Tucker Carlson let Putin talk mostly uninterrupted for around 2 hours and just sat there looking like an eager puppy. That's CNN (formerly Fox) journalist Chris Wallace's take on the interview. Great metaphor, eh?
I would surmise that the new general will take a more offensive strategy. Zaluzhny was taking a positional, defensive, attritional strategy, but such a position could only be effective for a limited time. He will try to take the initiative, use military deception and take destruction of Russian logistics and fuel supplies to another level.
Zaluzhny tried to preserve manpower (soldiers' lives) rather than engage in meat wave attacks like the ruSSian do, and presumably Syrsky ( Cheesey?) might do as well.
Speaking of regional security, the guest's expertise, I am baffled at the lack of concern about that in Germany by almost anyone you ask. The average person just has no desire to look into where the Kremlin plans to go next if it takes Ukraine. Germans have internalized the "do no harm" part completely, but do not yet seem willing or capable of thinking about what to do if someone else is doing harm. It's literally deer in the headlights.

Dear Maria and Jonathan, this was an incredible conversation. It's very important to dissect the Krim and Donbas myths Russia spreads compulsively. I hope the shake up in the Ukrainian military leadership is for good reasons. Unfortunately I have some doubts about it. Zalushny is a great commander. Zelensky is a great politician, but a green shirt does not make him a soldier.
Zaluzhney (sp) removal sounds like policy issues in conflict, but what do I know. Extraordinary interview!!!! thank u both! yes, the 'green corridor' in Donbas was a tragedy AND the most profound type of treachery possible & showed that Ru was an absolutely malign entity that needed to be pushed back against by all good countries, and/but that didn't happen. We americans, many of us, have been writing to our gvt officials about this and about the war since '22, and have not gotten far enough obviously. We have A-10 aircraft retiring right now, which are the ideal plane, or the main ideal plane, for Ukr going forward, if there's also adequate other systems and assets and 'so forth' and possible 'other assistance'. The fact that we americans and the british have helped in a major way to put Ukr military and civilans at increased risk for the past 2 years, by definition, also means we have an obligation to do the wise and righteous thing from here -on, which appears to be the sort of MUCH ENHANCED arming and 'ableing' of Ukraine. I found the pootler interview to be more of an indictment against his invasion. I don't think it helped him much. Also, i was actually quite impressed with Tucker pressing him and asking him uncomfortable questions. I wasn't expecting anything but softballs.
And russia is doing so well? Remember the war, excuse me, the special operation was supposed to be over almost two years ago, and some 400,000 russian casualties less. By the way where is the admiral in charge of the black sea fleet, and the Russian general chief of staff?.
Republicans and Trump will support Ukraine. It’s just domestic politics. Trump will pivot to Ukrainian aid after election once corruption issues are resolve. All my Republican representatives support more aid. Only a small group of the party doesn’t’. The party needs these people to win. If republicans get a bigger majority, they will push for more support. I’ve seen it happen before in both parties. Glory to Ukraine!
@@carolwilliams8511 Today I watched a video of a very intelligent Russian journalist who said that Zaluzhnyi didn't listen to Zelenskyi, that he does only what he feels is right. And therefore Zelenskyi fired him.
Honestly, blaming the West for not arming Ukraine beforehand, is a bit over the top. I mean, how would we know how Ukraine would react? What if they would just welcome the Russians like the 1939 Anschluss of Austria, where the calculus in Wien was -" we got an Austrian Chancellor, we got to place our people high up, so we pull the strings of the new empire.". What if the combined armies of RU, UA and BY would have stormed Tallin or Vilnius with western weapons, among other kit? That would have been a risk nobody wanted to take. The brits were the first to place their bets that Kyiv would stand, and soon the civilized world followed. It was just self-preservation, both political and moral. Albeit, at the expense of Ukraininan lives.
Because they’ve been fighting since 2014. That’s 10 years of evidence, if we had 1) bothered to focus and 2) not been influenced by Russian threat and propaganda.
I am an American and retired military and I think you mistake Trump and what he will do or not do. Trump will not abandon Ukraine. Joe Biden is a weak leader and has held up what Ukraine needs to win. Trump will not do that.
If this is true I will be surprised. Pleasantly so. And it will help revise my opinion of the man. As Boris Johnson's stance on Ukraine raised him in my estimation despite his domestic mess ups. Ukraine is my litmus paper of the worth of today's politicians.
Trump obviously is rooting for russia. There is no doubt about it. Why? Because he feels more at home in the company of authoritarian dictators than in the company of democratically elected representatives of the free world.
I would love to think that you are right, but every every statement Trump has made so far about both Ukraine, and for that matter NATO does not fill me with optimism.
I'm a Canadian and believe it's wishful thinking that Trump will do an about-face and support Ukraine... IMO - and this is not a jab @ the GOP - Trump is crippling the party for his own personal gains... he's a delusional liar that should be locked up for what he's done... the man isn't going to make America great again just as Pulter isn't going to make Ru great again.
Please, enough already with the 'Putin interfering in U.S. elections' nonsense--we are quite capable of choosing between the 'High Popalorum' and the 'Low Popahirum' on our own. The truth is that Ukraine is 20 years too late to the party.

I found the pootler interview to be more of an indictment against his invasion. I don't think it helped him much. Also, i was actually quite impressed with Tucker pressing him and asking him uncomfortable questions. I wasn't expecting anything but softballs.
But it's irrelevant
The audience for this interview was US voting public maybe even some European s
And Putin s power base is still Russia and Eurasia

Ukraine is getting seriously battered

Do you believe that? I so hope you are right. I have many doubts.
Trump will be in jail before the next election the way it’s going for him.
What corruption? Trump was corrupted by Putin.
100% *NOT* true.

That’s not correct Zelenskyy has stated how he wants the military to be with the clear implication that Zaluszny wasn’t doing it
Zele is a four-time dodger who has a better understanding than a general...
There’s more to this story I think. There may be an interesting task awaiting The general.
@@SiliconCurtain....yes like peeling an onion....
Far more to it than that. Zelensky has to speak to world leaders and 'sell' Ukraine to the allies.
Trump is already holding up help via Johnson.
Just another ruzzian troll providing the debunked nonsense that ruzzia never interferes with foreign elections....ruzzia spends billions of dollars in election interference around the world.....

What a passionate propagandist! - while Ukrainian troops have been suffering such awful losses. How much death and suffering do you two want for your version of the myth? The lack of conscience on both sides is almost inhuman. But someone can make a career scavenging on this heartbreaking situation🇺🇦
It’s your comment that is disgusting. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine did not ask to be invaded and is fighting for its very existence.
