You guys show how well a family can work together towards a common goal. You are a inspiration to those of us lucky enough to have found your Channel. Always looking forward to your next video!
greetings folks; this may seem forward and uncalled for BUT i wish i had a helpmeet like ms. jules that would be beside me constantly and watching out for me all the time. may God continue to bless all of you........................g
I’m in 1 of the darkest and most depressed place of my entire life! Your videos make me smile and think of happier times of my past and Hope to have them again! You’re God fearing people and way better people than me! Thank you for just being you!
Get out of the darkness. When I get there I think of my brother who died 6 years ago. He seemed to enjoy everyday and would be happy to be here no matter what. Now he is in heaven. Go to a local church, listen to the service, talk with the other members. Enjoy.
I'm not even religious, but like being around God *loving* people. I avoid "God fearing" people. It's the positive attitude that's pro-life. You've got to look up, not down.
With temps climbing, we all need to remember to take breaks from the heat and direct sun, heavy lifting, and be sure to drink plenty of water. This is hard work and you all are making such great progress. Good for you!
Martin!! You didn't use a concrete bonding agent. Not always needed, but always a very good idea. Kudos to Sara running the tractor and pitching in with the hard work! Ya'all need to let Sara do more narration! Great job! If the inspector fusses about the buried pipe, show him the video!
Hi. I hate it when people tell me I should do this or that and I just want to get the job done. That said I have stage 3 COPD and I can’t be fixed. So please for me wear a dust mask when you grind the concrete. You and the family are great, the kind of people we wish we were friends with so stay safe. Al from Thailand
I am from Iraq, I subscribe to your channel and I like your work and your family as an excellent team and my English is not good. I would like to congratulate you on your new home and wish you good luck and a beautiful life for you ❤️👍💪💪👍
I just love you guys, all 4 (and extras). Been watching since you returned from Indonesia. Hard labor(labour to me) and excellent commentary. You're naturals. You hit on my usual problem. 2'-8", I cut 28". Oh, more waste.
Don't know about in the US but over here regs require that pipes/cables have a marker, a coloured plastic mesh, buried above them so that if somebody is digging they will come across the mesh way before they hit the pipe. The colour indicates what is buried.
Never a bad idea for a drink break. HD has those cooling towels. Get some big floppy hats. Keep a bucket of water for the dogs in the shade and drape a wet towel over your head.
I know you guys get a lot of comments but if you use your speed square as a straight edge for your circular saw you’ll find cutting boards much easier. Love your channel and your Idaho life. We are in Syracuse, utah.
When building I always have a set of as build plans that items like the buried gas line gets measured and but on the plan for future reference. It has saved me many a times. Also pictures lots of pictures. A bonding agent could of been used on the existing concrete so the new sticks to it. ie: watered down white glue. Gas line should have had a tracer wire and ID tape buried half way. No other wires allowed in the trench here.
I totally agree that was an accident waiting to happen with Jules using that grinder while bending down could wrap her hair around the grinder with drastic results?
With the massive expense of the 2x12s why not spray a release agent against the part of the board that hits the concrete or even some sort of plastic or house rap to keep the concrete off the boards..
A cool trick for getting air out of concrete. Take your hammer drill or any tool that vibrates and hold it to the side of the boards. Vibrate the wood.
Chuckie sister 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 it took my Brain a couple seconds to click in but Once it did I started laughing out loud and my wife just gave me the weird looks. I wasn’t expecting that…. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Looking so great guys !!! I loved the 'chucky's sister' comment as that was EXACTLY what I was thinking. Fun fact... nearly every time I watch a video, I say to my husband.... "we're gonna go visit the Johnsons one day.. in the Covid free future.. LOL... and won't it be cool to have watched all this from start to finish "
Jules, you have eye, ear and hand protection grinding the cement but I'm pretty sure Safety Sally would prefer you to wear a dust mask to protect you from the concrete dust.
Hi Martin and Julie!!! Alfredo here from Havana, Cuba... Nice work there joining the house and the garage!! By the way, why don't you put your solar panels on the roof??!! You could put a lot more of panels, that would make more KWp, ergo more power for the house (you could even plan for AC on the house and the garage)... and, with the panels up there, you could make the most of the solar energy, less shading means more energy, more power for you guys... what do you think??!!
Not necessarily better. In a clear setting, output would be the same, and servicing would be a lot harder on the roof, not to mention compromising the roof integrity, and perhaps increasing insurance rates.
@@stephensaines7100 But solar panels, in the current position, are shaded for some parts of the day; hence, are being inefficient and not giving the solar power expected from them...
I do concrete for a living. I'm not sure what it costs for you ready mix from the plant but I can almost guarantee you that it's cheaper than bag. Last time I figured it was over 3 times the price per yard and you have the work of mixing it. I understand its probably more expensive there but I would check before doing much.
Yeah, I always wear a dust mask when mixing concrete. The powder is nasty stuff for your lungs. But great job! You guys are true workers and will really get to enjoy the fruits of all your labors!!
So... are we not gonna talk about those bikes in the garage there ? There’s a nice off road park in Naples be warned it’s sandy though and Canfield in cda has some amazing trails to ride 😀😀
One thing that I learned how to deal with those 80 pound bags of concrete mix easier is to lay the bag (in the middle) on top of a piece of rebar on the ground, take a box cutter and cut side to side width way (directly in line with the rebar underneath) then grab each end of the rebar and pull upwards in a rocking motion until you rip through the paper. That 80 pound bag now just made 2 40 pounders! way easy!! :) Also you might want to invest into a cement mixer from home depot around $300 but well worth it.
I love cement.... to walk on. As far as mixing and pouring, its for the birds as my back still hurts after twenty years ago bucketing a wall that was twenty feet long and almost ten feet high and six inches thick. No more five gallon buckets of going up a ladder in a crawl space to do the wall by hand. I have never moved so fast trying to keep up with four eighteen year old kids doing the hand over hand and finish a wall cause we didn't use the pump truck so the guy could save a few dollars. Hope that you had a great fourth
Hello, folks. =) Nice job, excelent results. One tip though... sometimes, if you have a hammer drill (the one with option to just hammer) you can use it as a vibratory source on the form, obviously in the only hammer setting.. ;) It works fine, as long you use it often.. The stick method is also ok, but it's laborious and you can't get sometimes in tight spots or around the armature.. depends on the design.. Keep on, getting closer every day. Anyway, I would avoid grinding concrete for better bonding reasons. =)
You guys show how well a family can work together towards a common goal.

Always looking forward to your next video!
You are very kind. Thank you. Would you mind helping other find it by sharing it with your friends?
Love how the whole family works together and is willing to to do the hard dirty work. You all are amazing!
Thanks so much.

She is a real keeper. Thanks for noticing. Your comment is very nice.
32 vs 35 bags of concrete. Hard work. Working outside without a hat? Makes for a long day. Great teamwork. Nice job. Thanks for sharing.
Nice to see stem walls built and sef having a break from working hard and big sister chipping in
It sure is

Idaho Potato has good advice or seek medical support they can help with depression

Find strength from within, you can do this. Know there are others willing to hold you up and walk beside you. Hang in there
With temps climbing, we all need to remember to take breaks from the heat and direct sun, heavy lifting, and be sure to drink plenty of water. This is hard work and you all are making such great progress. Good for you!
Just a quick safety tip: Wear a dust mask while grinding the cement!!!
YES! The silica will settle in your lungs and your body can not get rid of it. No matter how much you cough.
Martin!! You didn't use a concrete bonding agent. Not always needed, but always a very good idea. Kudos to Sara running the tractor and pitching in with the hard work! Ya'all need to let Sara do more narration! Great job! If the inspector fusses about the buried pipe, show him the video!
Ridiculous to have to have an inspector in rural Idaho to begin with. We do not consent to be governed in this manner!
I enjoy everything about your adventure. Marty and Julie are the best.
Semangat terus pak Marti dan ibu 🙏

Senang bisa melihat kak sarah disini ❤ i love you
If you want to take out air bubbles and pockets out off concrete, just use a reciprocating saw without a blade on the side of the formwork....
Great idea matey !!
really cool for a home only with family members
Concrete will dry very quick because of the hot🔥sun heat 💯 that hot everything looks great. Hi Sarah,&Seth 🙋♀️🙋♂️
Sometimes, drying too quickly can cause problems.
Wow it is so amazing to watch your family accomplish so much. You should have your own contracting company. Very nice!
Never a bad idea for a drink break. HD has those cooling towels. Get some big floppy hats. Keep a bucket of water for the dogs in the shade and drape a wet towel over your head.
All great ideas.
anytime you have bards sticking up you should put cans or something just in case you fall on them, be safe, God bless.....
Hi Guys J bolts & moon dust * a face mast & 32 bags builds a wall with a 10ft deck thats wrap - good bridge
Order ahead of time and get curb side pick up and they will load it for you 😁
Fantastic guys, the place is really coming along really well, love it !!!
I love watching you guys. You’re always so great at explaining what’s going on, and editing is spot on so we follow all the action.🥰
I know you guys get a lot of comments but if you use your speed square as a straight edge for your circular saw you’ll find cutting boards much easier. Love your channel and your Idaho life. We are in Syracuse, utah.
Great idea.
Use respirators in dusty conditions. You don't want lungs like mine.
I came here to say the same thing. Safety first 😁
I'am worried for your lungs Seth was coughing badly last episode .
You all did a great job even. Knowing it was so hot think was 34 -35 bags.
True. We should. Thanks for the reminder. Other than that how we doing on the build? Thoughts from a pro?
You doing great
You both work hard good luck with all your projects
Oh, Julie, you crack me up! "See? I'm not always dirty!" 🤣🤣🤣
Great job, y'all! I know that was not an easy task, but you did it! Whoop!
Usually one supervisor supervise a lot of crew or worker and now your work is being supervised by plenty of people on YT.
Real hard working family
Stay Healthy and good day
Usea decent set of bolt-cutters for cutting rebar. Don't have to worry about sparks, doesn't use electricity. all-round much better.
I think I’m like a salty pretzel! 😂 🐶
😅🤣
I enjoy all your building videos, you both have the best attitude about hard work. Thanks for the videos, God Bless.
wow julie looking so so cool and gung-ho with the sun glasses on
She is!
Great job. Like your show. Be safe.

I'd wear a hat or a scarf with your long hair. This grinder is going to scalp you, I've seen it on a construction site.. 😎🇺🇸
I agree. "Long hair is the glory of a woman." so protect your glory!
I totally agree that was an accident waiting to happen with Jules using that grinder while bending down could wrap her hair around the grinder with drastic results?
Trabajando en familia. Muy bien.
Good work on the walls. Y'all stay hydrated. Dizziness is a sign of heat exhaustion.
We will try.
Thinking should of put balcony footer in while digging gas line then know for sure not to hit digging later
for some reason, Jules reminds me of Pepper Potts from Iron Man 🏋️♀️💖
I can see that sometimes.
I’m jealous of the heat wave there. It’s winter where I am and I don’t handle the cold well at all…. I’m a give me hot kind of guy😎😎😎😎🔥🔥🔥🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
A little trip to Athol. Looks like fun.
Good job guys 👍 watching you makes me remember how much I don't miss construction 🤣
I’m sure I’ll feel the same once we are done. 🤣
You three hung in there, great job
Thanks!
Jejeje. again! You forgot the bar protectors. It is for your safety.
With the massive expense of the 2x12s why not spray a release agent against the part of the board that hits the concrete or even some sort of plastic or house rap to keep the concrete off the boards..
That is a pretty dry water park 😂
Deja vu, all over again 😂
Hahaha true 😂 I took clips of the rollercoaster side of the park
Take the blade out of your recip saw and use it to settle the concrete
A cool trick for getting air out of concrete. Take your hammer drill or any tool that vibrates and hold it to the side of the boards. Vibrate the wood.
I think longer boards and two for each side would have worked. The sides were caving in because of a lack of support.
Just gotta say...you guys are amazing!
Are you guys ever going back to Indonesia? I really enjoy y’all videos in Jogjakarta
Chuckie sister 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 it took my Brain a couple seconds to click in but Once it did I started laughing out loud and my wife just gave me the weird looks. I wasn’t expecting that…. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You should wear a mask when mixing concrete
Jules, you have eye, ear and hand protection grinding the cement but I'm pretty sure Safety Sally would prefer you to wear a dust mask to protect you from the concrete dust.
Hi next time you grind spray water it will cut the dust
Julie, don't worry, no matter how many times you cut a board it doesn't get longer. LOL
Unless you cut it diagonally! Trust me, I’m an engineer 😂
I just love and enjoying watching your Chanel ,never miss one ,SUBSCRIBED 👍❤️
Heads up, old engine oil sprayed over the timber as a release agent stops any concrete adhering to the timber.

nice job in the hot sun
That doll creeps me out 🧟♀️ LOL
What do you mean? She is so cute 🤣
Very impressive
the doll make mee shocked in a second booyaa!!

really enjoy your video guys----- from Montreal, Canada
Just curious, any reason that you did not use concrete blocks for those two wall sections. Seems like it would have been faster and less complex.
No good reason.
Lowes has Loaders whose job is to load customers vehicles. I've never understood why Home Depot doesn't have them.
Same reason they don't have cashiers, customers are willing to work for free.
Also smacking the form with a hammer on the way pouring will release air also
Kershaw Oso Sweet around 25 bucks on Amazon it is a great assisted opening flipper
I'll have to look into it.
Good job guys!
You could have wheelbarrow the cement mix instead of filling the ground.

32 the first time great work
I hear tell that two 500 tanks are better than one 1000
Great video though, thanks for sharing
Ya'll had me screaming at my screen, "put a mask on!!" Please .. its very hard to do anything with bad lungs, I know I have COPD please
Desde la sierra de madrid españa menudo cambio a dado todo l
Great job only suggestion is when using that thing that makes all that dust ware a mask so your not inhaling it
You said 34 bags prior the last two bags you had in the stash lol
Condong catur hadir pak martin
GREAT JOB YOU GUYS GOD BLESS
Your concrete is manufactured in our town of Canaan Ct
wow cool.
I BOUGHT FAMILY PASSES FOR SILVERWOOD FOR MY DAUGHTER HEIDI AND HER FAMILY THEY LOVE SILVERWOOD AND THE WATERPARK
That is awesome!
Hope you added the other piece of pvc pipe you were going to place in the last wall you did. Lol 😛
