Your old rake was still good. All you needed was a new handle. Take the rake part off the old handle by undoing the screw or fastener and put it on a new handle which you can get at any home improvement store.

Hi, when my neighbor bought tools, he would take apart and drill two holes thru the handle and the utensil, hoe, potato rake, etc. and put bolts in there and they would never come off.
when the shareholders of the board started to tell the ceo's what when how to keep costs down and make them more profit, or they will fire, force resignations, and replace those , non compliant ceo's. its a shame that they do this, and yes our quality in goods has almost left...

It's not the people in the factory. It is the design and inferior materials. Manufacturers don't want to build a lifetime rake because they would go out of business. The rake can be easily fixed and made better than new.
The problem with the rake had nothing to do with the factory workers. The maker of the rake is being cheap by not having the rake screwed or welded to the handle. Easy to fix.

Post 10 had same-o problem with rake.....drilled a hole & put screw through shaft to hold rake head. :)
You need a heavy duty potato rake like Terrell Spivey, those potato rakes are for light jobs on the garden
