Eh, I think it’s different because they were straight up losing the air war against the Cubans. In fact they had to pull out and make a Namibia a buffer state just to protect themselves
That's what I have told in all his recent videos. He can make them 16:9 to have more space. Use 50% for the map of the country that is the focus, and he can put the countries that are periferic like the US, USSR, France in a list or in a world map in the corner right.
Kinda and kinda not, as during those times the government were hardline Communists heavily backed by Cuba and the Soviets (2 very tyrannical powers) but nowadays they are more closely defined as straight Democratic.

the US backed Zaire during the Cold War, and helped found their government (the US greatly assisted the coup d’etat which put dictator Sese Seko in power), and they also funded the SocDem (UNITA) campaign in Angola, so the US a were both allies to Zaire and UNITA.

MPLA dropped marxism-leninism (officially) in 1990, after the collapse of the soviet union. In practice MPLA dropped marxism after Manguxi died. You could even say they aren't really marxist-leninists since Nito Alves death. You have good potential but you can use the space more efficiently
You didn’t mention that the death of Jonas Savimbi was the main reason UNITA lost
why? :o
UNITA was going to lose either way, after the Cold War ended, it was pretty much downhill for UNITA from there.
What???
UNITA is still a large political party in Angola
Great work!
Excellent video, love your content!
This was Apartheid South Africa's Vietnam. A lot of success on the ground, but due to political reasons could never capitalise on them.
Actually a pretty good comparison to be honest.

When a Country has a line in the middle splitting it color wise does that mean it’s split on what factions it is in?
More or less yea, it means the country supports two (or more) different factions.
ex. US backing both Zaire and UNITA and ex 2. France backing both the FLEC and UNITA.
It was Zaire which both supported the FLEC in cabinda (Angolan enclave in the north) as well as the FNLA
Do you imagine if in this conflict, all the allies of the two Angolas were declare war? WW3
What are the bits of land in South Africa, that weren't shown as SA proper?
Those are 'Homelands', a critical part of the Apartheid regime, where most Blacks lived for the time.
