For those saying that "you need a hall of fame QB for this to work", you don't NEED a HoF QB. Does it help? You bet your sweet bippy it does. But just having a veteran QB to learn from helps tremendously. Obviously there is Mahomes sitting his first year. Even Lamar Jackson didn't start until halfway through his rookie season.
However, the Packers do have more experience with this strategy than any other team. Let's not forget that they also drafted and developed guys like Mark Brunnell and Matt Hasselbeck who also sat behind Favre. It also depends on the player being developed too, how their work ethic is, the tools they possess, injuries, etc. Look at Trey Lance for example. He was meant to develop behind Jimmy G but once he was handed the starting job, he suffered a season ending injury. He did show some flashes but I think that injury really set him back. I feel personally that the Niners rushed to get Lance on the field. There are so many factors that play into this strategy that it isn't always a sure fire plan.

No they dont. Anders was right on par with most rookie kickers. His own brother stunk as a rookie so the vikings cut him, like most fans want to do with Anders. He went on to become an all-pro with the Raiders. His ST coach with the Raiders was Rich Bissaccia
