Another great episode Bart. Your friends achieved so much with the painting. Your garden is looking fantastic and must be such a source of inspiration to you. To hear the cuckoo calling in the distance was magical. Something I haven’t heard in the UK for many a year. Wishing you a healthy and productive week ahead mate. Keep the faith👍🏻
Hi Burrough. Yeah the cuckoo. We have a lot of them this year. I hear them all the time. By the way I have a better camera these days and it's exiting to hear all the bird sounds now. Couldn't catch those with my phone cam. Yeah I am really exited about that garden. I spent almost a year of my time putting together what is there now and it just looks and feels amazing. See you around!
Minden szép, de ez a kert egyszerűen csodálatos, igazi Paradicsomi állapotot idéz! Az a kis eső most is jól jött, felfrissült és megtisztult minden! További jó munkát kívánok!
Szia Casbane! Igen. Ez egy valóra vált álom. A kert.
Succes man👍👍👍
Jawel Reinier.
Hi Jose. I am actually subscribed to Woof and Workaway, but you don't get to be a host just like that. I never really met the standard requirements. Now for my friends for a few days a mattress on the floor will do, but you do need some minimum requirements. Besides I never had a toilet for most of the first 3 1/2 years. Pitching a tent would have been an option or even better a campervan.
Your garden is really delighted with the rainfall. So beautiful….not so great for painting, but many hands made light work of the first coats. Looking fantastic !
Great work Bart, I love the blue for the ironwork. All that rain is good for the garden. "I get by with a little help from my friends" or so the words of the song go. True friends are indeed treasures.
Joe Cocker! Was struggling with the title when it got to me Vivienne :) I guess I am lucky I am not 'open' yet. For me this is the best garden season ever! Greetings!
I can't get over the progress Bart! Having your 4 friends over to help you was such a blessing....your railings and pergolas look fabulous! The pathways and the gardens are beautiful....what an eventful week in spite of the rain. The bathroom tilings look like they are almost all done. Wow!! Great week Bart. You must be so happy....you are getting there and have come so, so far!! All very exciting to see. Thank you!!
Thanks Jane. Yes yes yes. The overview and progress and the type of jobs are telling me that we are going towards a first finish line. Even though there will be more behind that. But that first big delivery is almost around the corner! Greetings!
Wow, firstly, I love that blue on the metal work, just the right hue, not too bright, not too dull, perfect! Your pointing is always interesting, how its always just piled into the stones and looks like a mess. Next thing you see is another gorgeous stone wall which I know took a lot of work, but for us, it’s always magic!!! Your tiling’s always so good, who wouldn’t want to live there, so perfect! What great friends, it’s always so nice to work with guys you enjoy! Thank you, another great episode!
Thanks Nena. There is a lot of repetitive work now so I don't turn on the camera that much. For me it's just more of the same but I get what you are saying. And of course after the work I admire the result myself every time. And yes I am so happy not to have chosen something grey or black for the iron work. This blue is just fantastic. Greetings!
Hi Andrea. Yeah. I started from scratch 4 years ago. Even some people telling me nothing will grow there, but year after year extending and building the terraces .. when I am in the garden I hardly can't believe what it is becoming. It is my biggest accomplishment if you ask me. Greetings
Hi Bart, It was great to get some help from the boys. They did a great job. I love the blue colour of the railings. The food forest is looking amazing. The pathways all mulched. It’s really makes a difference. Everything looks so lush & green. Thanks to all the rain 😁 Thanks for the update. Take care until next time 😊👍🏻
Thanks Ann. Yeah now it's again a join to make my walks through the garden. I was really concerned for a while since I didn't really find the time for maintenance but than when my friends where around and I became cook for a few days I figured I finally have time for a big clean up. And thanks to the constant reainfall I don't have to struggle giving water to the food forrest this year untill I have a proper irrigation system in place.
Ooh piedmont, your projects are all Amazing, they are slow and really Authentic, everything ties in beautifully. I have been following you for quite some time now and all I get is but Inspirations. I have done a self-built Cabin in the Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest in Uganda in East Africa where the Mountain Gorilla are. It would be nice for you to come do the Tracking of the Gorila and I would be happy to Accommodate your during your stay and have conversations on Restoration. I can send you a link to my works which is already on Airbnb. Thank you for the great job Rescuing these wonderful Heritage sites for other the Enjoy later. Michael Otti.
Hello Micheal. You are the last comment to answer. And let me explain why. When I saw your comment first time yesterday, you brought me back to my younger years. I think I know right about where you are with your cabin! 1987. My first 3 month voyage to Africa. I departed from Kenia and spent some 5 weeks in Uganda. I believe Museveni became president the year before. 4 weeks I spent in the Ruwenzori mountains! Mountains of the moon. Spectacular. I met wonderful people eating casava and chicken so I was treated really well. Eating lots of dried fish when I went into the mountains for a few days. In 1988 I went back. Tried a couple of times to find the Gorilla. We used to cross over to Zaire (back than) and I remember the border guard handing out 48 hour visas. Please send me your details and we get in touch. I have email on the channel too. Greetings and thanks for telling sharing your story here.
I really liked the blue color chosen for the railings and pergolas. 💙 Having and counting on the support of friends is very good. 🙏🏻 The garden enjoyed the rain, it is beautiful and healthy. The stone walls … wow …beautiful… perfect … 😍
Thanks Romo! Great to see you around every week! :) Blue is different but fits very well I think. Most Italians around here raised their eyebrows at first but now ... the change idea :))
Absolutely beautiful blue color for your ironwork railings and pergolas! So great that you had help, so nice of them. The garden is beautiful the woodchips really finish it of. We did our yearly wood chip spread out yesterday. It always lifts a garden and really defines the spaces. Your fourth year anniversary of your renovation project, it must be grinding and exausting sometimes. You have shown an outstanding work ethic, and tenacity. Keep it up you are almost there! Oh what are the bottles for that hang in the trees? HAVE A GREAT WEEK! 🏵
Thanks Marianne. I love the color too. And I agree the woodchips finish it off and keeps the paths relatively clean for the rest of the year with the cardboard underneath. Less maintenance. And yes it is grinding but the light in the tunnel is shining brighter every day! The bottles are to keep away (catch) insects who like cherry picking :)
@@borgopoggiodeifiori thanks Bart, I can't wait to see your next vlog. good luck with all your work this week hopefully you will be able to go to the beach real soon. It was a bit weird to hear your, "boven de rivieren" accent. regards marianne

Thank you Zuzana. Well it is. But then again I am 4 years on the way and I discovered a virtue I never thought I had much off. Patience! It had brought me so much. I take time to think about the best solutions. I never try to hurry anything. I spread the work over days and sometimes weeks and ultimately it makes the journey a wonderfull one. This is a once in a lifetime project for me and I want to do the best I can. And of course I do get help from an architect, electrician, plumber and a stone mason.

I was thinking about that this weekend when I cleaned out the apartments upstairs. How many times have I walked all those stairs?? The garden walks are different. I can do that endlessly :)
Bart you have some natural stone in your shower areas. Are you planning to spray some type of antibacterial barrier on this stone to prevent future mould growth?
Hi William. Yes. There is a special product, which is a waterproof coating for the natural stones. It works like a slim layer on top. In the showers I will have to re-apply it every 2 years. I also plan to use it inside the apartments as it helps a lot in keeping off dust and insects.
wow it’s like a jungle out there with all the green. one good thing about all that rain i guess. are all those plants alongside the steps things u planted like flowers, or was it mostly just there already?
Hi Doreen. No this was just a barren hill. I have a video about the very beginnings when I started to build the first terrace. All terraces are man made. Soil has been turned over. Gotten rid off stones and rocks. Every tree and shrub planted by me including most of the flowers. There are a few indigenous species like the purple wild sage.

It’s good to have good friends.
You have to organise volunteers to come and help you, one or two every time, it’s a big task doing on your own.
