was able to crush the rest of the tour because of a poor level from other players : Medvedev's decline needs to be studied, Zverev is a massive choker, Fritz (even if he managed to improve a lot) has limited talent, Alcaraz only peaked 4 months between Indian Wells and the end of summer, and of course Djokovic was only focused on the Olympic Games. the old days when Tsistipas was a contendant to win are gone, and Rune is still not at the level everyone thought he would have.
Still, well done to Sinner for this incredible season. Let's find out how he managed 2025, with his suspension which will arrive soon or later, with Djokovic who will want to raise a 25th GS trophy, with Alcaraz who managed to beat Sinner 3 times out of 3 in 2024, and with (hopefully) better players in the top10 (like Draper maybe...?)

He still lost the ATP Finals to Novak around the same time as this Davis Cup match. As much as people like to say this, he only dominated a fading Novak in the AO semi. Shanghai was close, with a tight first set tiebreak decided by a few UFE and a long deuce exchange for the crucial Sinner break in the second. 2 matches, one against a clearly subpar imitation Novak, and a second close one. I suspect this year we'll be seeing more than 2, as long as Novak has the motivation to play. As good as Fritz and Zverev have been, Novak is still the World #2 on all surfaces for me (Sinner is 1 on HC, Alcaraz is 1 on clay and grass).

Sinner was at his prime from November lat year to February this year. His level decreases during the clay season tournaments (fatigue, extra sportive issues, surface adaptation), then Sinner got his confidence back when he got back to play on hard courts. I am not sure if he plays better now. Surely he plays easily as now everyone is completely disgust to lay against a guy that dominant but Sinner doesn't play better than last year, it's just overall the other players who plays much worse (Dkojovic absent, Medvedev worse, Zverev mid, Alcaraz ?,...)
