Most ppl say only spray w water to clean. You say 1st vac 5min or a hard job ahead removing the dirt deeper embedded now in the filter. Big thank you. Listen to video.

Thanks for the video. That was the most comprehensive explanation I've seen.

Thank you for this video, Acclaimed! My previous attempt at cleaning the filters wasn't making any visible improvement. After vacuuming the filter with a shop-vac hose with no attachment, I sprayed it with a lot of Simple Green and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then I blew abour 3-4 gallons of water through the water nozzle adjusted to a pencil-shaped jet from the opposite side and let it sit just as described in the video. It looks like brand new, but it had layers of lint on it before I started.

Yes, excellent, helpful video. If I lived in Edmonton I'd use your furnace services. Luckily, I live in Vancouver, and need it a lot less often! Thanks again.

Thanks. My furnace has both an electrostatic filter and the standard "cardboard filter" (which never seems to get dirty). Should I just remove the cardboard filter since it doesn't seem to be doing much (other than perhaps providing an airflow restriction).

This is an excellent video, thank you. Unfortunately, vacuuming doesn't get all the pet hair out of my filter. What should I do, just vacuum it for 5 minutes, then soak in the tub? I like that method better than just hosing it down. Thanks again!

Vaccuming our as much you can is very helpful. Often you need to use a degreasing solution (any household cleaner) on the air filter to break the particles down. We bring ours to the car wash and use the high pressure hose there. Start by spray the opposite way the air flows through it from the furnace and not to force more dust and debris into the filter. Hope that helps! Thanks for the question.

Please define the term large capacity furnace.
My house is 1728 ft² and One electric Carrier furnace.. Can I use electrostatic filter for my furnace?
Does the square footage of my home which is a manufactured home in a mobile home court considered large capacity?

Hi, what is a large furnace and what is a large house? What if I do not use the system to heat the house, but only to cool it? The house I bought already have its system and is equiped with a washable electrostatic filter. I never use the system to heat the house since it is quite old (1999) and been recommended not to do so if I want to extend its life. The cooling fonction works very well but your comment about sizes of the house and furnace accordingly to electrostatic filters is making me reconsider the adequacy of my present filter. Thank you.

Thanks for commenting, Die! Lots of great questions here, but unfortunately we'd need to ask you a few more to give you an accurate answer based on a few other factors. Feel free to give us a call at 780-413-1655 to discuss further.

Does it matter what direction you wash it. I assume I vac it on the air flow side?

I bought one on January 3rd, it is now March 18. There is absolutely no dust or dog hair on it. My electrostatic is the same on both sides, and can be placed either way. It is Trophy air. It seems like it isn't picking up any dirt. Am I crazy? Should I get a different type that has 2 different sides?

Does the direction of the washing (using a water hose) have to be opposite to the direction of airflow?

I live in Canada and we have cold winter here. It would take 1 day for my filter to perfectly dry. Can i use a hair dryer to make it
    dry faster?

    • @AcclaimedEdmonton
      @AcclaimedEdmonton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Great suggestion! You could, if you only use the air flow, or very low heat. These filters are use to heat at they are directly situated near your furnace, however we would recommend lower temperatures. Be sure it is REALLY clean as once this is dry, any wet dust will turn to cardboard and be extremely difficult to remove later. Hope that helps!

I just cleaned my mother-in-laws filter. Hers the arrow shows the intake side is the white side, that does not seem right to me as it is backwards compared to mine. Is it possible they put the sticker on backwards or are some reverse? What is in the composition that makes them uni-directional?

Yes vacuuming as much out is best. Often you need to use a degreasing solution (any household cleaner) on the air filter to break the particles down. We bring ours to the car wash and use the high pressure hose there. Start by spray the opposite way the air flows through it from the furnace and not to force more dust and debris into the filter. Sorry I forgot to answer your first question. Clean it often, once a month prevents it getting blocked in.
