I used to work for a military TSP and trust me when I say they will try everything to get out of responsibility for broken/damaged items. So good idea recording everything beforehand!

After they boxed them, did you label each boxes? Also, how many days before they came back and picked the boxes up?
Typically they will pack & take away the same day, but since they came on a Friday they let us keep our bed for the weekend & came back to get everything on the following Monday. The movers label the boxes for you and when their done you’re given a copy of the inventory sheet!
Staying in the house for a few more weeks without all the furniture will feel like an indoor camping trip 😄

Could you please elaborate on the newspaper that was mentioned at the beginning?
Of course! We bought a newspaper to show the date that our movers were packing our house & took photos/videos of all of our major electronics to have proof that the were working/not broken the day that they got packed! So that when we got to Italy if anything was wrong with it we’d have proof that it wasn’t our fault☺️
