Happened to me when I found out a good buddy of mine who moved out of the same state and to the same state as (didnt know each other until we were two guys in need of help) had gotten killed back in February. He was suppose to be at my wedding back in March, thought he ghosted because of life but then found out. I was a wreck.

Weird what this stuff does to a man.. horror movies don't often scare me, I think it's awesome instead and cool (effects and dark stuff, like chucky or IT for example) and these sad movies like Titanic and stuff, sure it has started to leave you with a potato in your throat sometimes but rarely cry or anything.. My dad also had a massive heart attack at work and passed away, when I was 11. Exactly the same thing, nothing could have saved him. But he died surrounded by love, his colleagues were like his extended family, like these guys, and it means the world knowing they were there and he wasnt alone. I hope Jesse's family take comfort in that too.

I was 10 when my mom passed its embarrassing but my mom was my friend the one who had my back when she waas gone it's like I died because the only person who kept me together was gone and a few months later my dad just waned a friend so he found a woman but she would be the one to save us both.....i was 10 but seeing my dad cry was what got me because I had never seen a man truly broken

I'm only 22 and I've been pipelining and doing commercial construction since I was 16, being the young kid on the job is always a bit of pain but their is always that one old man that takes care of you looks out for you and has your back. In 1975 I started at the bottom in commercial construction as a laborer when I was 18 y/o. I'll be 66 this November, 2022. Worked as a helper, went to apprentice school, metal stud mechanic (walls and ceilings) foreman, field superintendent and have been a site superintendent for going on 23 years. That's 47+ years. The people that I have worked closely with become more than co-workers. We start with nothing, then a pile of materials, then when we are done there is a building sitting in front of us that WE built. Talk about getting satisfaction from a hards days (sometimes years) work to be able to stand with your, "brothers and sisters", and say, WE built that. To sit at a desk all day, every day and not be able to see something substantial at the day's end, I couldn't do it. .

This just goes to show that even these men, men who look so stone cold, feel the same emotions as we do. Because they are just as human as we are. Although I've never watched to show, I share their pain.
Same stereotype for all men that work in jobs like: plumber, electrician, construction, mechanic, trucker. Kinda weird people think this specific kind of person doesn't cry or have emotions due to the job they do. Death just sucks outright, especially of a friend or family member.
He died quickly without pain. He went home from a place he cherished, doing what he loved to do, surrounded by people he admired and respected. Here's to all of us being so blessed.
The part that broke me the worst was when that one gentleman was sitting on a huge rock and he was in tears. That hurt, man. My continued condolences to the team and Mr. Goins’ family.
A man is taught to hide his emotions to not seem weak, but when you see a man cry, it's serious stuff. This crew is more than friends or colleagues, they're family, and keeping the promise to still provide his share of the gold is what love is about. Men should NEVER be taught this, I don't know in what way you think growing up thinking that men should never cry is ok. Showing emotion is not weakness, being sad when your friend dies is not weakness, what IS weak is not caring or showing any emotion at all.

I barely watched this show. We watched it while eating dinner on shift at the fire house, and this made several people break down crying. We hugged it out, made em feel better, and then went to our next call. May he be digging in the skies, finding the gold.

Condolences from the Atwood family, there's not enough people like Jesse in the world anymore, but if I had to check out, I would want to go doing what I love, just like he did. I also completely relate to Dave on losing his dad, lost mine a few years ago and still, every once in a while find myself grieving the loss. I've not watched Gold Rush in a while but Dave Turin was always the king in my eyes. Hearing his voice on the radio like that was not something you've ever heard from him in the past. Class act to keep his share for his family as well.
As someone who walked into work on a typical summer morning in 2011 to learn a coworker died the night before, I know the pain these guys feel. Even if you don't know them personally, you become used to their presence and personality on the job site (wherever it may be). You feel this gaping hole in your stomach knowing that a guy you saw at 5PM when you left to go home died only six hours later... and realize you'll never see them again. It sucks and if the guy is popular, it destroys morale.
Ive never watched this show and dont know anything about the characters, but when one of the guys kept repeating "Oh my god" and you could hear him breaking down after each one... that shook something inside of me, reminded me of when i got the news that my best friend died of a heart attack at 16. Even though these guys are older, wiser, tougher, they're still human on the inside and I'm praying for the crew and the family of Mr. Goins and I'm wondering if there's a donation page for his family. I'm sure that they're supplied well by the show and the gold but it would comfort them knowing that people outside of the show care for them and want to support them

It was an absolute tragedy Jesse passing after putting up an amazing job in the rock truck. As a firefighter we use "NO DUFF" only in training situations when something goes wrong that is not part of training scenario and we require awareness of that matter. It is commonly used in NATO countries from my understanding.

I lost my good friend on Nov 7 2020 . He was in his deer stand ! The only peace we've found in his death , he was doing what he loved ! I didnt know Jesse , but he reminded me alot of him 😭 . RIP Jesse ! I struggle every day as I know you will ! Brothers are never easy to loose .
This reminds me of what happened to my paternal grandfather, who passed away more than a decade before I was even born. He was out mowing the lawn as a neighbor was watching through their window (my dad wasn't home at the time, as he was on his first date with my mom....and my grandmother was spending the day with friends), and their neighbor turned away for just a couple seconds to grab a beer from the refrigerator, and when he turned back and looked out the window, my grandfather was laying motionless on the ground. The coroner later took my dad aside and told him: "I'm not saying this to make you feel better, but your father wasn't in any pain when he went. He wasn't gone when he hit the ground, he was gone before his knees even buckled. It was like someone just flipped a switch and he was gone." While I still wish that I'd had a chance to meet and know my grandfather, I'm at least grateful that when his time came, it was quick and painless. Though, sadly, his death was preventable. He had been on heart medication, but because the medication gave him the runs, he just stopped taking it instead of going to his doctor and simply asking for a different medication.
I just lost my mother earlier this week and I too was informed that it was quick. She ended up dying from a stroke, I only hope that she was gone the moment it started. My only regret was that I couldn't see her one last time or told her how much she meant to me...
My dad's uncle passed away about 10 days after my brother was born, and it still haunts me what he said. "One came and one is going to go". Didn't even know him and it still hurt

I think something amazing about videos like this, is how much one person's passing can affect so many people who didn't even know that person. The fact that this one person on a TV show actually had enough impact to not only affect his brothers that he worked with, but also thousands of other people who watched the video is just amazing. Even if his passing was tragic, I'm sure that he would be astonished by how many people genuinely cared about him.
It hits home when you know someone who passed away, you just understand the feeling and wish another person doesn’t feel the same pain, it’s truly sad !
As someone who works on a mine and has been through a fatality on a mine site. This hits hard. It's It's real moment when someone calls over the radio for a medical emergancy.

I used to watch Gold Rush, but it’s been a few years. And I always said the only guy I could work for was Dave. Smart, knows the construction business, thinks, and treats people right. How he worked for Hoffman for more than a day I have no idea. Very sad what happened. Glad they are still giving Jesse’s family his cut. Very admirable and the right thing to do.

Lost a supervisor I used to work at.He was always smiling and was a good guy. He had his bad days, but everybody loved the guy. The day we found out, all 60 men cried in that meeting room. I even saw people that hated the guy cry.... Hope he is living it up in heaven with all the beers e can drink.

I was 10 when my mom passed its embarrassing but my mom was my friend the one who had my back when she waas gone it's like I died because the only person who kept me together was gone and a few months later my dad just waned a friend so he found a woman but she would be the one to save us both.....i was 10 but seeing my dad cry was what got me because I had never seen a man truly broken

You may feel alone but your not I know the pain I'm 15 but I felt the same way for so long but eventually something changed I still don't know the feeling I think it hits some soonner and later than others just know that your not alone you have people and you have us if you ever need us....i know you can make it even if you feel like your alone just hold your head high and imagine the good things from back then.... Even remember the good and the bad and even the sad moments and just cherish the moments that were there.....don't know if i helped but I never met you or your family but I'm sure your mother was a good woman and she wouldn't want you to be sad

I'm only 22 and I've been pipelining and doing commercial construction since I was 16, being the young kid on the job is always a bit of pain but their is always that one old man that takes care of you looks out for you and has your back. Fly high old salt! It's people like you that keep us young guys in the industry.

In 1975 I started at the bottom in commercial construction as a laborer when I was 18 y/o. I'll be 66 this November, 2022. Worked as a helper, went to apprentice school, metal stud mechanic (walls and ceilings) foreman, field superintendent and have been a site superintendent for going on 23 years. That's 47+ years.
The people that I have worked closely with become more than co-workers.
We start with nothing, then a pile of materials, then when we are done there is a building sitting in front of us that WE built.
Talk about getting satisfaction from a hards days (sometimes years) work to be able to stand with your, "brothers and sisters", and say, WE built that.
To sit at a desk all day, every day and not be able to see something substantial at the day's end, I couldn't do it.

That right there. The first time you hear him say "oh god" is when I'm sure most of our hearts hit our heels.
This just goes to show that even these men, men who look so stone cold, feel the same emotions as we do. Because they are just as human as we are. Although I've never watched to show, I share their pain.

The part that broke me the worst was when that one gentleman was sitting on a huge rock and he was in tears. That hurt, man. My continued condolences to the team and Mr. Goins’ family.
A man is taught to hide his emotions to not seem weak, but when you see a man cry, it's serious stuff. This crew is more than friends or colleagues, they're family, and keeping the promise to still provide his share of the gold is what love is about. Jesse may rest in peace and watch over our souls and keep us safe.

He died with his brothers, doing what he loved. I cannot imagine a better passing for anyone. i don't weep for the dead, they know no more suffering or pain. I weep for those who loved him, who have to suffer their absence.

I barely watched this show. We watched it while eating dinner on shift at the fire house, and this made several people break down crying. We hugged it out, made em feel better, and then went to our next call. May he be digging in the skies, finding the gold.
As heartbreaking and emotional as this is, it's really nice to see a bunch of grown, burly, tough workin men, crying at the sound of bad news. It's alright to have emotions no matter who you are :)

Condolences from the Atwood family, there's not enough people like Jesse in the world anymore, but if I had to check out, I would want to go doing what I love, just like he did. I also completely relate to Dave on losing his dad, lost mine a few years ago and still, every once in a while find myself grieving the loss. You just have to keep moving forward, it's the only thing that helps.

I've not watched Gold Rush in a while but Dave Turin was always the king in my eyes. Hearing his voice on the radio like that was not something you've ever heard from him in the past. Class act to keep his share for his family as well.
As someone who walked into work on a typical summer morning in 2011 to learn a coworker died the night before, I know the pain these guys feel. Even if you don't know them personally, you become used to their presence and personality on the job site (wherever it may be). You feel this gaping hole in your stomach knowing that a guy you saw at 5PM when you left to go home died only six hours later... and realize you'll never see them again. It sucks and if the guy is popular, it destroys morale.
Tears in my eyes. He lived life to the last minute of his life. In my eyes a loss of a legend in the Gold Rush Franchise.
Ive never watched this show and dont know anything about the characters, but when one of the guys kept repeating "Oh my god" and you could hear him breaking down after each one... that shook something inside of me, reminded me of when i got the news that my best friend died of a heart attack at 16. Even though these guys are older, wiser, tougher, they're still human on the inside and I'm praying for the crew and the family of Mr. Goins and I'm wondering if there's a donation page for his family. I'm sure that they're supplied well by the show and the gold but it would comfort them knowing that people outside of the show care for them and want to support them
This just literally popped up in my view stream, 2 years and 3 days after Jesse 's passing. I have followed Dave ever since his Gold Rush days and have watched every episode of this show. It was an absolute tragedy Jesse passing after putting up an amazing job in the rock truck. Dave and the guys are more than colleagues (co-workers) and it showed in how Jesse's sudden passing affected them. R. I. P. Jesse
As a firefighter we use "NO DUFF" only in training situations when something goes wrong that is not part of training scenario and we require awareness of that matter. It is commonly used in NATO countries from my understanding.
its crazy knowing that a few days prior to jesse passing I had lost my grandfather as well to heart failure. Like jesse he was the opposite of an ass and he was the most humblest man I've ever met. Rest in peace for the men who meant something in our lives because that hole can never be filled no matter how hard you try.
I lost my good friend on Nov 7 2020 . He was in his deer stand ! The only peace we've found in his death , he was doing what he loved ! I didnt know Jesse , but he reminded me alot of him 😭 . RIP Jesse ! I struggle every day as I know you will ! Brothers are never easy to loose .
This reminds me of what happened to my paternal grandfather, who passed away more than a decade before I was even born. He was out mowing the lawn as a neighbor was watching through their window (my dad wasn't home at the time, as he was on his first date with my mom....and my grandmother was spending the day with friends), and their neighbor turned away for just a couple seconds to grab a beer from the refrigerator, and when he turned back and looked out the window, my grandfather was laying motionless on the ground.
The coroner later took my dad aside and told him: "I'm not saying this to make you feel better, but your father wasn't in any pain when he went. He wasn't gone when he hit the ground, he was gone before his knees even buckled. It was like someone just flipped a switch and he was gone."
While I still wish that I'd had a chance to meet and know my grandfather, I'm at least grateful that when his time came, it was quick and painless. Though, sadly, his death was preventable. He had been on heart medication, but because the medication gave him the runs, he just stopped taking it instead of going to his doctor and simply asking for a different medication.

I just lost my mother earlier this week and I too was informed that it was quick. She ended up dying from a stroke, I only hope that she was gone the moment it started. My only regret was that I couldn't see her one last time or told her how much she meant to me...
My dad's uncle passed away about 10 days after my brother was born, and it still haunts me what he said. "One came and one is going to go". Didn't even know him and it still hurt

Love this show jesse was the rock to this team. When I seen this episode I cried my eyes out felt like I lost a family member. Jesse is up in heaven gold mining with all the old times and drinking all the beers he wants. Jesse might be gone but he will never be forgotten cause he lives on in his sons and grandchildren. I think something amazing about videos like this, is how much one person's passing can affect so many people who didn't even know that person. The fact that this one person on a TV show actually had enough impact to not only affect his brothers that he worked with, but also thousands of other people who watched the video is just amazing. Even if his passing was tragic, I'm sure that he would be astonished by how many people genuinely cared about him.
I watch Dave Turin lost mines as much as I can and yes it brought a tear to my eyes to learn of Jessie passing. May God bless his family and friends.

It’s not easy being a man. This is my worst fear on a job site as a plumber. Constantly working under houses, in trenches that aren’t shored up and hanging from buildings to glue drains. If this happened to one of the guys I work with, I’d be devastated. Rest In Peace, Jesse Goins.

This one got me. My mom passed sept 2019 from a massive heart attack at only 56 years old. Not being able to say goodbye or I love you is the hardest part of an unexpected death.

And I always said the only guy I could work for was Dave. Smart, knows the construction business, thinks, and treats people right. How he worked for Hoffman for more than a day I have no idea.

I might not have known you well, Jessie, but I can see what you meant to these men, and how you seem to have brought them together as a family. Anyone who can bring such good into the world deserves all of my respect and so much more.
As sad as this is, you can tell when someone has done something with their life and has been someone precious to those who knew them when they're this devastated to see them go.
God knows there are plenty of people out there that don't exactly make it easy to love them, so it's always hard to see someone pass who made it so easy to grow attached.

This just hit home. Last week an amazing co-worker (one I’ve personally never met), but got to know much of in the last few days.. He was mowing his yard last week and got too hot, and went inside for a cold shower to help. His wife came in and found him laying on the bed from a heat stroke gone heart attack. You can hear the hurt in peoples voices as they speak about him. Must have been an awesome dude. RIP Sean.

Lost a supervisor I used to work at.He was always smiling and was a good guy. He had his bad days, but everybody loved the guy. The day we found out, all 60 men cried in that meeting room. I even saw people that hated the guy cry.... Hope he is living it up in heaven with all the beers e can drink.
