    Split times are longer on magnetic machines because there is no inertia adding miles to tally. With air/water ergs, when you're retracting the flywheel is still spinning because of the initial force like real life rowing. With magnetic ones, usually the distance on the negative movement is never accounted for. Which is why you're roughly seeing double the time.

      @@JeMand.Anders Usually it is best to only compare between identical machines. The same goes for real life comparison in any sport. The size/length of equipment, weight of boat, current speed and direction of water must be identical to compare. Concept2 is available in a lot of gyms, so you can always pop in once a month or so on a day pass and compare your current athletic status with others who are using that system (your concept2 account will work with gym machines so can track it forever). But don’t compare magnetic tower numbers to the ones you see online.

    I have used this rower for 2 years now. First I had the 500, but the pulley system broke after about 1 year with about 1000 km rowed and they gave me a free replacement, the newer 500B. But that has now broken as well after another year and another 1000 km, again the pulley system, and it is now out of warranty. The replacement part however is only about €35 and otherwise it has been a very satisfying rower (for me as an amateur), but just wanted to mention this potential problem. As for the 500 m time: On both rowers at a stroke rate of 26 it took about 2.5 min/500 m, so I never had the problem of taking very long for 500 m. I only row while using Holofit (a VR exercise app that connects via BLE to the rower, for fun and motivation) and do not use the rowers display, but Holofit gives me these figures and I had always presumed they were supplied by the rower.

      My 500b doesn't starting. Why? Have I to row so much times before it turns on?

    • @MikeJohnson-ny2tz
      @MikeJohnson-ny2tz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Fa-id4nf Mine turns on after one or two pulls, so no, you do not have to wait for long. Check the connections of the back of the display, they are not very strong and might have disconnected, particularly the biggest of the three plugs.

    I've been using the device for couple of weeks. The purchase decision was by this review and other, all which failed to mention the cons that I'm adding below. And it's a pitty since I would probably skip this product had I known about those.
    Overall this rower is OK for mild home use. I would not recommend for someone who aims to make proper rowing machine exercise,
    Pro:
    - Short (small size when open) and fits in smaller rooms
    - Quiet
    Con:
    - Rowing pole to close to rower body - cannot fully extend arms when leaning forward
    - Unstable - in strong pulls the front bounces. I had to put weights on the front stand
    Quite

      @MarkChenMovement  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The instability can be fixed by tightening the bolts fully. I had the same issue at the start

    I have been using the Domyos 500B since 2022. I think the biggest difference is in the power you put into each stroke. For example, with the Concept2 you can make more metres at a slower speed by putting more energy into each stroke. With the Domyos 500B, you always need 34 strokes per 100 metres or 3,334 strokes per 10 kilometres. Nevertheless, I am very satisfied with the Domyos 500B.

    Hello! Thanks for the video. I bought this rower last week and I also have the same problem with time per 500m it's about 5min for the 500m depending on the cadence . I used a concept 2 at the gym and that would be the time for a bit over 1km. I also saw the video from the French guy and used subtitles 😂 because I don't speak French and I think it might have something to do with the lower amplitude of domyos r500b when compared with concept 2. I'm 1.70m tall and I noticed a difference on domyos because on concept 2 you can go a bit further on the front so I think for someone over 1.80m it might feel a bit weird and it might explain the lower distance for 500m. Do you any problems connecting to the decathlon app or kinomap? Because I do and even the heart monitor strap only worked the first time... Will have to see if maybe it's the battery. Also I can't turn on the console and choose a program unless I'm rowing at the same time which makes it very difficult to adjust resistence or choose one or the programs. I know it's self powered but on the manual says the console will automatically switch after 15min but mine will switch off after 2 or 3 seconds after I stopped rowing so it's really annoying. Would love to hear your feedback and see if maybe there's something wrong with mine. 👍

      So seems like we got a great answer above! No issues with the app on my end

      Computer is totally wrong. I am rowing hard and getting really bad times us low calorie burn. Go on another mc and I look like an Olympian. Very poor indeed.

      @@thetotaldepravity did you see Carla's reply /explanation?

    • @thetotaldepravity
      @thetotaldepravity ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I read that. But it is a bit of a shame that we can't use the computer for an accurate time. Plus, after rowing like crazy for 30 mins it says in terms of calorie burn I may as well stayed in bed. Also, if we connect to the apps and race with others, it shows the slow time. I tried using kinomap but the time it logged was very slow, even though I rowed as fast as I could. Is there a way around this or is the computer just junk? Pity, as I only bought it last week. Thanks.

    Nice job. Do you thiink that this rower would work for people around 185 cm (6ft) in height? Thanks

      Great question, I'm 173 so it's quite the difference but I do have some taller clients I can let them try. My first thought would be "yes", don't see why not.
