No need to apologize for hitting up the Cheesecake Factory. I’ve lived in a town without one nearby for the last 20 years and if I was tired and there were twenty fancy restaurants to choose from, I’d probably choose the Cheesecake Factory. The food is delicious and you know what you’re getting. Hope you enjoyed our Capitol!

Grew up in Baltimore. My uncle helped build the tunnel you drove through. Moved to San Diego from Spring City. I'd get coffee and gas at the WaWa across from the Kilt store and often hike the trail next to the bridge you opened with. DC has changed a lot since I knew it in the 60's and 70's and 80's. All a long ass way of saying that was great fun and, thanks. This one was kind of like home movies.

So, birds, like people, have schedules to keep and shit to do everyday. In the morning, they have their morning meeting, and maybe to a few practice laps in their parking lot of choice, then during the day, they forage, and at night they come back for flight school. They do this every day, across all species. It's all very regimented and organized. You can almost set your watch by it.

I live in a small town in northern Wisconsin. People here know me for wearing kilts. There are a few other people that I met that wear them "all the time". I have worn a kilt while traveling for the past several years, and people are always wanting to get a picture with me. Sometimes people put on a fake Scottish accent and ask me silly questions. One time a man approached me at an airport with a real good "fake accent" and asked me about the kilt. Turns out his accent was real. He was from Scotland. I love wearing a kilt. I have several lesser expensive to wear about day to day, and a fancy one I got in St Andrew for special occasions. I also just got another one from a company called Damn Near Kilt'em. It's green for St Patrick's Day. My mother's side is from Scotland and my dad's side is from Ireland.

I have neve known a Scottman from your country but Years ago had an encounter with a gentleman from Edinburgh at a Highland event here in the US representing Kilts sales. Very nice with great humor and like you - much expression in his voice while speaking. Left me with a very good impression of people from your country. When I was studying architectural drafting in 1986 in Seattle I was tasked with studying and sketching job sites. I spent a bit of time sketching what is now 1201 3rd AVE in downtown Seattle which is now a major skyscraper here. They preserved a corner of a turn of the century brick building facade, so just the outer brick on the lower NW corner on 2nd. They had to erect a lot of steel scaffolding to keep it intact while they built the new building into it.

Stocked trout means the local government has released a large amount of trout bred from stocks in government facilities. It’s to help replenish the lost trout in the local ecosystem. Honestly these look exactly the same brown with spots but these stocks don’t really have much genetic diversity meaning it’s all the same type of fish. They are a fun fish to catch but releasing it back is what you should do. You should find the other two species of trout (rainbow and Speckled) as they look better and are great eating fish within the limits of course.

Yeah, the houses surrounded by the office building and parking deck, that happens a lot in the United States. Here, if the homeowner doesn't want to sell, they can't be forced to by a private developer. The most famous case of this happened in New York to Donald Trump. He tried to force an elderly couple out of their house to build a property, and he couldn't. So they built around the house.

I live in Kansas City and kilts are not so uncommon that anyone would have a problem seeing a man anywhere in a kilt. Most men I know well have a kilt (though it may no longer fit). The only people looking are wondering if your plaid is better than theirs or wondering why they can't get their guy in a kilt. Ha! Many do not have a sgian dubh in their sock (my son wouldn't wear his kilt without it). Enjoy the US. If you're ever in the area, would love to show you both around KC.

People can just s#*%k it, Shaun. Eat where you wish. Really recommend the Navajo, if the menu has it ( chicken breast, lettuce, red onion, and tomato on Native American fry bread). If not, the Skinnylicious turkey burger works, comes with a salad, and leaves you a bit of room for cheesecake (so far, my fav is the choc hazelnut crunch. But I haven't tried them all. If I keep going 1x every 3 yrs, I might make it through all of them before I die! 😄)

We have no mens clothing here that corresponds to a kilt and so some people who don't understand that a kilt is a man's garment in Scotland might think you were 'cross dressing.' Kilts and skirts were in fact men's apparel until the mid 1500's when they slowly began to creep into women's fashions. These clothing items were originally for men only, specifically soldiers. The military of many countries: Ireland, Scotland, Greece, Egypt, Italy, and many countries in Central Asia wore them to fight their enemies. So when you see a woman wearing a skirt or kilt just remember they are wearing men's clothes. As for pants, surprisingly a queen in Central Asia created them for both her female soldiers and her male ones as well. The trousers were brightly patterned to confuse the enemy, and eventually caught on in Europe. However, the females of that continent saw them as silly garments, and continued to were long robes, and dresses instead.
