Bill is the car reviewer other TH-camrs aspire to be. You get a weather report, an employee/family update, a time capsule of the news for the year the reviewed car was built, and a detailed car review. Add in the occasional attack rabbit spotting and coronavirus tonic recommendation and you have some quirks and features those other guys can’t touch.

This '69 reminds me of a neighbor who took an identical Camaro that was a basket case & spent 2 years restoring it to showroom condition. It was a labor of love & he was bound & determined to save it from the crusher. RIP Jimmie, you did a great resto on that Camaro.

Dad had a '69 Camaro SS that he bought as a dealer demo, with like a thousand miles on it. It was actually fairly stripped down, though it did have the two chrome air vents in the hood that were pretty cool. It had a 350 with a column shifted THM350, and just the little dog dish hub caps. To those of us that knew him, it was such a weird purchase for him; he was not a car guy by any stretch of the imagination. It was his daily driver back and forth to the firehouse and nothing more to him. He even used to let me drive it to school in '82-'84 from time to time, and I was the most popular kid in the place on those days. Apparently, none of us were aware of it's true worth, and he ended up selling it in '98 for like $2,000, with still only about 80k miles on it, and still completely original and in good shape. It was a very fun car to drive, especially as a high school kid, and I always loved the sound of that quadrajet opening up. Now at 57, it would probably scare the crap out of me to drive something so old school with leaf springs, but it was sure a blast back then. Anyway, thanks for the ride down memory lane, Bill. Enjoy the hell out of the cool weather. We're supposed to have a low of 10 F tonight here in Denver, and a high of 13 F on Saturday. Keep the shiny side up and have a shot of coronavirus whiskey on the rest of us. I'm gonna go outside to freeze my ass off and have a smoke.

When I was in middle school, in the early 80s, my friend's older brother had a camaro like this. One night driving drunk he crashed into a tree a mile from his house and was killed instantly when his head came off. The tree stopped the car from going through the house on the corner. I'll never forget riding my bike past the scene the next day and seeing the imprint on the house from one of the wheels that came off the car. The scars on the tree haunted me for years as I thought of the violent final act. Years later, his younger brother died a slow lingering death by cancer. Pick your poison

I was 13 in '69 and hung out at a popular "Phillips 66" gas station and that's when I got hooked on raw HP. Seeing high school age teenagers with SS's and Z28's Camaro's, Chevelle's, GTO's, Boss 302's and 429's, 442's was awesome. That lead to going to the drag strip every weekend in the summer and the sweet smell of a nitro burner funny car was heaven. I started my career in 79' as a test cell engineer load testing large reciprocating engines, mostly diesels, 100-3500BHP "balls-to-the-walls" as they say. Taking an engine to its highest point possible before it collapsed was exhilarating to say the least. Great memories

Powerglide, two speed slip and slide. Was the transmission used for drag racing back-in-the-day.
Long before the 7 speed dual clutchs of today, which shifts faster than you can blink. The
Powerglide was the next best thing, needing only one shift to propel your vehicle through the
    1/4 mile.
    I have owned "only" 4 Camaros in my time. Starting in 1975, a "68" RS 4 speed 327. In 1976, a "70"
    RS automatic 350. In 1981, a "79" Z28 automatic 350. Lastly in 1999, a "99" SS 6 speed LS convertible.

The styling for the '69 is even more iconic because it fine-tuned the original styling to perfection, but for one year only. And then was gone by 1970 in favor of the 2nd gen F-body that would last 11 years. It's instructive that when Chevy rebooted the Camaro in the late 2000s, they chose the '69 as the basis for the retro design.

Thanks for bringing back some fond memories, Bill. My first car was a 69 Camaro convertible in green with a white top. I had tears in my eyes at several points in the video but particularly when you got behind the wheel and started driving. All of the controls were as I remembered them, along with the view over the hood with those gorgeous fenders subtly sticking up. I can still feel the shape of the steering wheel, the click of the turn signal stalk, the headlamp and wiper control, and the turn of the knobs for the radio. The a-pillars were so thin and offered so much expansive visibility for the driver. 40+ year old memories are as clear as day. I worked in California in 2009 and saw the next-generation Camaro at the LA auto show. I was excited to see this car since it was based on the 69. I was immensely disappointed. Visibility was awful as the roof felt slammed down with massive a and c-pillars. The hood and door belt line felt high as well. I felt I was looking out a tank turret slit. Truly a studio designer car. Maybe I am hopelessly biased, but the 69 Camaro was truly a special car. As you said, I could easily live with it today. Thanks again. Love all of your reviews.

This car and this video brings me back.
My first car, which I had 50 years ago this year, was a 1965 Impala SS convertible with a 327 rated at 300 horsepower and a Powerglide. Same drive train as this Camaro. I was 17 then, in 1974.
Back in 1969, when I was 12, my mom had two '69 Corvettes. The first was a silver convertible with a 350 horsepower 350, and the second was a blue coupe with a 390 horsepower 427.
IIRC, the aluminum block 427, which was called the ZL-1, made its way in exactly two 1969 Corvettes, and exactly 69 ( ha!) '69 Camaros.
I built 1/25th scale models of the 1969 Camaro Indy Pace Car, and the Roger Penske/Mark Donahue Sunoco Camaro.
Tiny point, no doubt whiskey-related: the 283 was of course a V8, not an inline six.

Amen Bill, to the nice FL winter weather!
Also, sounds like the timing is a bit too advanced on that Camaro.
    Need somebody to check that.
    Thanks for another great video!

Another Great video Bill! Thanks for all you do! Please do a video on a 1967 Firebird Convertible if you get a chance. I have a '67 Firebird 326 Convertible with 3 speed manual floor shift which my Dad purchased back in '71. It's been in the family since. Love Camaros and all the pony cars. Keep up the great work. Thanks again Bill.

My brother had a 1969 Camero he tried to make into to a muscle car sadly never had enough money. Had body work paint job hood and wheels and tires never had money from engine and transmission and interior. I loved driving it had got rid of it in 1987 when he bought a small ram 59 pick up after it getting into a accident sold it to a coworker.

In the Antiques business, it’s called an honest piece when someone has let it be what it is and not altered it to be something more special. I can only imagine how real that is in the car world. In the antique furniture world it is highly sought after nobody wants a piece of furniture that someone has re-created to be a better example than what it was.

Look like its a official im getting a 1994 4th Gen F-Body Firebird Formula V8 witch means I have to deal with two vehicle hopefully I have to work harder to get my W123 out the shop.. I guess we have to wear mask all the time like 4 years ago. Sometime I wish I had whiskey 🥃 instead of edible candies🍬😱 but I love that year in 1969 especially listening Jimi Hendrix..🎵🎶🥁📻🎸🎉

Well car instruments are sometimes called clocks, but to have an actual clock taking front and center on the dash?!
I owned a 1969 Camaro for about a month, a Colorado car, rust free, I was going to pull the inline six out of it and go the crate motor route, saner heads (at the time) prevailed. But a truly rust free '69, even in the '90s, should've been a good thing.

The people who believe the moon landing was real are the same ones who believe a flu virus with a 99.98% survival rate was a "pandemic" because the MSM told them so.

I much prefer the styling of these compared to the Mustang of that era.
American car styling was influential at that time with cars like the Ford Cortina III here in the UK adopting stateside coke bottle looks.
Japanese cars in those early days also took cues from US cars, the Celica Liftback taking it a stage further looking like a copy of a fastback Mustang.
