I'm from Northern Ireland and this is still the only NASCAR race I've ever been to. I was 15. Signed the finish line the day before then I was there for the race with a migraine from the heat, but still loving every minute in my full Clint Bowyer Jack Daniels gear. Still a massive fan and would love to get back one day.

TNT's Wide Open Coverage I think was a brilliant idea, and it needs to be implemented by every network that does NASCAR TV coverage.

They still kind of do that on NBC when they are at Daytona. Especially near the end of the race. Sometimes they go 40 laps without a commerical. But now we have the "non-stop" thing when they go to commerical.

      But I’m confused here..
If this race was broadcasted in 16:9 why do we see it in the unfortunate old format here?
Is it because it’s a screen recording from an old 4:3 Tube television?

As the primary Pepsi won 4 races with Jeff. Back to back Talladega spring races in 2004 and 2005, as well as the Summer Daytona race in 2005. They would later return to victory lane in the 2007 Talladega fall race. The next 8 years they would go winless despite appearing 17 more times.

NASCAR needs to mandate "Wide Open Coverage" as a deal breaker for every network that signs on for 2025.
The full screen commercial model is outdated. It might have worked in 2003, it does not work well at all in a 2023 world where everyone has any entertainment they want at one click of a button.

Broke my heart last month when he lost the 500, I was rooting for him because that's the last thing he has to do in his illustrious career. He's won the championship twice in 2015 & 2019, the 2018 Coca-Cola 600, the 2008 GEICO 500, the Brickyard 400 twice in 2015 & 2016, and the 2008 Southern 500. He's now 0-18 in the Daytona 500 with a best finish of 2nd in 2019. Perhaps next year he'll win it when it comes to numbers. The last two Daytona 500's to occur in a year ending with a "4" saw the winner driving a car with "8" being the only digit(s) on it. Dale Earnhardt Jr. won in the 8 in 2004, and the 88 in 2014. Kyle Busch winning in the 8 in 2024, it lines up.
