Looks like the old maps you would find back in 2010ish era, idle server, chaos server, dead run, surf or a server to hang out with random people but on the bad side it probably have some kind of overly complicated secret that plays weeb music at full volume and turns the colors into vomit.... or has a one sided wall where snipers can shoot from the other side without being hurt.
I really love these kind of maps. Every server with people in it is always those official maps already. With some wacky plugins. I just want to explore strange maps with other people also doing the same
This video makes me realize that all these surreal tf2 maps are essentially like Yume Nikki. Just going around and exploring these weird and unusual worlds sometimes with other smaller worlds and rooms within.

It reminds me of why TF2 is timeless. You can play like an idiot, and it is ENDLESSLY more fun than playing the meta. That's why people like it, and why I have over 3k hours in it.
i miss community servers with custom maps. id spend so much time just playing on trade minecraft neon and realms or finding secrets in achievement maps. shoutouts to sodahappy

And while the map design certainly contributed to this effect, something about the source engine and overall vibe of the game really made you feel like you were deep inside of some gigantic factory/laboratory complex. Kind of the opposite of what is shown here but still somehow a similar vibe

I play these maps all the time because of wolves den lol but it's bittersweet to think I'll stumble upon this video once again in the future when the server might one day be gone and this video will be the one thing that reminds me of it
