The railroad tracks is what gave us the freedom and security to visit and speculate about the everyday life of these early Americans.
Thank you very much for the great content

I see several comments about field trips when people were kids and their teachers took them to this place & I remember being taken there in the 5th grade in 1954 when I was a student at Pearl Stephens School in Macon! Good memories!

My grandparents brought me there on a trip in the mid-seventies from Southern New Jersey. I’ll never forget it. It was cool to see the place again. Thank you!

I went to the mounds in the early 1960s while in grade school. I think I was in the 3rd grade in Warner Robins, so that would make it 1963. It was a school field trip. I remember going into the mound, it had a railing in a circle to keep you out of the fire pit area. I am 68 now. It still fascinates me.

Hi Lynne, if you get a chance go back. They’ve made a large addition to the museum. And always a treat to return to the big Temple Mound.

I honestly can't thank you enough for taking the time to to make this extremely well made video of this breath taking place. I'd been planning to visit there with my kid and my brother soon and this video has literally made me so excited now that I'm having a hard time not jumping in the car and going right now..lol.. I'm part Cherokee and I've always felt such a connection to all of the tribes of Native Americans and their histories. The things that they were forced to endure and experience because of immigrants from Europe, seriously breaks my heart in such a way that I sometimes feel as if I am feeling their pain and loss personally 💔💔😢😢.. However, when I see people like u, who hold them in such high respect and reverence, I feel like maybe some of the hurt is being healed, and that those natives soul's that aren't at rest and possibly still linger in places like this one, may find their peace and eternal rest at last. So I am utterly grateful for the beautifully loving souls, such as yourself, because this world has been in short supply of such people for far too long. Please keep doing what you're doing because you have no idea how much you're helping this world in more ways than u know. MUCH LOVE AND INFINITE BLESSINGS TO YOU MY FRIEND 💖 💖🙏 🙏✌ ✌👏👏

You took the words out of my mouth. Choctaw and Cherokee. Been wanting to go for wfew years. Nobody around me seems to see the value in a visit... and I don’t drive anymore, UNLESS I have my car converted to drive using my hands

I wish we learned more about the pre-Columbian history of our country in school. So many Americans have the idea that it was just sparsely populated villages of tipis and totem poles from coast to coast. They don't realise there were walled towns with moats and watchtowers, massive earthen pyramids, brick apartment buildings, towns built of stone right into cliff sides, etc.

Me too. This is a great location and the museum provides a wealth of information about the area.
