      Love the show and have for the last 6 years all the way from Australia 🇦🇺 Sorry Dennis but we have a Airopress (slightly different version in Australia) yours actually works. Ours was hopeless we used it 4wd touring outback Australia over 4 different trips. We actually gave up on it and bought instant as it wasn’t worth the aggravation.

    I used to drive Ram Chargers in Saudi Arabia in the early eighties. All the inspectors drove rams and management drove GMC Jimmy’s. There were no Fords in SA. The Ram Chargers were tough. The Jimmy’s A/C failed immediately the hoods would bend at the crush zones and the electric powered back glass would break out for some reason

    Just a FYI guys, the 440 was not available in 79. You could get the 440 4BBL in 78 but that’s the last year for the 440. Some say the biggest engine available in 79 would’ve been the 400 (I’ve never seen one) but Dodge listed the 360 4BBL as the top option engine in 79 for D/W trucks.

    • @MikeekiM-vh5se
      @MikeekiM-vh5se 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Pretty much correct..
      They did still have the odd 440 truck around especially motor homes until 1981.
      Big Blocks were gone in 1979 400 and 440 were gone but in Heavy Duty,industrial and Motor Homes..

    • @CoastalAutoReactionCAR
      @CoastalAutoReactionCAR 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MikeekiM-vh5se yep, like I said in the D+ W series, it was not available. in Canada, you could order a 440 for an ambulance package in the early 80s or in motorhomes latest one I’ve ever seen is an early 82 build but yeah for the pick up trucks 78 was the end of the big block

    In 2008 I bought a one-owner 1988 Dodge W150 POWER RAM 4x4 with a 318 and the 4-speed standard with granny low from an older gentleman who bought it brand new, it was garage-kept and in immaculate condition with just over 34000 miles on it, it was all completely factory, still had the small tires on the basic steel wheels with those aluminum running-board/steps on it. I loved that truck and I still kick myself for getting rid of it. I ran into a man one day who wanted it bad, and at that moment I was needing some cash so I sold it, and about a year later I saw the truck at a store with a younger guy driving it and it was all beat up. and it turned my stomach, so I talked to the guy, and his dad was the one I sold the truck to, and he had bought it for his son, who was the younger guy driving it that had destroyed the truck. It was just sad.

    • @thatchmo6242

      Probably exactly like my 1983 version of the same truck except I sold it to one of my dad's co-workers that put another 100k miles on it and took great care of it. Don't know whatever happened to it, but I'm glad it was loved.

    I have a factory black 1976 Dodge Power Wagon loaded with top trim,options and a 440...I rebuilt the 440 now a low compression 89 pump gas if needed,but I run 91 octane and 500hp truck.
    I based that 500hp engine on several late 70's truck and motorhome engines I bought and rebuilt..5 were dyno tested and all were withing 10 hp of each other,pretty impressed with myself..Some guys do the same engines and are off by 50 or more.My buddy did several 454 Chevy and he was off by 50..so..I pay myself on my back! I also made 560 torque! I built them for torque but also power and reliability is a big for me..70,000 miles and no issues thus far!

    I had two Ramchargers, a 88' and a 90. The 88 was a 318 4 speed manual150 with factory air. I had that nine years and sold it with 188K miles on it. The 90 was a SE model. It was a 318 automatic, factory air with tilt and cruise. I sold that with 235K miles on it. I had that one thirteen years. Both of them were absolute tanks that went everywhere.

    Have a 1981 D 150 with slant six in the yard. Been a project as I've been converting it to electronic ignition and doing other repairs on it. Love old Dodge D100 and 150 pickups with slant sixes and 318's. I've owned Ford's and Chevy's just never found them as dependable or capable as the Dodges. With the Dodges you just need to learn a couple tricks like adding double roller timing chains to 318's and they just run and run with minor stuff like needing tuneups, starters, and alternators, and maybe a carb rebuild here or there.

    My very first new truck I bought when I was 20 was a 1983 Dodge W150 with a 318 and a 4-speed manual with granny first gear. It was the Miser package, so I added my own stereo, lift kit for 33's and nothing else. The best vehicle I ever owned when Chrysler Corp. quality was less than it should be. I really miss that truck. Especially that ram head on the hood that I always turned to face me.
    And yes Dennis, that opening in the rear was to let the hot air out of the back of the Ramcharger.

I just got it done this winter for the spring and it is cherry I gotta make a video of it one of these days I have a few short videos that I should put up but it had a 440 in it but I swapped it out to the big block 340 with Trick flow heads and trick flow 4 bbl intake the thing is a beast for what it is. and it has caltracs for traction

    One day it stopped... I gave it away a couple weeks later. Then gas jumped way up. I went from 8 -11 mpg to 25. Giving it away was probably very smart......but I miss the muscle that truck had.

    I used to work for a state agency and back in about 1995 I was issued a 1988 Ramcharger for about 8 months from October - April. That thing would go up, over, or through pretty much anything.
