Dermot, Was Tadghie related to Jackie Lyne? The reason I ask is that back in the early seventies when I joined the civil service I worked with a lovely lady Margaret Lyne who told me she was a brother of Jackie. I think she may also have been a close relative of the great Spillane brothers Pat, Tom and Mick of Templenoe
@@seancrowe8488 thanks for your enquiry Jackie Lyne was an uncle of the 3 Spillane brother as their mother was a sister of Jackie and also a sister of Canon Michael lyne Dinny Lyne who played for Kerry they were known as the Lyne’s of Cleeney just outside Killarney town they played club football with the legion and my father played for the Dr Crokes
@Jami Cavan were 1st to bring Sam to Ulster, yes but they have always been part of the Irish republic. Down was the 1st of the 6 counties of the North to bring the cup across the border.
Great memory, my Dad was at this game and the Offaly final. Some outstanding Down players I remember seeing Paddy Doherty score a point for Ulster he simply caught the ball turned and shot I believe he never even looked up to see where the goals were.
As if you didn't know🙄...Irish national identity was comprised mainly of Roman Catholicism and the GAA. Imagine seeing the head of the Church of England at an FA Cup Final😱
The controllers and handlers of generations who have now abandoned their responsibility to the flock... The City of London (banking) have always been in control...
As a Tyrone man who grew up on stories of this team its amazing to see the footage
Brilliant clip & pleasure to watch the game in 1960, thank you
My late father Tadghie Lyne that was his last All Ireland Final he played in

@@dermotlyne461 thanks for coming back to me Dermot. I have fond memories of Margaret.....she was a lovely lady. Take care.
That's crazy that they started the game with the photographers still all around
Very Irish I would venture to say... That was the Irish version of the tele-photo lens !!!😅😂
@ 2:10 there's something that in the old days they can't do that anymore
No matter what ever happens in GAA finals, We were the 1st county to bring Sam across the border.

Great achievement by Down.
This footage is of a grand spectical, when normal people actually looked normal.
Just wonderful !!!

Excellent footage!
Something lovely about the old stadiums
@dineswater Glad you liked it....there are other similar videos on youtube of the 1960 Final but this is better in terms of picture quality.
Great video
@78Snipsey There's only been 727 views because there's another similiar video on youtube, uploaded before this one.
My granda player I’m that match he died this morning to cancer
A Down player that played in the 1968 Final died today, John Murphy RIP.
There was a lot of barbed wire in crokePark in the 1960s !
Showing a trusting attitude to the supporters.
Maybe a 2020 take on things.
Heroes 👍
Who was the referee in 1960 final
Fans back then some craic. Dressed sunday best, sat behind barbed wire (some down fans would soon get very used to this).
Great stuff
Of course, the ever present catholic church in amongst the celebs!!! WHY?????
