Joyce Edwards already has a WNBA body, and she hasn't even played a day of college basketball yet. What the Gamecocks are gonna have down in Columbia this season ain't even fair.
Joyce has been the MVP of all these all-star games, yet ESPN ranked her 3. Sarah Strong should be re ranked to 10 & Joyce 1. Jazzy Davidson & Zakiyah Johnson are SC leans.
Y’all are haters lmao. Sarah was ranked 1 way before she committed to UConn. She’s just on a minute’s restriction due to a late season injury. Just finding reasons to hate since she’s going to UConn. Also the high school season has been over. There’s no more ranking. Y’all can uplift Joyce without trashing Sarah. The same fans chanting “we want Sarah”. The jokes write themselves
@@bennybenson5 Sarah is weak and injury prone which fits Uconn perfectly. She will be another Azzi Dud, straight garbage. On the other hand, MVP Joyce will terminate all the competition while SC goes back to back to back. Suck it chump.
It seems every 3-4 years, South Carolina has a local (state) player who is really elite. I attribute this to these girls growing up and watching Dawn Staley's teams. I wonder if Dawn was not the coach if the talent in SC would be as deep. I bet not. It's an interesting phenomenon.
That’s a fair statement. But women’s basketball in South Carolina has always been decent. Ivory Latta is probably the last great one in SC that went elsewhere. Sarah Strong’s mom Allison Feaster got away as well as Teresa Jeter who went to Tennessee for 2 years. But the midlands area around Columbia has had an explosion of women ballers in the last 10 to 15 years. Alaina Coates, Aja, Ashlyn Watkins, Fulwiley, and now Joyce.
I have to call bs on the minutes restriction claim I am seeing in the chat. That’s nothing but a theory. Yes. Strong did not play in the Jordan brand classic as a precaution. But that was months ago. She participated in summer session at UConn. And Geno mentioned nothing about a problem. She was participating in everything. And according to Geno is even better than they thought. They were winning games at this tournament by 100 points. It doesn’t make sense for her to even go if she needs to be on a minutes restriction. Not buying it.
You're right that based on the minutes she played there wasn't really a restriction but Geno did say that he asked the USA coaches to not play her as much.
The amount of hate for Sarah is crazy to me. Sure, Joyce showed out. But Sarah was amazing as well! Plus adding to all of that. The competition was soooo easy. Obviously, a post player is going to demolish other teams who might not even have a player over 6 feet. I feel like no one these days are able to enjoy multiple players from different teams and they have to find someone to hate on. Joyce is going to pop off and be great at South Carolina and Sarah is going to be amazing for UConn. Please stop acting like both can't happen people....
Just wait on it….Geno bout to have people eating their words. I trust the coach that has coached the most #1 players. I don’t think he signs a five year extension if he didn’t think strong was a superstar. Sarah’s skillset didn’t fit the style of play this USA team played.
Im definitely a SC fan but Sarah stood out to me right away. That style of play did not play to her strengths. I noticed her high IQ immediately. She also is very unselfish player. All people look at is scoring and that competition was so bad, I could've gotten a couple of buckets. My first words after watching Strong on the court were, "She is the female Magic Johson". If she stays injury free she will be another great Uconn player. She really stood out to me.
Also Bascoe from Canada impressed. She is headed to Villanova. It’s too bad Olsen and Dalce are gone. She will likely be on a bad team. But she should be able to put up big stats as a freshman.
First, been watching basketball for close to 70 years and saying that as far as recent history this is one of the worst coached national teams I have seen in recent memory, undisciplined, sloppy and often just plain chaotic. It took an uber talented team of players to overcome such miserable coaching and win the gold - kudos to them. Next time either Ivey or Fernandez as the head coach. Second without a doubt the best player I saw out (I am a UConn fan so literally no dog in the fight) was clearly Sienna Betts. Her stat line alone was beyond as a whole everyone else’s on the team, then add in her impeccable defense and clearly she is the MVP of the tournament. SMH As far as ranking them one to six - no opinion other than Betts being clearly the best there is out there.
Unfortunately it would be unfair to comment on these players bc I haven’t seen them play. Plus I’m more interested in seeing them play once they are in D1. B2S what’s wrong with criticizing these players if they deserve criticism while playing at the U18 level.
I’ve watched every U18 game and Kayleigh Heckel is not good and she has tendency of ball hogging 5’9 and all she tries to do is drive even tho she get blocked every single time she go up and she keep doing it instead of passing the ball to the Bigs who did way better job
I would like UConn to land Jazzy. I think their class is looking weak otherwise. And I say that even with the assumption that somfai is a lock. Heckel is one to keep an eye on. I don’t think she is Hannah Hidalgo though. I have no idea what kind of college player she will be. And I definitely don’t know if she can make an impact as a freshman.
She’s not good theirs but so much she can do at 5’9 and she loves driving to paint like she’s 6’3 she needs to play a lot more like how Hannah Hidalgo did at 5’6 as a freshman
So far Jazzy doesn't have UConn in her finalists so its not looking to bright. Kelis looks like she could be very Moriah Jefferson like and hopefully Gandy is better than her ranking says.
That's always the excuse, UConn players are injured. Just please, someone please confirm that Strong was injured or not? Fact is, just like Back 2 Sports says, Joyce Edwards was the best player on that court, clutch player, great leader and the MVP. I didn't see ANY play that Strong made throughout the tournament that leads me to believe she's a top 10 recruit. Sorry...
That hasn’t been proven anywhere. And again. If it were true. Then she shouldn’t have gone. Cut the bs. This tournament doesn’t matter and it doesn’t reflect badly on Sarah.
