Hello my friend from Sweden! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed this video. Take care and happy painting! 💕
This is the most beautiful hydrangea flower I have ever saw any one paint. It's MAGNIFICENT!!! I need a lot of practice for this one. It's amazing how you always manage to teach me something new. Take care and have an enjoyable weekend with your lovely family.💜💙🩷🖌
Penny, I consider this to be the highest of compliments, you have made my day! ❤️ You have always been so encouraging and kind to me and I think I’ve said this before, but I hope you know how much I appreciate you. 🥰 I’m so glad you like this painting. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to watch. Take care my friend.
Thank you for the easy instructions! It was fun dusting off this brush ... and actually learning to use it! I painted the hydrangeas three times, still need more practice, but I enjoyed it and was pleased to see my progress. Thank you again for this great video!
It is fun to learn how to use different brush types isn’t it? 🥰 I’m glad you’ve dusted off that brush to give this a try! 😅 And the more you practice, the better you’ll continue to get at it too, so I’m glad you didn’t give up on it! ❤️ I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment today, it means a lot. Take care and painting my friend. 💕
Absolutely gorgeous, great technique for the petals Liesl. Hydrangeas are my favorite flower. Will definitely be trying out your tips and tricks for this one. Thank you and have a great weekend, you're amazing! 🎨❤
Oh yay! I’m so glad you’re going to give this a try! 🥰 Hydrangeas are definitely a beautiful flower, this was a lot of fun to do. I hope you enjoy painting it also. I appreciate your support very much Madonna, Thank you. 💕 Happy painting my friend.
It's so beautiful and then when you added the details to the leaves and flowers, that just made it completely stunning. Thank you for teaching us these valuable lessons.
Happy Thursday Janice! It’s a joy to hear from you. I’m so happy you liked this painting! I do think the details are an essential part of any painting, it just takes it to that next level. 🥰 I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment today, it means a lot. Take care and painting! 💕
I was relaxed and paced as I tried to do this exercise, those aren't my usual feelings. I think this is the best I've done since starting to use watercolors. You are a great teacher. Thank you.
This makes my day to hear Gloria! 🥰 I’m so happy to hear you liked this tutorial! I had a lot of fun creating this piece. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment today. I hope you have a great day, take care my friend.

This is gorgeous! You are also a very good and encouraging instructor. The angle brush (or what I know as the "circle maker") is one of my favorite brushes. SO versatile. I've put my name on the "let me know when it's available" list for your brushes. I have brushes for oil and acrylic, as well as some I use and love for painting portraits on bisque, some I've altered for a particular look. But after watching some of your videos, I looked at my sets and I don't have a lot of "traditionally shaped" watercolor brushes, except for the one I use when traveling. I have a kit. Weird that I love watercolors very much and yet it's the medium I work in the lest often.
Yes! Isn’t the angle brush (“circle maker”… lol! 😉 I haven’t ever heard it be called that before!) so much fun?! I really enjoy using it, I need to paint more often with it. Thank you for your support, I truly appreciate it. Have a great day!
Hi Liesl, wow, how perfectly beautiful you painted the Hydrangeas using the angle brush! ❤. HeleneThe technique that you used is so interesting ! As usual, I have enjoyed watching you paint and have learned a lot. Thank you dear Liesl
I’m so happy you liked this! Painting with an angle brush can be really fun to do, I hope you’ll give it a try sometime. 🥰 Thank you for your lovely comment today, it truly means a lot. I hope you have a wonderful day Helene.
Wow, what a compliment! 👏🥰 I’m so happy to hear you liked this! It was sure fun to do. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment today. Take care! 💕
Just beautiful, Leisl! Your explanations are so helpful. I’ve tried painting hydrangeas but the painting got recycled 😂. Will follow your tutorial and try again. Your professor’s words “same, same same is boring, boring, boring” has really stuck in my head - thank you!
Oh dear! lol! 😅 That’s happened to some of my paintings as well! I hope you’ll try again sometime though because it really is fun to paint these. 🥰 I’m impressed you remembered my professors saying! It definitely comes to mind and helps me out sometimes. 😉Thanks so much for watching today, I truly appreciate you. Take care my friend!

@@lieslsartisticstudio I'm very grateful to you for sharing this beautiful way of transferring shapes to paper and painting it so beautifully. I am Brazilian. This is a gift for me. You are very generous!
What I love most about watercolor is that the water does the shading for you if you can keep control of the water and have a paper towel handy. Sure, you have to watch your pigment load, but you can always add more to an area that's too light, but (unlike many other mediums) you can also take away pigment if it's too dark. Just a little hint. If you use a water-soluble ink like the Pilot Razor fine tip, you can actually draw the outline with that. It will melt into the paint and create a shadow that's on the blue side and disappears completely. Or you can use it after the painting is dry to give some dimension or outline. You won't ever see it like you may a pencil, AND it can help you create the darkest of shadows while still being "watercolor-esque". Also, completely removable (relatively depending on the color) with water so you can start over, especially if you're painting on Yupo. Watercolor on Yupo? Absolutely, especially in conjunction with alcohol ink. Better yet, watercolor pencils. Options.
How fun Liesl! I love the hydrangeas! I don’t know if I have an angled brush or not. I'll go and see! 😊 These are beautiful, especially when you went in with the detail! Great suggestions on how to fill in the white spaces!!! The white centers really add that special touch! I so enjoy and look forward to your tutorials each week! Thanks so much Liesl! 😊💕 Have a great week end!
Yes, it’s amazing what the little details can do for a painting! I’m glad you enjoyed it, this was a lot of fun to do, and turned out better than I expected, so that made it even more fun! 😉 I hope you’ll give the technique a try sometime, I think you’ll enjoy it. I hope you have a great day Laina, thanks for everything! I truly appreciate you. ❤️
Oh, you’re so lucky! I have attempted two different times to get hydrangeas to grow in my yard, and they just don’t survive. 😕 It’s just not the right climate for them. They are such a beautiful flower aren’t they?! I’m glad you enjoyed watching this.

Liesl, thanks to your amazing step by step instructions I was happy and pleased with my first attempt after painting with you on this tutorial. I'm excited to try this with your new brushes coming out and may even produce a realistic looking Hydrangea for the first time ever after many attempts!! You are so gracious and encouraging and especially able to communicate exactly how to do what appears to be impossible at first look. Thank you so much!!!

First time through the painting I learned a lot about what to do better the next time. Got better with the angle brush on the second flower. 😋 I loved the darker paint to make the petals stand out. Almost therapeutic to paint those sections. Finishing my first attempt before I scrap it. Wonderful tutorial!
I’m so glad you gave this a try! 😉 Sounds like you’re getting better and better at it too. 👏 I’m very proud of your efforts. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment today, I truly appreciate it. Take care and happy painting my friend. 🥰

I’m glad you like it enough to want to give it a try! I hope you enjoy painting it as much as I did. Thanks for taking the time to watch today. 🥰 Take care my friend.
Amazing, Liesl. It really is a beautiful painting. I've had a couple of angle brushes for a while now but have never used them. This will certainly test me so thanks for very much for opening my eyes to this. I'd never thought of using it for stems and leaves but I will now. I've often used a dagger brush for reeds in landscapes etc. Thanks again for a beautifully presented video. Have a great weekend. 🥰
I think you’ll enjoy giving this a try! I use the dagger on occasion as well, but I really quite enjoy painting with the angle brush. 😊 Happy painting my friend.

Thank you Donna for taking the time to write this lovely comment, It means a lot to me. 🥰 I’m so happy you enjoyed the tutorial and I wish you all the best in your watercolor journey! Take care and happy painting! 💕
I am getting impatient to start this I must admit, I thought, I have one of those brushes I’m sure. Over 10 years ago when we packed to move here, I still had a roll of brushes packed in bubble wrap etc. I Found It , Yeh ! But the paint on the length of the brush was cracked and almost all cracked off. Oh what to do…I got some old nail polish and painted it…it’s nearly dry. Thanks for you help, I like your style 😊
lol! 😅 Sounds like you’ve had quite the time with that brush! I hope all the struggle is worth it when you get to finally give this painting a try! 🥰 Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment today, I truly appreciate it. Take care and happy painting!
I’m glad you enjoyed this! Using a round brush may make it look a little different, but it’s definitely worth a try! 🥰 Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Take care and happy painting!

to whoever reading this comment, I want to ask something. I have no interest whatsoever in painting flowers though I do like flowers (biology point of view). I don't understand why people loves painting flowers/pattern and I sincerely want to understand. I start watching some of the videos from this channel to try to get the feeling of painting, yet I still don't feel anything. So my question is simple: I am curious, what you guys feels when painting, what are your train of thought during the process, what do you achieve by doing so (aside from improving painting skills) ? Thank you in advance. Also, why do I ask, I just want to understand this one non-talkative person who likes this kind of thing.
Very interesting question….for me, artwork is therapeutic and relaxing. I get lost in my own little world of painting and the stresses of the day are let go. It also gives me a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction to take a plain, blank sheet of paper and create something out of nothing….if it looks good in the end then it’s even better! 😉
@@lieslsartisticstudio I see, therapeutic huh. in your own world. Hmmmm. in your own worlddd. In my own world and relaxing. Yeahhh so thats one way to see it. Thanks for sharing ur point of view.
I apologize for going to fast, because the stroke is just the same thing over and over again, I kind of got in the mode I guess. Here’s another tutorial that I show and explain it in a slower way if you’d like to see if it helps…. It starts at about 58 seconds into the tutorial. th-cam.com/video/plFC3AutfzQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=n_f_ylEeODnHW15C Keep in mind, the flower petals for the hydrangeas should be a little fatter or thicker (more of a square shape with four petals) than the flowers you’ll see in the tutorial link I just sent you. I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck. 🥰
Have you tried slowing down the video? Click on the ‘cog’ at the top and then choose ‘playback speed’. You then have a choice of how much quicker or slower you would like the video to play. Unfortunately it also slows down the talking speed but worth a try.

Your tutorials are so beautiful and helpful. Thanks a lot from Germany, Liesl. I love your name, oldfashioned bavarian style, like mine:Vroni 😂
Hello my friend from Germany! I have always loved my name, If you’ve ever seen the movie “The Sound of Music”, (which takes place in Austria) that is actually where my parents heard and fell in love with the name Liesl, and I was lucky enough to be the one they gave it to! 🥰 Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment today Vroni, I truly appreciate it. Take care my friend.

Thank you for this video. It is so inspiring, and I would love to try this technique. Also, watching you paint this, it relaxed me.

Thank you so much. ❤️ It’s always a joy to hear from you. Take care!

Beautiful work. How do I show interest in these brushes to order. There is no link. I'm in the UK
I’m glad you ask! 🥰 The link is in the description under the words, “Get Notified”, but here it is the link if you’re interested in looking into it. 😊 www.craftamo.com/collections/collaborations/products/liesl-x-craftamo

to whoever reading this comment, I want to ask something.
You are painting so fast that I can’t get how to do it or I’m just an idiot.
I apologize for going to fast, because the stroke is just the same thing over and over again, I kind of got in the mode I guess. Here’s another tutorial that I show and explain it in a slower way if you’d like to see if it helps…. It starts at about 58 seconds into the tutorial. th-cam.com/video/plFC3AutfzQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=n_f_ylEeODnHW15C
Keep in mind, the flower petals for the hydrangeas should be a little fatter or thicker (more of a square shape with four petals) than the flowers you’ll see in the tutorial link I just sent you.
