A tribute to one of the most beautiful film couples ever. Liz and Monty had such amazing chemistry together and remained good friends untill his death in 1966.

Today is Monty's 92nd birthday. Hard to believe. he will always be young and beautiful. What a talented actor he was too. Red River his first movie is my favorite all time western! My favorite film of his is the Search. For those who have never seen either one of these movies, do yourself a big favor and watch them. you won't be diapointed.

This is a great tribute to an iconic Hollywood duo. I especially like this tribute because, IMHO, Montgomery Clift has never gotten his due as an actor. He lies in the no man's land between the brief and tragic death that comes in youth (James Dean) and the long, life lived in full and living to become a legend (Marlon Brando). I have often wondered why there has not been as much attention paid to Montgomery Clift's amazing talent and body of work. Lesser men have more glory than Monty.
The combination of this song, images from "A Place In The Sun," and the knowledge of Monty's tragic life, all make me sad. Sigh, such is the legacy of the great Montgomery Clift. There will be none other like him. Rest In Peace Liz & Monty. You two soulmates are back together again (:

Wonderful tribute to two of filmdom's most beautiful iconic actors. Liz & Monty... imagine what their kids woulda looked like. Back in the day, he nicknamed her "Bessie May." Maybe that sorta deglamorized her in his eyes, & perhaps despite her beauty, it made her more real & accessible. Long ago I started nicknaming my most lovely friends "May." It just feels right somehow.
Hollywood really knew how to pair couples, especially in the Golden Age. I always liked Ms. Taylor because even when I was about 11, I read some really Humanitarian things she did such as fostering children from different ethnicities and fighting for causes such as AIDs and other causes as an adult. I appreciated her and miss her and yes, Mr. Clift was a beautiful man to look at and they made a gorgeous couple on screen.Oddly, she said she didn't think of herself as beautiful, but overweight!

They recast Monty's part with Marlon Brando. It's a great movie and could only imagine how it would have been with Monty instead of Brando. The character was complicated and was right up Monty's alley. Among other things, it's about a married military officer trying to deal with his repressed homosexuality.
