Great video Matt. One small thing, you don't have to qualify your techniques with "for me..." Too many LL coaches, like me, have taught kids to be in an athletic stance (balls of feet) when hitting for years. We were wrong, you are right. The more definitive you are as an expert the more convincing you will be to dad coaches who are repeating "squash the bug" a thousand times a year.

Thanks I appreciate that! I don’t want to act like I have all the answers. Its just my opinion, but I do feel it will help

@@AntonelliBaseball Love the humility. It definitely helps. I had a kid in fall ball stay on his back leg and turn his barrel-his confidence went thru the roof. Went from rolling over grounders to bomb launcher in a month.

Hey Matt, thank you for the video. My wife & I have a 6 year old playing 8u machine pitch abs we absolutely get a kick out of seeing how much he loves the game.
For starters, I appreciate the advice of screwing the back foot into the ground rather than “squish the bug” and rotating weight away from the zone.
This technique has helped to takeaway his top hand forearm getting ahead and then rushing the bat through the zone. But we’ve had some issue with what I call bat explosion on contact.
We’ve tried to combat this by hitting through lightly deflated soccer balls off the tee and finishing high & strong. But in the game we’re still seeing his bat explode up on contact.
Is this a matter of him being a little guy & lack of strength, or do you have any advice on this moving forward?
Thank you for reading all of this about a 6 year old. Lol Appreciate you. 👍

Yea I was always taught as a player that before you swing that you need to get your foot down and not early but on time and like you said keep your back foot on the ground. But when you swing your back foot should turn up like your squashing a bug

Matt a video on laying off the low breaking ball especially from same hand pitcher to your batting side.

Thank you. Lot of coaches - at least with young kids like 7 or 8 - say to keep the elbow up. That’s kind of all you hear lol.

When kids are struggling with timing I tell them to start the swing with their hands.
They don't necessarily but they do improve their timing and don't lunge.

What's wrong with your channel? You got 209.000 subscribers but not very much interaction. Are you somehow shadow banned or something? That's sad. You're a great guy and I've learned so much from you and you deserve much better.

By interaction do you mean comments? It really just depends on the video I guess. I don’t know how it all works, but certain videos we will get hundreds of thousands of views and some only 5-10k.
