    Van looks good. You should get a product to bring the clear plastic on the lights back to new. Seen it done and for a cheap fix it will make your van look even better.

      Autosol metal polish works well on plastic headlamps to turn them from yellow to clear

    Boiled linseed oil also works well at restoring black plastic trim - it lasts a lot longer than the stuff that's usually sold for the job.

    If it molded up bad, spray it down with 10-15% hydrogen peroxide. I buy mine at 30% from a pool chemical company and dilute it. if you can't find it there try a beauty supply company. they will usually have 10% for bleaching hair. Bleach or sodium hypochlorite will work but the smell is overpowering and it also needs to be a higher concentration than the normal laundry product or else the mold will come back. Hydrogen peroxide decomposes into water so they are no harsh fumes and it seems to soak in deeper.

    Easiest and cheapest way to black your bumpers and keep it for a long time - polish them using dubbing!

    massive aesthetic upgrade with that stuff. Right or wrong I always think turning up to a job in a tidy vehicle does no harm...

    The wheels could be refurbished for about £40 a wheel.

    Plastic wrap on green oak isn't a good idea. Those pieces need to be stickered and left in a cool, dry place out of direct sun light. If you must cover them just put a 1/2 sheet of ply on top, (also separated by stickers).

    Given the quality of your work, especially the bespoke kitchen you did etc... I'm wondering if you are undercharging... No need to reply... Just an observation...

    Mold grows in the dark with moisture and food. If you had them in the sun, they likely wouldn't have been moldy :)

    It looks like the wheels would benefit from spraying silver yourself with a rattle can.

    You can also use a hot air gun to go over the plastics. This brings them back to new and you can buy a cheap one for around £15-20.

    Van looks great, Olly. No brainer to me, too. I'll need two bottles of that restorer, lol. Cheers for that. Tony

    Use oak off cuts to make stickers. Dissimilar wood can stain.

    you pretty much get the same effect, if you just hit the plastics with a heat gun and then put some regular motor oil on it.

    • @Jonathan_Doe_
      @Jonathan_Doe_ ปีที่แล้ว

      Heat gun usually ends up a streaky mess after a few months. Autoglym bumper and trim gels the way forwards. Great on door seals too, and it smells lovely.

    I confess I have not watched the entire video yet but it is possible to get similar results with a heat gun.

    • @BradshawJoinery
      @BradshawJoinery  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ahh, I prolly should have mentioned I used the heat gun method on my old van, and I can 100% recommend this product over the heat gun, there is no comparison when it comes to quality of finish!

      Yes, you can do the same with a heat gun - I have not done a bumper but I have done side mirrors with a heat gun and it worked perfect - but to be honest if the chemical treatment works (does not fad in a few months) then if is a good deal.
