I like your baby very much. I have one too, the same color. It's just not a typical Chow Chow, judging from their faces, but they have the same personality. It's very easy to teach them to go to the toilet. They never urinate at home. They are very independent, quiet, and don't destroy the home! The only drawback is shedding. There are no other shortcomings.
Carter is the most cooperative and coolest doggie on this planet . He let Carl does anything to him, he would go along happily . Sooooo amazingly sweet😘😘😍

My 1st dog was a gorgeous fawn chow chow 51 years ago. She was the only chow in my area and like you say, everyone wants to stroke the fluff, and talk to you. She was very timid, typically stubborn and not bothered about playing with any toys. The main issue chow chows have health wise is etropia where the eyelashes curl into their eyes. Mine had to have the op to cut the eyelids back to stop it recurring. She was much better behaved when my mum took her out for walks as obviously me being only 10 my efforts were a bit lacking😂. She did things if she wanted to do them, but if chicken was involved she would walk to heel like a Crufts entrant. Chow chows are adorable but need to be brushed regularly which was one of my jobs as a child. I'm sure my mum did it properly once I'd gone out to play somewhere😮I was going to get another one when I retired but a cute little rescue cavapoo needed a forever home and she came into my life. I'd forgotten what that huge rush of emotion was like when your little fur babies grab your heart❤

Regarding is a Chow Chow right for you...we had two as a kid, the one, female had the temperament like a golden retriever it was totally easy and friendly...sadly she died young in an accident...we got another male from the same USA breeder...was raised the same as the other...he turned out to be what the negative stereotype is to a T. He showed aggression even as a puppy...he ended up biting all the neighbors dogs, and even attacked me once after I was asking him to sit after he had attacked some neighbors dogs, have a scar to this day...he bit some neighbors...he was moved to a farm and he ended up over some years biting the hand that fed him there...he was only non aggressive to one person....someone that really understood the breed and how to handle this type of dog, I think could have been able to manage him properly but, for certain, he required a very skilled person. From reading about Chows since, I think my experience sums it up, there are 'easy' Chows but many of them are not easy, they are quite different than other dogs like they are hard to read and aloof. Also, because they are so cute, people also think they are gonna love attention etc. definitely don't assume that...some are friendly but some are DEFINITELY not. In summary, for sure not a beginner's or family dog unless you get lucky.

There is no alpha male in my family so my chow bite my dad who always feeds him. The other 2 females in the family are me and my mum so we are always vigilant around him. He would warn us with a growl when he wanted to be left alone. we must watch out for tell tale signs. We never let him out alone for fear he would bite strangers when provoked. Most of the times he just ignored humans unless they go into his territory. Surely not a common dog or a dog for beginner

I think chows may have the equivalent of RBF (resting b*tch face) in the doggo world. 😅 It does still catch me off guard when random dogs snarl at mine when they're just trying to be friends.
Sorry my tablet crapped. To continue, Cody ( Red Chow) , and Smokey (same color as Carter). Cody was the oldest , they both lived to 17. Like Carter ,they were beautiful. . After they passed I got a Samoyed. His name was Kenji , he passed in 2022 at 15. Neither of the breeds would sleep in bed with us , I think it was because of the coat, they get too hot very easily. I also believe that because they have so much fur around their heads and faces sometimes other dogs don’t really recognize them as dogs. I love watching Carter, I can really understand why you love him so much.
We had a beautiful chow chow. His name was Grizzly. He lived till he was 15 or 16. He was so playful with our 3 children. We had a trainer to help us at first. 3:54 God bless you.
