    I was lucky enough to grow up around John as my mom was married to his 1st cousin. However I was so young I didn't know what a gift I was getting listening to his band practice or Jam out in my step dads garage in Seymour.

    John Cougar Mellancamps music has always spoken to me, when I was a 17yo Canadian girl, moved to the USA, now here I am 58 and an American living in my little pink house. His music transcends race, class and time.

    Finally saw the show. So glad Lisa joined him on this tour. She’s a bad ass on that fiddle. It even looks like the same one she used back in the day.

    The people thinking this song is one that is praising America really havent listened to the words. And I dont mean just listening to the chorus, but the whole damn song. Just like Born In The USA. Listen to the words!

      A conspiracy has got to be in there somewhere. I know I've heard subliminally "Let's go buy a teyota and make japan great again" on "Born In The USA" since its release in '84.

    "how you could stop a clock" I find this a weird lyric because it was usually used as an insult about a woman's appearance but he uses it (I guess) as a compliment.

    Nice. I always liked John down through the years. I've got most of his cassette tapes and albums. But he really turned me off when he was against the war on terrorisim, then then his keyboard player got busted for child porn on the computer.

      Always took this as a sarcastic song myself, maybe it's not though

    • @DellaStreet123
      @DellaStreet123 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@erichowell3386 It is a sarcastic song -- it takes a very cynical view on the American dream. Some people decided to build an interstate straight through somebody's front yard. A Black man's, of course. This would never have happened in an affluent neighborhood. And, like the greasy-haired young man listening to the radio, most of us will never be President. Ever. The idea that, in America, you can everything you want and be everything you want to be as long as you work hard enough is simply not true.
