Having to miss something you enjoy due to illness is often discouraging, but giving yourself the time you need to rest & recover is vital. So there's no need to feel pressured if you have to miss, Liesl! It was nice to hear your heartfelt greetings upon your return.
The light branches which you painted first brought to mind a fuzzy grass which grows here in the Midwest. From the time the grasses are picked until long after they have been dried, they make a lovely bouquet, especially when accented with other flowers (paired with summer blooms, they look softly striking & serene, while with Christmasy florals, they look white & wintry). An elderly gentleman from my church once gathered some as a bouquet for us, and he was so pleased when we displayed them.

I think I still hear a bit of congestion and will pray that you completely heal this week! What a perfect way to get back into painting with a more simplistic composition. It's not only beautiful, but also the suggestions of using whatever colors we’d like to use sounds like a fun way to be creative. I really enjoy your lessons! You probably have been asked a hundred times about the size of the paper so let me make it a 101. What are the dimensions of the paper the paper that you use in your lessons? Thank you.
I’m glad you’re enjoying my tutorials! I usually buy a 9x12 inch pad of Arches paper, so often I just use it straight from the pad, but I do also like to cut it down sometimes to measure 8x10 if I am planning to frame it simply because I already have frames that size to use. (I use the extra pieces that I cut off as scrap paper to practice brush strokes or test colors on so it doesn’t go to waste. 😊) I believe this particular tutorial was 8x10 inch.
