    Its so nice to watch people who are good at handyman work. Although i have the will, and ability, to put the work in, I would have no idea how to rebuild a gate. I wish i had someone around who was knowledgeable about things like this.

    I noticed that the escape artist was keeping a keen eye on what you were doing with the gates lol. It's scary seeing just how fast it can flood and you can get cut off with a landslide. Luckily it wasn't too serious but it makes you realise how little you can control. The barn is going to be a thing of beauty back in its place.👍

    Consider getting a light bar for on top of the cab or upfront. That will provide more than enough light for any task. And you can always use the old front lights on the back of the tractor.

    What a transformation with the gates, much stronger than before. I also noticed just how quickly the birds emptied the feeder you filled, they didn't play around. 👍

    Hello Erik: You are doing a great job in getting the farm ready for things that might happen. You and your wife are very happy together and your son is growing like a weed. Do what you can and fix what you can, things will fall in place for you and your family. Good luck in getting the barn permit and all the papers that you will be needing. Until next time keep safe and god bless.

    ya weather same here in Canada , but you do not need to shovel rain (well you did kinda,🥴 ), so ill take the rain , it was very dry fall so it will do the wells good to get all the extra rain before it freezes up , yet that increases the risk of frost heaving when it does freeze solid this winter, gate looks great, 🥸🤓,Canada

    woodchips are great but chickens will eat some of it, if the chips are from pine/cedar the eggs will likely smell and taste like it, oak and other hardwood seem to work well, but on the other hand mine were common hatchery birds, your birds look like heritage breeds and may be smart enough to know they're not supposed to eat the litter🤪👍

    Whhhaaaaa - that weather looks terrible. I live in Poland and the weather can be bad but not really as wet as you get there. Those sheep and pigs must be damn tough to get through your winters - seems they live outside - interested in their breeds. Surprised you need building permission for a barn that is already in place and is on agricultural land. And very nice work on the gate, considering you had to do it single-handed.

    Man, has there always been this river through your fields? Even long before you purchased the lot? Have you actually considered just digging a few meter wide river through there or would it just make it worse?
    Great work with the gate, and your doing great with your farm work! Enjoy farm life with your family

    • @Norwegianfarmlife
      @Norwegianfarmlife  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have used my digger attachment for the tractor on all the sides I can reach and it is a lot better now than before but the river is flowing trough a ravine with rock walls on each side. I cannot reach there. Afther this ravine the landscape slops so if I only could take that place also it would help but I need to do it by hand and I need to stand in the river so I can only do it in the summer. Of course, when the summer comes, I have other things to do. Winter and flooding is farm from my mind. 😂

    The new front lights on the tractor need to be moved higher up, i.e. on the cabin roof above the front windscreen. When you tested them, all you could see in front of the tractor are the shadows from the front wheels.

    few thoughts:
    you will want to get endcaps for your drain tile (USian name for porous drain pipe, not sure your local name) to keep it from filling up with dirt.
    with that super rocky ground, a Mattock (digging pickaxe) would go faster than the shovel and digging bar.
    might want to get a square hoe, i noticed that you were fighting with the crescent moon hoe when backfilling the trench
    high traffic areas like the gate might benefit from using some of that fieldstone for paving

  • @johnmcclelland5265

    You can’t have too many lights on a tractor. You should mount 1 on each corner of the cab 2 forward and 2 backwards. Remembering the height of the tractor shed. I would have put the gate latch on the outside animals do try and succeed in opening them.

    I saw that small wooden gate with a passage way, for a person to go thru, and I wondered if you will realize that you need to think about when the barn is built, you will need a way to get to the barn with a tractor ect. That passage way would be way to narrow.

    • @Norwegianfarmlife
      @Norwegianfarmlife  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are correct but I have another wider gate out on the fields where I can drive the tractor. This gate only leads up to the house and the garden and I cannot drive the tractor there. 😊

      I understand the frustration but I also find that music makes a lot of things better. Unfortunately sometimes one has to accomodate the greater group of people. Some people might have tried to drive through the flooded area. Lets just say that I would not like to own that car afterwards. Anything over the center of the wheel is going to damage important bits. Even just water up to the underside of the car is bad as it gets into areas not designed to be soaked.
    Better safe(with wet feet) than sorry with a soaked car. ;-)
    Please stop using indoor rated power cords outside. Really.
    Those wire brushes are ridicilously effective. Used one with my cordless angle-grinder(Biltema MultiX 18V) to strip the old paint off a wrought iron bannister this summer.
    The 4Ah battery only lasted a few minutes, but with two batteries and a charger, and things to do in-between, I got it done. (I have 3 batteries and 2 chargers now... )
    I don't like using open flames on heat-shrink. Not because I damage it, but I tend to char stuff around it...
    So I got myself a battery-powered heat-gun. Works a treat.
    Tractor wiring is always a mess. It looks good at the dealer, but the moment you drive it off thee lot... there must be some elastic tension or something that gets released and pulls, snaps and whips about until it can no longer be recognised. Even worse than anything made by LUKAS...
