High Frequency trading is an extremely large topic, however in this video I focus on HFT through the lens of arbitraging. Arbitrage is a strategy in which you look for opportunities within the market to give you as close to guaranteed profit as possible. You do this by looking at multiple exchanges in order to take advantage of any price spread, or by taking advantage of triangular arbitrage on a singular exchange.
Arbitrage is an extremely competitive industry with thousands of traders spending millions of dollars in order to try to take advantage of the same opportunities.

Great info, but it's lacking the same key info that all crypto arbitrage videos lack, which is the method for discovering and executing arbitrage opportunities, and the work involved.

they run algorithm on prices, to detect the opportunity, if you are not a computer guy, you never understand how it works, a basic example is bellman-ford algorithm👌
The title with the rounded up risk seems a little far fetched, if I made 1 cent in 1000 trades in 1 second, but i didn't count fees or fees changed, while afk. It still could be risky. should up date it to "PROFIT WITH 0.001 RISK".

If you want to calculate it and take advantage of it. I can fairly tell you that you will never make it through brokers I checked that many times and the synthetic created thing was always less than the actual price in the markets so your arbitrage was negative. Also it’s extremely risky to do it on two brokers on the same time and could be impossible sometimes. So how actually to do it?
You need to be a bank or a broker. That’s it 😀. A broker is a 24 hour self working arbitrage system. They actually sell you everything at the price they want to make sure they did the arbitrage through you actually. Imagine if you have your own broker and trading with zero spread and commission plus taking the thing at its original price. Would that help you succeed? Let me know in the comments 😃

It’s not 100% then if you can lose out to other people.
The risk tends to come in the form of infrastructure / errors in the software rather than the trades themselves. For example spending millions of dollars on servers and developers to have a strategy that is unable to sustain that spend.
The risk comes in slight changes to currency rates between the time you initate the triangle and the time it's filled...in a perfect world you would get the currency at the price you want, but it is not always true. All 3 points need to be filled, and if price changes and you have to adjust the price to fill one of the points it eats into profits to the point that you can make a loss (or a greater profit). The method isn't 100% reliable, but you DO start in profit so the potential for extra profit is just as great as the potential for slight loss. Unlike any other trades where you start off in loss, it's the one trade where you are in profit from the start.
And I don't understand where this "millions of dollars" for servers and developers comes into it...I'm a semi-competent programmer with rudimentary mathematics skills (and Asperger...always handy to have a little logic) and I was able to write an app that constantly checks for arbitrage opportunities on one exchange and can trade on them...heck, a decent coder with a Raspberry PI could probably handle triangle arbitrage. I think the problem is that most people don't understand that you would need $100,000 to earn ~$6 from a trade (after fees), and it is very very unlikely that there will be successful triangle arbitrage options that would be profitable with anything below $100k. That said, 1% profit per day is doable at $6 per trade. 1% profit *IF* you have enough money invested that the profit covers fees (namely $100k+ though it varies from broker to broker)

Wouldn't it be a risk as well, if they buy a stock at $5.00 at exchange A, and then when they try to sell it at $5.10 at exchange B, the buy order at exchange B is already filled while they have already bought the stock for $5.00 at exchange A.

You're bitcoin example is a bit of wrong as btc usually has way more spread than $50.. So you just keep paying the spread..
