Congratulations on your progress! I am absolutely ecstatic for you that you have dealt with this for 24+ yrs and are seeing restoration now! Thank you for this open discussion, especially sharing that your "vitiligo experience" spreads with sun exposure and that new freckles will connect to form a repigmented area.
I only developed vitiligo 5 yrs ago at age 48 after one stressful summer when I had to be in the sun more than usual. I honestly also think it was exacerbated by extended exposure to a computer monitor at work.
I did find helpful the advice from the "askdrshah" site (no sour acidic foods, raw vegs, avoid corticosteroids) because most of my local dermatologists had no experience healing our brown skin. I've experienced shifting: repigmentation on one area and spreading in another, but am still encouraged.
I think I opened a healing path by adding root vegetables, using sunscreen during long computer sessions and changing my makeup brand.
Bless you for sharing your natural, faithful journey of repigmentation. You changed someone's life today.

Glad to hear you are getting better. I have vitiligo since 2005. It all started after having stressful life, now I am just trying myself to be happy and I could see the difference. My experience this is all from brain as you can see our body divided into two separate portion and they both mirror to each other. Stay happy and I hope it will go away. Please keep posting for Any update which can help all .

From experience of my and my sister's experience, bright light or moderate sun exposure can generate the return of skin color. I saw this first hand during the 1970s with my sister when we both worked in my father's bakery. After several months of exposure to the overhead lights above glass cases, my sister's color returned all over her face. But several years later, she lost the color on her face. In my own case, small patches has disappeared over time, but my vitiligo for the most part has spread steadily over the last 50 years.

My vitiligo is starting to fill in with the same little spots, on my legs, arms, and feet. I am 65 and have had it since I was 11. It is on at least 75% of my body and I am thrilled, but just amazed because I have NO idea why it is happening. That is why I am here! It would be a dream come true, but why now that I am too old to wear the bikini I know I would have looked good in so long ago? Oh well, life is always about change. BTW, you are very beautiful!

My dad has vitiligo for years it happened after a major stress in his work and right after this period of stress he did a surgery , the morning after he got some white spots that expended over years he was diagnosed with vitiligo then ... i dont know if you heard about Dr berg but he did some video on vitiligo and trust me your vegan diet wouldnt help you need more zinc cooper and vitamine D also a lots of AA that's in dairy like glutamate wich we find in Parmesan cheese and we didn't find in veggie/plante or at least we found it in very small amount so yeah when you have a good diet (not vegan) and you decrease your stress you can actualy kinda heal your vitiligo (sometimes it regress but sometimes it goes away 100%) i know someone who heal frome vitiligo he used to put a kind of argil (i suspect it contend a high amount of cooper ) that was well known for healing vitiligo in our contry but you know people do not trust natural ways and old people advise when the doctor says it is impossible to heal somthing

Dermatologist say that usually sunscreen helps with Vitiligo. Im guessing that if you wear makeup regularly since there is sunscreen in most foundation perhaps that has been helping. Again i’m just speculating and trying to make sense of it with you. I find that most people have to go above and beyond to find foundation without sunscreen. Also the vegan diet may help because I ran into a woman with a husband that has vitiligo and she told me his patches are almost gone. She said he takes Celtic Salt mineral and cut out sugar. The are from the Island and very into natural remedies and she told me the patches can go away and a change in his diet helped her husband and the Celtic Salt Mineral.

I have a couple of theories first I think that the sun itself helps not the sunscreen because when I was 15 I remembered the doctor had given me a remedy and told me to stay in the sun but I have a similarity however I went against my allergy in nature and stayed in the sun in fact many many many spots have been filled in with a little bit darker pigmentation.. I still have them today and I'm 26 at the spots that has been filled are still filled with a darker color.. however I stopped using the sun because of my allergies and available I could just spread so much on my covered buddy you like those stomach everywhere that is covered I don't understand though why my hand my two hands has been covered with with so much more white patches than the usual regardless of being exposed to the sun... my other theory is that it is psychological so when you feel good like extremely good your patches would just disappear or start to go and when you feel you don't normally like the regular self of you of who you are it would just stay the same but would you will you feel down and depressed it
just spreads more for my case my body has gained so many white patches over the course of one year because I have been depressed about many topics in my life so this year I'm trying so much to limit the ducks the toxicity in my life because I can feel it when I go to bed when my body is so hurt I can feel that a new patch would come the next morning I don't know it could be just me that's my update

I think our state of mind has a lot to do with it. I've noticed when my over all health is good , my vitiligo patches stay the same or start to get smaller. When I don't eat health, or get enough sleep or have a lot of stress I notice vitiligo spreads faster.

I had small vitiligo spots that appeared on my cheeks for a few months, then went away. I also have it on my eyes and it was all over my eyelids, but when I started using African black soap, Shea butter, and coconut oil (for acne scars) it started going away. My vitiligo came in my 6th grade year and I covered it all the way to my first semester of 12th grade. That’s when I finally started to embrace it. Then it started clearing up and I don’t want it to because I love it and so does everyone else. I actually stopped using coconut oil on my face because it was clearing it up faster. I’m pretty sure in 2-3 months I’ll be completely vitiligo free and I’ll have to retake my state ID picture.
Edit: I was also drinking a lot of water my senior year so that probably triggered it to start clearing up.

A MONEY DOG I was just diagnosed with it as well and I been using an Indian daily thing which makes your skin healthier it’s tu Eric with coconut oil I leave it on for like a few hours then wash it off. I don’t use hot water as it tends to get rid of all your skin oils & I been using Eucresia cream which can be only obtained through a dermatologist but it has worked well in a week that I been using it. Try to stay relaxed and 0 stress as much as you can because that can trigger more patches, I also use vitamin A, Folic acid & vitamin E one daily with my first meal. And avoid drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes. It’s a rough process but trust me it does good things for your skin.

You should try xtrac laser. It worked for me when i had vitiligo on the same areas. It works really well on the face. Also get a prescription for tacrolimus ointment. It takes a pretty long time for the ointment to start to show results but if you apply it religiously at least twice a day you should start to see results in about 8 weeks. On the face for sure.

I'm 46 years old had it since I was 12 however at 13 the patches on my face around my eyes went away with a cream I used 3 times a day for about 2 months.

Water...green veggies...and sun bathing daily in the morning or as the sun is going down. No sun screen and a positive attitude.

Aneta Borysova I started to lean towards eating pescatarian for awhile and my spots began to fade, but It’s definitely the fact that I was eating a lot of nutrient dense foods and getting a lot of sun.
