Guys I see all the comments saying that Shane is a kiwi. I’m aware😂. I was opening with a joke to try to scare some kiwis. It appears it worked too well😂😂😂 apologies I think?

Those Kiwis are a sensitive bunch bro 😂
      Don’t worry about them.
They don’t have the same sense of humour as us Aussies, especially when it comes to their quality race drivers 😂😂😂
Us Aussies claim them all 😂🇦🇺🇳🇿🇺🇸🍻🍻🍻

      I have a few non-SVG superscars suggestions:
Lowndes vs Skaife - Sanddown 2005 - same track as that first clip, same conditions, different drivers - final laps chasedown, but better.
Lowndes vs Tander - Bathurst 2012 - similar chasedown, but on Bathurst, teammates share a single pit area in Supercars, so Lowndes was stacked behind his teammate 4 or 5 times in that race, putting him at the back each time, and each time he had to fight his way back to the front, with a final monster chasedown of the leader at the end, amazing stuff.
Whincup vs Mostert - Bathurst - final laps is amazing (2016 I think).
I'd recommend Lowdnes highlights in general, he's the most popular Supercars driver of all time (some may argue it's Peter Brock, who was Lowndes mentor), and would have easily been the best if he took the engineering side as serious as his teammate did - he had a multiple champion teammate in the late 90s who went on to win 7 championships - Mark Skaife - who couldn't work out how Lowndes was beating him in the same car when his entire engineering feedback method was drawing smiley/frowney faces on a printout of the track to mark how well the car was setup for each corner.

What you were missing for his pole lap is that Pukekohe means so much to NZ drivers.
Also, you missed all the sway bar adjustments and brake bias adjustments throughout the lap. Each corner he optimises the car for it. Much harder than just one setup and go.

For context that Pukekohe New Zealand round was the final Super cars round ever held there. Shut down due to noise complaints. Puke is Shanes home track as his parents stay 30mins ish from it. The Jason Richards Trophy (NZ race legend who passed) was given to the winner of that round also. Thats why there was so much emotion behind it for the kiwi.

@ccorbett88 I'm still sulking about Pukekohe being shut. I flag marshalled there in the eighties when Brock and Johnson were pedaling their group A cars. The drivers all loved the track, it was the breeding ground of some of our greats, McLaren, Hulme, Amon, Richards, Radisich, Dixon, Murphy, Mclaughlin, Van Gisbergen, Hartley and many more. Hang in there Western Springs, don't let the same thing happen to you. Kyle Larson has raced there BTW.

Nicolai, it's well worth watching some of the historic Supercars races in their entirety. The Australian coverage of the series is probably the best coverage of ANY racing series (in the English-speaking world), largely due to the people involved.
The lead commentator, Neil Crompton was a racer in the series, but also had a parallel career as a motorsports TV presenter, covering the history of multiple series. To say he knows his stuff is an understatement.
Mark Skaife, the color commentator is a 3-time series champion, ex team owner, and at one point literally OWNED THE SERIES. Allegedly breeds moths in his wallet...
Then there's the pit lane reporters. Mark Larkham is the lead technical guy, again an ex racer, but also an ex team owner, and a very successful talent scout. When the TV channel wanted to fire him, the fans rose up in protest...
Chad Naylon is the female eye candy. He was a presenter who got the job by looking good, only to fall in love with the sport & motorsport in general. He's gone from knowing nothing, to being immersed in the history and lore of motorsports by his own choice & hard work.
Riana Crehan is the male eye candy. She was the final "Miss Supercars" model, who, again, fell in love with the sport, fell in love with a driver, and worked bloody hard to learn & earn her position in the sport.
Garth Tander is the new boy to the crew. Ex Supercars Champion, has a vast knowledge and experience in motorsport, and is well able to talk coherently about it. Has been known to pop into the commentary box during races he was competing in to help out on commentary. OK, that was during the Bathurst 12 hours, but still...
Then there's the camera crew. They have a long history of technical innovation that EVERY televised racing series in the world owes a MASSIVE debt to. In car cameras were invented by the cameramen of the ATCC (the fore-runner of V8SC), as was the ability to talk to the drivers during the race. On-car cameras, and the miniaturization needed for such to work, were another Australian innovation. Cameras under the car to see tyre loading & suspension movement, etc, etc. Integrating the use of 3D models of the cars into the broadcast, to show what part broke in a shunt. Heck, even live telemetry from the cars being tied in to the broadcast to show speed & G-loading was an Aussie innovation.
It is said by many that Australia (and NZ) punch well above their weight when it comes to driver talent, but that's nothing when compared to their technical innovation in the TV coverage of motorsports. Whenever you see a new camera angle on a car or track, there's usually an Australian who thought it up and developed it into a working, broadcast ready form.

SVG and Scotty are great mates, He pinned Scotty in his car sure... But have a look what he did when Scotty ended up on his side in the fence at Gold Coast.

"Bumping" shows lack of car control/skill. you are not meant to make contact in any form of motorsports. i know what bump drafting is but thats beneficial to the car you are bumping too, pushing them forwards obviously. in a race with actual corners you want to keep that straight line advantage to yourself, to beat them to the next braking zone/corner.

Sorry, I couldn't watch this, there was too much talking for the sake of talking, instead of listening to some of the commentary..

@@NikolaiPCulp I actually wanted to hear what you thought of it all, but not just talking over the whole thing just for the sake of it.

Like that you teach us about Nascar, drivers, cars, races and venues. Don't worry about SC's we have seen all that stuff. Its been a great learning curve for everything. Question 9 races left from Chicago and 6 slots open for top 12 is that right? Gonna be interesting. I now know Karl Larson , Austin Hill (great driver 2 wins and plenty top 5's) and others love it from NZ

Correct. Full time drivers with a win are locked into the playoffs. Playoffs start at Kansas I believe. Glad you are watching nascar more and appreciating some of the drivers as well! Hope all is well in New Zealand
