Never enough tree and shrub planting for me Janie. I was getting disappointed all that was going in were perennials and annuals. I love to see the structure go in the garden. More More More.

Love seeing the big pieces like trees going in. These are the bones of a garden space and really define the areas. It's like seeing the future sooner. Enjoyed learning about the planning tools you use. I've seen the ruler and stencil for years in stores and never knew what they did.

Hi Janie! I agree with so many others that watching ALL of your videos is so great, never boring. So much great content. I wanted to share tha I practice regenerative gardening. At the end of the season I CUT my plants, about 3" from the soil. I leave the roots and soil that surrounds them in the soil. The benefits are many. The rotting, decaying roots serve as foods for the existing microbia that lives underground. You don't throw away expensive, already inoculated soil. AND, the best part.....I cut my lisianthis two years ago and left them to feed the soil. In the spring I saw new growth!!!! These same lisianthus have come back and bloomed for me three years in a row !!! The plants are HUGE and soooooo much fuller each year.
I am I. Zone 7 (?), NW Arkansas, in the Ozark Mountains. We have all kinds of winters.....mild thru extremely cold. I did not cover the lisianthus except with the usual layer of mulch that I use on all my beds. Leaves and grass cutting. Since my original discovery I have had many other types of flowers return. It's pretty exciting for me.
Just a thought. Maybe give it a try!

How beautiful these trees will be! Love Crape Myrtles and I am going to push my luck and plant one in my zone 6a and cross my fingers. I will definitely insulate and wrap it to protect it against the harsh winter ice and snow. I have seen a few in my area so I know it is possible. Thank you for another great and informative video.

I love seeing all the trees going in. I have used a board to lay out edging in the same way. I have used graph paper to draw out plans for some of my garden designs. I make one block equal one foot, occasionally if I am doing a detailed sketch of a garden bed I use the type called quad ruled because it has lines that are darker and that represent the foot and the lighter lines are a tenth of a foot.

I planted a crepe Myrtle this spring. They said it was hardy to my zone so I thought I’m going to try it ! Since then I have learned that in my zone 6a crepe Myrtle’s die back to the ground during the winter so now I’m bummed because I wanted a nice medium sized tree and now I believe I’m only going to get a shrub 🥺 still pretty but not exactly what I was hoping for. 🌺💚🙃

Hi Janey! I’ve been looking forward to seeing this space come together as I also have a septic drain field taking up half my backyard 😅 just curious if the pathway or dry creek bed is going to go across it at all? It’s hard to tell where it’s located from the videos. Love the tree planting videos, and can’t wait to see more!

So plant as many trees as you are able, I’ll be along for the ride because in my opinion trees are the frosting and decorations on a cake ! They bring a garden to life ! 🌺💚🙃

Hi Janey, I'd love if you could detail in. video how deep you "plant" the posts and also how difficult is it to take them out ? Do you need a specific tool for that ?
Also, it's interesting to hear gardening point of views...in France there's a saying that around end of november, "everything roots", meaning it would be a great period to plant trees and shrubs because they are already dormant and nutrients are back in the roots and wood/stems; also because the weather is supposed to be more humid and colder (but not frost cold). Here we usually start around now too but we're having some late summer weather more and more so I'm cautious.
ps: Love watching the tree planting videos !

So interesting how you've planned everything out with the drawing. Question: I have a standard hydragenea in a container that has wind damage from a storm. I bought it (sale woo hoo) but it has a lean. I tried to plant it to accommodate for the lean to get it straightened out. Should I remove the stake that is right next to the trunk of the plant so it can hopefully grow straight by following the sun? Thank you very much

So… where is the propane tank going? And shouldn’t you move that first before you get all the trees planted. Moving this tank will be a little of deduction. Been there done that.
