      @shannond7437 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Mad Titan I will go ahead and exclude Infinity War & Endgame due to being hard to compare as it is a saga ending for all of the Avengers. I cannot imagine another MCU film’s character story rebooting their franchise and being this enjoyable. Thor loses everything but his brother and his people. Taika is a gem, and that takes talent. I don’t think many people could pull off JoJo Rabbit either! Props to the teams doing IW & EG, that is a skill to do so well while juggling so many characters & each story.

    • @phillyphillylii916
      @phillyphillylii916 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is both dark and has no stakes at the same time. Which takes a lot away from it in my opinion. I’m one of the very few who thought dark worlds tone made it feel so much more important than ragnarok which I could never take seriously. Good movie? Sure. But it’s a great comedy and a terrible “epic” which it was supposed to be.

    • @thorzyan
      @thorzyan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    14:17 After you mention that half the ship is spared by Thanos, I look at this shot and see Korg, Miek, Heimdall, Thor, Valkyrie and Loki and this also fits into how Thanos spares 50% of them (Valkyrie, Korg and Miek) and kills, or attempts to kill, the other 50%, being Thor, Loki and Heimdall. I don't include Hulk because he's never really an Asgardian, but I do include Korg and Miek because after leaving Sakaar, they really integrate themselves into the Asgardians and make a new home with them, whereas Hulk doesn't do the same.

    If you were a Marvel comics reader back in the 60's and 70's and found any hidden clues or Easter eggs and pointed them out in the fan letter section of the comic book ( they still had a fan mail page in those days ) then you would be awarded a "no-prize" by Stan Lee or one of the editors who usually replied to fan mail. A no-prize was not a physical prize and had no monetary value, it was just a way of acknowledging the readers' dedication and loyalty to Marvel. That's what I love about the MCU, it gives us the same feeling as I did reading Marvel comics when I was growing up and it makes us feel like we are all part of a club or a shared community. From Stan Lee's cameos to the extra after-credit scenes you feel like you are reliving the experience of reading a classic Marvel comic book from the Stan Lee era. So kudos to you sir, your no-prizes are certainly well deserved!

    I'm fairly certain a portion of the score playing near the end (when Thor sat on in the chair before his people, track titled "Where To?"), contains the main theme for Thor composed by Patrick Doyle for the first Thor movie. To me this shows how in the beginning of the first Thor movie he expected the throne, where at the end of Ragnarok he's earned it.

    Also... back on that whole Willy Wonka thing... when you first meet the Grandmaster, he leads you to believe he’s going to let that dude live by “pardoning” him. But immediately kills him. Meaning from that point on you’ll never know if the Grandmaster is telling the truth or not. And that mirrors the exact the message, Gene Wilder (Wonka), wanted to send to the audience. When we first meet Wonka he’s acting like a crippled old man, walking with a cane, and then has the cane get stuck in a brick, having Wonka fall to the ground, but just before he hits the floor, he performs a somersault, lands on his feet and the crowd goes wild.
    But now from that point on we will never know if he’s telling the truth or lying.
    P.s.
    Grandmaster loves music and has his own posse of weird people that are his “friends” and yet are beneath him.

    Also, when we see the older mural, it appears that Odin has both his eyes. This is a reference to Norse mythology as Odin gives up his eye in exchange for wisdom, implying that the reason why Odin got rid of Hela and his warmongering was due to his increase in wisdom, thus highlighting Odin's character arc.

    only two minutes in but one thing you glossed over is the voice of Surtur is done by Clancy Brown who is one of the few to have duel MCU role as he plays Ray Schoonover, aka the Blacksmith in Daredevil season 2 and in flashbacks in Punisher season 1.

    In Thor Dark World it's mentioned that Freya was raised by witches, and that's where Loki learned most of his tricks from.
    The can thrown at Loki is a reference to earlier when he was just an illusion instead of actually being there, another reference to Freya and the Dark World where she does that while Loki is in prison.

    Regarding the foreshadowing of Hela,'s existence, was wondering if anyone else thinks that she was hinted at in the very beginning during Thor's near-coronation scene. When Odin's monologue refers to Thor as his firstborn, the camera cuts to Frigga, whose otherwise celebratory demeanor changes into a look I would call uncomfortable, at best. Some of the family relationships in the movie are not the same as in the comics so its been something of a debate as to who Hela's mother was, leaning towards it not have been Frigga. but that would not preclude her from knowing of Hela's existence, Thoughts?

    There is a point where Thor calls the team The Revengers. Of course the team that actually left Sakaar with Hulk as the main character in the comics was called Warbound. The Revengers were an actual group in the 616 led by Wonder Man. There was another group called the Revengers in the M2 reality that was led by Hope Pym who went by the Red Queen. Although Revengers could have been another foreshadowing as the Avengers from the Cancerverse were also known as the Revengers and were destroyed when Thanos brought Death to their Deathless reality.

    I think one detail that gets overlooked is Karl urban (the executioner) kinda portrayed as doom guy in the original DOOM art with him standing on a mound and shooting enemies while being attacked during the last battle of the movie when he jumps off the ship to aid in the battle. He is the main character in the movie DOOM.

    Here's something else i just thought about. Frigga turns to stardust (or whatever) when she dies in the Dark World. Odin also turns to dust when he dies in Ragnarok. Loki never turned to dust, nor did any of the other Asgards that were killed. Not sure the significance of that.

    Two details:
    1) Loki says he can't see the future because he's not a witch, and indeed, the Scarlet Witch can -- she gives everyone visions in AoU, that though cryptic, turn out to be real.
    2) One of the other faces on the Grandmaster's tower is Bi-beast (the head on top of another head), an old Hulk enemy.

    177A Bleecker Street, New York City your hear a mix of the music for BBC’s Sherlock Holmes starring Benedict Cumberbatch. The address for the Santorum is also a play on Sherlock Holmes’ flat which is 221 Baker Street.

    You missed the Dez & Troy names for the rifles of Skurge. The main joke is they combine to make the word destroy. The secondary joke is he pulled them from Texas, which is also a reference to Dez Bryant & Troy Aikman from the Cowboys.

    Well, it’s not the same Shady Acres from Ace Ventura. It’s named after it because of the guy who came up with it worked on both movies I believe. It’s named after himself, just changed a bit obviously
