    The Palo Alto 911, Panamericana outlaw. Built by ROCS Motorsports for a Californian client is a purpose built, one-off "race-able" street car. It is built in the spirit of the original Panamericana race through 3000km of treacherous roads of Mexico. We hope you enjoy the film.

    There should be no shame in faux details - it is an art craft. Well executed and demands the respect of even the haters.

    This car is the reason I gave R.O.C.S. my '87 3.2 to work on...not to replicate; in fact, not to do anything like this Palo Alto Panamericana. The sheer artistic talent, coupled with the technical "know how", sold me. The work is second to none!

    What you guys have done is pretty amazing and the fact that you let your build do the talking is even more impressive. It's a back to basics hotrod in true American style, using a German car.

    I really enjoyed this video and seeing your car. You really nailed the look. Nothing looks out of place. It's like stepping back in time 50 years. All the components look like they "belong" in the car! Really nice work.

    the body panels (front and rear bumper) are perfect for this car. simple, clean, aesthetically pleasing. not a big fan of "aging" a car for looks, but to each his own. i'm under the belief that age shows the cars history and story...you can't buy that.

    • @wagonista
      @wagonista 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah - they did a great job making the patina look real, but it's kind of a turnoff to know that it's all artificial.

      As you said, It is subjective, so many tribute cars also don't have a "history", backdates, re-imaged cars etc, etc... even factory retro-designs and model name resurrections...these all fall in a very personal segment and certainly will not appeal to everyone and that is OK. This is an art car before anything else but then finely balanced with the ability to be daily driven... We tend to see things slightly different :-) Thank you for commenting.

    This! In an age where everything is about paint protection films, ceramic clear coats, high gloss finishes, touch screen infotainment, computer assisted drivers aids intervening every millisecond,, electronic automatic shifters, etc. etc. etc.... we are presented with a car that is built for just a singular, yet intuitively obvious purpose, to be driven.. This is what the car life is all about IMO and something I am striving to get back to. Take all the fluff and show out of the equation and get back to you & the machine versus the road. A true drivers experience in a unique car that personalized to the owner. These are the types of cars owners build and never sell. These new machines are flipped early and often because they lack the 'soul' these unique and purpose built cars possess. Well done!

    Don’t like the idea of a 3.6 in the early cars. To heavy, way over powered. We built a mag case 2.7 short stroke, and the car weighs 1800 lbs. Really can’t use any more than about 270 horsepower, otherwise it’s a death trap as you say.

    Brilliant, car as well as the thinking behind it. Simply stopped going to museums and most club meetings as nearly all cars are just boring relics without a history, just shiney metal objects. My cars/hobby are/is by most considered as 'ratty tatty'. Only wild & technically 100% but with leaving all its dents/scratches/holes, from former owners. Even one has a bullet hole in it (came from the US in a banana container) etc. Most (even family) ask 'when are you going to restore'... when I am just painstakingly finished getting it perfect working.... Some don't get it & as long 'real provenance' is not compromised, generating a feeling is only what matters (in my life anyway)... Great work you're doing, will look fro more of your uploads...
