There are lots of North American sports teams over 100 years old. It's just that the teams are seen as franchises for businesses and not cultural institutions.
I'm not a Crew fan. But I refuse to play Austin FC in Football Manager. Because Precourt. And this despite the fact i played 6yrs as manager of Evil Empire RB Leipzig. No. I grew up in Minnesota when we lost the North Stars.(And almost the Twins.) Lived in Seattle when the Sonics bolted. And now love in SW Missouri and had a ringside seat for the Rams re-leaving. (Now, no emotion for the last, because I don't root for St Louis anything). So I get a fanbase's rage at their team doing an Indy Colts. I don't blame the city of Austin. But until Precourt is gone, they're on the list of teams we hate.
A good business move for the MLS would be t0o franchise teams wherever NFL close or move. eg start an Oakland Raiders MLS team (just make the logo slightly different to avoid copyright issues) and tap into a huge and frustrated raiders fanbase in their spiritual home of Oakland.
As a non-Columbus fan Austin will be hated by many 1st because of Precourt, and secondly because of how they got into MLS. And the story will be told and retold for years to come. And if San Antonio can survive, and IF we ever get Pro-Rel got danggit that rivalry will also be heated.

Yall can be mad all you want, but its legit one sided. A large portion of us dont even realize yall hate us, and an even smaller percentage probably care 🤣. Like the video said, just get over it man.
I'm Italian and I can say that I don't really understand this "American practice" of moving professional teams from a city to another one, fortunately there are few examples like that in Europe, and I think that it's not even so easy to do that because most of football clubs
foundation here dates back over a hundred years ago and there is a very strong link between cities and their clubs...I've been following MLS for a long time and yeah I'm so happy for Crew supporters.
You see that across all sports in North America and there are certain cities that are still scarred from this.
There are lots of North American sports teams over 100 years old. It's just that the teams are seen as franchises for businesses and not cultural institutions.
Move to the southside of Chicago so you can meet Andre Reynolds
The new Columbus crew logo is beautiful what you talkin about
I'm not a Crew fan.
I think the original logo was badass
I'm not a Crew fan but, screw Austin FC lmaoo
7:13 yassss mon the Celtic 💚🍀
4:23 not only is Austin getting a soccer team, they are getting the only professional sports team for the capital of Texas. Think about that.
A good business move for the MLS would be t0o franchise teams wherever NFL close or move. eg start an Oakland Raiders MLS team (just make the logo slightly different to avoid copyright issues) and tap into a huge and frustrated raiders fanbase in their spiritual home of Oakland.
Great video, from a Leeds Fan, #MOT #ALAW #WAFFL
Ya know the old saying "I only root for two teams, X and whoever plays against Y"?
I wonder what RSL fans are gonna do when Kansas City Plays Austin
Can someone please come in and buy Houston Dynamo?! The last time Dynamo were relevant in MLS I was in elementary picking my nose :(
As a non-Columbus fan Austin will be hated by many 1st because of Precourt, and secondly because of how they got into MLS.
And the story will be told and retold for years to come. And if San Antonio can survive, and IF we ever get Pro-Rel got danggit that rivalry will also be heated.
Please make save the crew next video please
The save the Crew movement was in vain because they changed the logo into this weird shit now. And seriously what was wrong with the three guys just staring into the distance like they're high?
i havent even watched this video and the answer is always yes
University of Texas football is more or less a professional team. And very popular.
I thought Chivas 2.0 was already the villains in MLS
Don the con Garber is the number one enemy because he allowed this nonsense. Every MLS fan should be livid Precourt not paying an expansion fee is a league wide disaster.
Austin FC expansion= Great idea
First phase of Execution was subpar but the ball has really gotten rolling and Austin will be a great soccer community.
A lot of Crew fans are still in the "Blame Precourt for everything" phase. When do you think crew fans will put pressure on themselves and their owners to perform?
This aged well
What you want between Austin and Columbus is beef, my friend.
Delicious
I’m a Crew fan, so yes.
I am very excited to have Austin FC in the league. I think Austin will be a great home for a team. It’s fits the demographics well and the branding is looking good so far. I know the situation was not ideal when Precourt tried to relocate the crew, but now both will be in a better situation
I wish it were San Antonio and not Austin that got the team, I think San Antonio is a better market and they already had a soccer-specific stadium with expansion plans that were super cool.
To many poors in San Antonio.
