It's important to remember that we have no idea what any of these planets look like, as most of them are so far away that not even a pixel of light resolves from them on our best telescopes, so those images are all artist renditions. All of the information given in that video is scientists' best guess for what those planets would be like based on their size and distance from their stars. Almost all exoplanets are discovered indirectly, either by measuring how much they cause their stars to dim as the pass in front of them, or by measuring the "wobbling" they give their stars from their relatively tiny gravitational fields. While videos like that one are important for stemming public interest in exoplanets, I think that if they said "Hey we actually have no idea what these planets look like or are even made of because we don't have enough funding to make bigger telescopes," there would be a much bigger push to build those bigger telescopes and at least see super low res images of what they actually look like.
was looking for this. the video is a bit misleading in some things. which Im not complaining. These channels have a wide range of topics they explore. mistakes are bound to happen, but still great videos none the less
Every time I hear about that waterplanet all I can think of is the planet 4546b the name the gamedevelopers of Subnautica named their planet and that game is sooooo much fun and the gamemap is on a 2x2 kilometer crater made from an underwater volcano that erupted milions of years earlier and have 2 islands. (the only 2 islands on that map) The game looks absolutely stunning, hands down my favorite survival game ever...well 2nd favorite Minecraft is still more fun and that takes much longer to complete than Subnautica. Sorry for my Little jump the, great video tho.

I guess they can deduce all of these facts about planets so far away, that only appear as a flicker of an object passing in front of a star in the most powerful of telescopes. Amazing isn't it? These people ate GODS!
