    Ariel,
Thank you for your comment. I have only made 1 sculpture so far, however, I have designs for 3 more and I am working on a model that I am planing to turn into another full size piece. To be honest, I have not thought about selling it, as setting a price would be difficult. The sculpture seems quite simple, but there is lot of laser cut material ,bearings and welding used in the construction.

I totally agree, he made some fantastic kinetic sculptures. This is my first one, so I hope I can get better.

So far so good. The sculpture is a little deceiving, it weighs in at 70 kg and has a lot of internal bracing to keep it very stiff. It has survived gale force winds, which don't really make it turn any faster, but more erratically, in fact the wind that moves it can also bring it to a halt.

George Rickey played like a child but thought like a very wise man.

With a feedback of only 50% I'm sure they're not going to send out anything like what you made Rob!

Thanks for the comments, however, the plans are not available. Be careful where you position your sculpture, as you can imagine a stainless steel sculpture is usually quite heavy and the components can be tempting for people to stick there hands in and around.

Ive been thinking about you comment for some time now. George Rickey did make some nice sculptures put did you know they quickly fell apart? A team was hired to go around and fix ALL of his sculptures because one after the other became weak and eventually broke. I dont see this one in the video breaking anytime soon.

just saw this. fantastic work. I'm building a kinetic sculpture for home also. it is about 100kg. could i ask what bearings you used here. Simple deep groove ball bearings or something special ? i'm having trouble getting the right motion

    • @RobMorreychannel
      @RobMorreychannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Sorry Andrew mist your comment. I use normal stainless steel deep groove bearings but I remove the grease seals as they add to much friction. The sculpture is very heavy, but it doesn't really matter that much, balance is more important.

Hi Rob. Not sure if you are still making these but was very impressed. Have you made any more? What kind of bearings do you use? Thanks

Hi Ja, I have only made one of the wind things for my own garden. I have made a couple of trial wind sculptures made of wood, but just for fun really, you can see them as 3D models at my web site on you tube. th-cam.com/video/MBEs9mUBhGo/w-d-xo.html (unashamed plug).
I used four bolt flanged bearings with stainless steel bearings with the seals removed, as they add a lot of drag. I use stainless steel as water will get into the bearings and they will just rust and seize. Hope this helps.

I thought I found it in the free music by you can get from TH-cam, but I can't find it now, it was quite a long time ago.

      Hi Archie. I have been
thinking about making another sculpture, in fact I have just posted a 3d
animation of it. It is called rotating open cubes, take a look and let me know
      what think th-cam.com/video/PTUJK7kAibs/w-d-xo.html.
      Nice to hear from you
      Rob

I saw the 3D model and it looks fantastic! Would love to see you accomplish that Rob. Of course I'm still partial to your original one and long for it to be in my back yard!
Please tell me that your Brother didn't wind up with it! LOL

      Hi Rob,
I love what you made here! We have a number of different kinetic pieces in our yard but nothing like this! Was wondering what became of this piece and if you made any others?
      Thanks for responding Rob.
