After Berube yelled at them, Lorentz started hopping up and down on the bench and banging his stick cuz. he was fired up. I really loved that moment. :) Love that guy. So Steve's reaction to that (11:00) is understandable.
I don't think he needs to do that every game, cuz it can get old when a guy is yelling at ya, but it was a definite moment when having a really good coach that knows when to pick you up and when to kick you in the ass, came through.
Uh… Steve… Matthews has well over 350 goals. That was just his 200th AT HOME.

That time out moment was HUGE. Absolutely HUGE. 60mins boys. Complete Game. Don't get comfortable, complacent, or lazy. You won't win all the games but the effort needs to be there EVERY NIGHT. Love it.
I agree with peace and tranquility when Stolarz is in net but, literally, everytime he leaves the net to play it I'm downright terrified. Dude is trying to be Markstrom except he manages to make it back to his net in time.
Actually that's one of his specialties, get used to it 😮 plus he's a big strong dude 😅yowsers

Being completely incapable of playing the puck is a long and proud Maple Leafs tradition. They haven't had a better-than-average puck-handler since Glenn Healy.

Right? Like, the results are the same as under Keefe, but the WAY they are playing and winning gives me a small bit of optimism for the playoffs.
He went up and down everyone on the ice after the kings second goal and screamed at everyone and they scored another goal and didnt let any more in.
The Oilers had more playoff success - when Gretzky played a more team oriented game scoring less goals.
Is it possible for the Leafs to have regular & playoff successes (even say just getting into the third round) with Matthews generating more assists & scoring less goals? 😀

Since visiting Canada 18 months from the UK I know absolutely FA about the NHL but the Leafs are now my team after meeting two great guys prior to the play offs that year.

So I watched this game at work last night. When LA made it 5-2 in the third, my first thought was Dangles gotta be having a stroke right now 🤣. My second was this is starting to become a dangit. Enjoy reaping the benefits of St. Louis' idiocy in firing Chief Steve, cause god I miss him. Chief knows how to get it done and he knows how to win, soooo yea when Chief screams at you to pull your head outta your ass it really is in your best interest to do that. Watching that game I'm actually pretty excited to see what the Leafs do this year (And thats from a Blues/Devils fan).

I was saying to a friend of mine last night that if they allowed a third goal, I wouldn't want to be them at the next practice. Picture it if you will, you walk into the dressing room and you see someone lacing up, but you think hmm, he looks familiar but he isn't a teammate. You can't really see much because he's in full gear including helmet, you start getting ready and he looks up and stands up. It's Berube, in full gear, and he gives you that Sam the Eagle glare and says "Alright boys, hitting drills today. Because APPARENTLY YOU ALL FORGOT HOW TO DO THAT WHEN YOU GOT UP 5 to NOTHING IN THE GAME!!!"

I'm a King's fan who has lurked on your videos for a LOONNGGG time, but never commented. I enjoy all that you do. With that being said, you know how you say Toronto is always responsible for an NHL record being set against them? For the Kings it's slumps. Haven't scored a goal in ages? Play LA. Struggling power play? Play LA. Massive losing streak (not Toronto tonight, just in general)? Play LA.
Kings are STRUGGLING with pretty much everything right now, but if there's something to lean back on it's the fact that we're already super hurt where it matters most (1D, 1G) in a time where there have been massive systems changes and a ton of young kids are learning the NHL game. I'm looking forward to playing Toronto again in late March. Hopefully LA is much more the team they hope to be then, and we get a true litmus test against you guys. Cheers, and hope the season continues to go well for the Leafs.

The power play is one of the most hilariously frustrating things about the Leafs.
They suck at zone entries
There isn't any set formation (Mitch was in front of the net for the 1st PP goal and playing bumper for the 2nd )
But as soon as they get in the zone, they don't even need a grade A chance to score!
Having 3x 40 goal scorers means they just rely on elite skill to get it done
Berube terrifies me. In that timeout I personally felt I needed to block a puck!!!
