This is a pretty depressing commercial. It's that type of thing that you see once in a while, and it seems sorta artsy. All you see is that these 10 y.o. kids destroyed a giant robot with some psychic powers. But then the next thing you see is some giant death cloud thing. Which sorta implies that a bunch of people are dead.(Which doesn't seem like the case if you play the game) It's still pretty creepy though.
It's not a death cloud also, what the heck even is a death cloud lol, do you mean a mushroom cloud from a nuke?? And if that's the case why would they be going towards it? It's literally just a mountain with a cloud over it like Death Mountain in Ocarina of Time, I can see why you might think that it is one but it just irk's me when ppl fetishize death and pain and depression into being like cool and edgy like it's a great commercial and game on it's own merits
I'm actually wanting to direct movies for the Mother series when I get older. I've replayed the games so many different times. I've thought about this idea so much that I've visualized how the scene are going to act out in my head.
I just hope it's a possibility. Like, I want them to be viewed internationally and all of that good stuff, and I'm not sure how open Nintendo would be to the idea.

It has always bugged me that this game was never released outside of Japan at the time. I honestly think that it would have been more suitable for western audiences than Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest.
Little late, but at the time RPGs weren't that popular here in the west. And Pokemon wasn't even out yet so Nintendo kind of got cold feet and shelved it. Didn't help the SNES was already super popular here so they probably didn't see the point.
Played and finished this game a few weeks ago for the first time. Not only am i surprised how well this game holds up for being released in 1989, i am also surprised that i actually felt feels that i not always feel in video games, even in modern ones. It truly is a masterpiece.
Holy shit, I remember seeing this commercial in 2007 on the website iFilm. I tried looking for it but to no luck never found it. Today, I was browsing covers and versions of Pollyanna and one of the vids had the image of a part of a commercial with the name "EarthBound Zero" so I searched for that but in the end I typed "live action" and this popped up... I finally found it :') -M
The thing about the Mother series sometimes we don't know what some games or what the lesson is, its about, its about love and never giving up on your dreams. May us the fans praise and love the game. ❤
I think Ninten was only able to do PK Beam because Ana was helping and they were combining their psychic powers so PK Beam was stronger, or something. Idk. Just trying to make sense out of that :P lol On another note, I just love this ad, it's amazing and I really like the costume designs for Ninten Ana and Loid/Lloyd ^.^ It would be so cool if they made film shorts based off the game, or something.
I don't think that's how PK works in the Mother series. PK works through the mind and focusing on what is about to be casted. Of course, with a little learning on how to cast them. In this case, Ninten doesn't know how to learn PK Beam.
Having played 2 and 3 and not knowing a single thing about the first, I must say that it is so worth playing Mother 1 and the story adds so much to what happens in the rest of the series.

This game is definitely the best game on the NES, _and_ my favorite game on the system. I play it pretty much yearly to biyearly because it's _that_ fantastic and powerful to me.

I haven't seen this commercial in the longest of time. I decided to watch it yesterday and chills began going up my spine and then warmth consumed. I began to cry. Sean Jefferson Itoi got the inspiration for the title from a John Lennon song. When Mother 1 was being localized for western audiences, they changed the title to "Earth Bound", but that game was never released (until recently). From then on, the title was carried onto the localization for Mother 2.
Oh, so this song was in the album as well - that explains it. It is definitely an album worth getting, last time I checked they were still in stock at Amazon.
This video was uploaded the year I was born.... Also, this is such a cool commercial! It literally looks JUST like how Earthbound Beginnings/Mother 1 would look like as a live action 80s film (And I know that because I'm a Gen Z teen who grew up with 80s to 90s shows and movies and watched Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Sonic SATAM, Sonic Underground, the old 80s Care Bears movies, Super Mario 3, all 3 of the TMNT 90s movies, TMNT 1987, TMNT: The Next Mutation when I was 4-7 years old), and since I grew up with the Earthbound franchise and started playing when I was 8 (and fell in love with the game), it's honestly sad and disappointing that they didn't make a live action movie of Mother 1/Earthbound Beginnings in the 80s, and a live action one for Mother 2/Earthbound in the 90s. I haven't finished ANY of the Earthbound games ever since I downloaded it from the Nintendo Eshop on my Wii U when I was 8 (never played Mother 3 either because they haven't localized it yet :( ), and I just started continuing Earthbound like 2 years ago, so yeah.

windy I'm talking about the music and the fight sequences. In Mother 1 there's a strange feeling whenever you get in a fight. The sprites are creepy and the music is... alright. But in the part when you go in the basement, I was afraid that I'd get raped, you heard correctly, RAPED! In Earthbound the music is always lively and there's so many things going on. There's cars driving around, people being happy. The battle sequences where very fun, colors in the background and it doesn't use random encounters (which makes every fight in mother 1 feel like a jumpscare). This is why I prefer Earthbound over Earthbound Beginnings.
Desmond Magi Well, you gotta understand, technical limitations on the Famicom/NES didnt allow for what Earthbound accomplished. The devs did what they could with the hardware they had.

I've never played Earthbound, but this commercial is absolutely stellar. Emotional and spectacular, it's simply amazing.
You should get it, if you can`t find a physical copy, get an emulator, it`s a game worth playing, and more.

Played and finished this game a few weeks ago for the first time.
Not only am i surprised how well this game holds up for being released in 1989, i am also surprised that i actually felt feels that i not always feel in video games, even in modern ones.
It truly is a masterpiece.

Holy shit, I remember seeing this commercial in 2007 on the website iFilm. I tried looking for it but to no luck never found it. Today, I was browsing covers and versions of Pollyanna and one of the vids had the image of a part of a commercial with the name "EarthBound Zero" so I searched for that but in the end I typed "live action" and this popped up... I finally found it :')

At first I thought those kids were Ness, Paula and Jeff. Upon realizing he had a scarf I realized those kids were Ninten, Ana and Lloyd.

I think Ninten was only able to do PK Beam because Ana was helping and they were combining their psychic powers so PK Beam was stronger, or something. Idk. Just trying to make sense out of that :P lol
On another note, I just love this ad, it's amazing and I really like the costume designs for Ninten Ana and Loid/Lloyd ^.^ It would be so cool if they made film shorts based off the game, or something.
I don't think that's how PK works in the Mother series. PK works through the mind and focusing on what is about to be casted. Of course, with a little learning on how to cast them. In this case, Ninten doesn't know how to learn PK Beam.

Having played 2 and 3 and not knowing a single thing about the first, I must say that it is so worth playing Mother 1 and the story adds so much to what happens in the rest of the series.

Juegazo, me sorprende que mucha gente lo considere injusto, literal con solo grindear un cacho eres invencible. (bueno, solo si Ana aprende PK fire Omega y PK freeze Omega, PK Beam r esta rotisimo también)

@xHollowStrawberry The series is popular among the niche crowd because of its non-traditional setting (in the sorta' present, with weapons like bats and frying pans instead of the usual swords and axes), odd characters and enemies, diverse and memorable soundtrack (which many claim to be the reason why the games aren't readily available elsewhere; due to potentially copyright-infringing takes on melodies of other artist's songs), and story that isn't too pretentious.

I think there's better choices than Ninten because they would probably make him too similar to Ness. How about Starman or Kumatora or Duster?

They can make several things to differ him from Ness, like a different-coloured shirt and neckerchief, as seen in this commercial.
But if I'm honest, it's fine if he was just a costume if costume DLC is ever a thing.
***** And the fact that he uses the same weapons as Ness, and since he doesnt use offensive PSI much they would probably give him the same PSI moves as Ness or Lucas, they would almost definitely make Ninten to Ness like Dr.Mario is to Mario.

This game is definitely the best game on the NES, _and_ my favorite game on the system. I play it pretty much yearly to biyearly because it's _that_ fantastic and powerful to me.
Not even until Halo 3's commercials had the punches pulled.
This commercial makes me feel a certain way and I can't explain it. I can't watch it without crying or feeling a hint of sadness. I really wish I was alive during the late 80's. Modern times are such ass.

I haven't seen this commercial in the longest of time. I decided to watch it yesterday and chills began going up my spine and then warmth consumed. I began to cry. I don't understand why but, this is the first time I've ever cried for a video game in my life.

Sean Jefferson Itoi got the inspiration for the title from a John Lennon song. When Mother 1 was being localized for western audiences, they changed the title to "Earth Bound", but that game was never released (until recently). From then on, the title was carried onto the localization for Mother 2.

Also, this is such a cool commercial! It literally looks JUST like how Earthbound Beginnings/Mother 1 would look like as a live action 80s film (And I know that because I'm a Gen Z teen who grew up with 80s to 90s shows and movies and watched Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Sonic SATAM, Sonic Underground, the old 80s Care Bears movies, Super Mario 3, all 3 of the TMNT 90s movies, TMNT 1987, TMNT: The Next Mutation when I was 4-7 years old), and since I grew up with the Earthbound franchise and started playing when I was 8 (and fell in love with the game), it's honestly sad and disappointing that they didn't make a live action movie of Mother 1/Earthbound Beginnings in the 80s, and a live action one for Mother 2/Earthbound in the 90s. I haven't finished ANY of the Earthbound games ever since I downloaded it from the Nintendo Eshop on my Wii U when I was 8 (never played Mother 3 either because they haven't localized it yet :( ), and I just started continuing Earthbound like 2 years ago, so yeah.
So that's where that Ninten design came from...

windy I'm talking about the music and the fight sequences. In Mother 1 there's a strange feeling whenever you get in a fight. The sprites are creepy and the music is... alright. But in the part when you go in the basement, I was afraid that I'd get raped, you heard correctly, RAPED! In Earthbound the music is always lively and there's so many things going on. There's cars driving around, people being happy. The battle sequences where very fun, colors in the background and it doesn't use random encounters (which makes every fight in mother 1 feel like a jumpscare). This is why I prefer Earthbound over Earthbound Beginnings.
Desmond Magi Well, you gotta understand, technical limitations on the Famicom/NES didnt allow for what Earthbound accomplished. The devs did what they could with the hardware they had.
