Hi Chris, thanks for the latest video! The light at 13:05 was not handled correctly. The car was NOT in the intersection before the light turned red. It could have scooted forward when it was green and if it had the move would have been perfectly legal, but you cant stay behind the stop line and then when you get a red, decide to push through it.
To the best of my knowledge the traffic law says NOT to enter the junction before you have a clear exit. The law needs to be changed to enter the junction and get in position to exit at the first opportunity or when the light changes. This is how all experienced drivers handle intersections and the law needs to be adjusted, NHTSA this is on you.
@@jjamespacbell Few states like Oregon and Washington specifically prohibit drivers from entering an intersection when making an unprotected left turn. In most states, like California, Michigan drivers are allowed to pull forward into the intersection when the light turns green while yielding/waiting to make a left turn. IMHO, FSD made an error by not positioning the car into the intersection when the light was green at 12:24. It stayed behind the stop limit line while the light was green. 13:07 FSD made another error when it entered the intersection when the light turned yellow/red (tried to run the red light)

Is v13 at night slamming on its breaks on two lane streets when another car is heading toward you (almost like the old phantom breaking)? I have m3 h4 2024 version 12.5.6.4 and it has been horrible really really horrible with night time driving. Even coming up to a stop light FSD acts like it doesn’t see the cars in front of me that are slowing down or even the one that are already stopped at the light. I either have to hit the breaks or FSD slams on its breaks.
Even once it's seemingly solved, a channel like this could still film a destination on the other side of the state, and see how well the car gets from a driveway to a parking lot on a multi-hour drive.
@@DirtyTesla At the train intersection it looks like the half transparent tail is growing before it goes, at what point did you press the accelerator there? Looks like it was getting ready to go before you pressed it but it's difficult to tell
I'm more intrigued by how it handled the construction at 14:03. First it pushes past the flagger holding a "slow" sign (although it looks like the system saw it as a stop sign?). Which is correct, but I'm trying to understand its logic. Or can it identify the difference between 'slow' and 'stop'? Also, at 14:08, it clearly thinks it sees another stop sign (which isn't there), but still doesn't stop? And then at 14:16 it appears to see another flagger holding a stop sign, but eases on by him. I think I'm just curious how it handles various "stop" situations like flaggers or automated construction flagging equipment.
This had me curious where the most dangerous roundabout in the US is. Apparently it’s 10 minutes from my house and FSD has been handling it consistently very well on 12.5.6.x intervention free!
Can it handle speedbumps yet? I can't use it in my residence area due to 18 speedbumps. In previous version, car will ignore they exist, and drive over them without slowing down first.
It will be interesting (if we ever get FSD) to see how it handles small roundabouts, double mini-roundabouts, very short sight-lines, 5 or 6 exits in Britain. Handling the big roundabouts with good sight-lines, as in this video and others, is a piece of cake in comparison.
As someone whose parents live in a neighborhood full of tiny roundabouts, I can tell you, it doesn't ;p There's video of it on my short-lived FSD channel - FSD Beta Boy. It's old but the performance on those roundabouts is unchanged, even today.
Yep - there's a LOT of work ahead of them, if they want to make this work in Europe. The US is generally grid-like. UK roads are often crazy, as are some motorway junctions - especially in the midlands where they love their cars.
Also, just noticed at 20:35 it merged into the wrong lane, which could have caused an accident. Correct me if I am wrong, but it appears it should have merged into the left lane, not the right.
Just FYI, I don't know if in the states the roundabouts rules are different but you shouldn't really exit them from the interior lane. You should be in the most exterior one before taking the exit or you could cut someone's lane. They must implement this eventually if FSD is coming to Europe
@DirtyTesla How well does the speed adjustment currently work? So I mean acceleration when the sign says higher speed or reduction when the speed limit goes down. Is this already perfect with FSD Beta 13.2 or not?
Would you say that there is a difference between HW3 with USS and a vision HW3? Just wondering since I have a HW3 vision only with a Ryzen CPU and am wondering if those things make a difference.
Great video Chris. One thing I'm curious about is Michigan left handling in V13. One frustration I have with pretty much all V12 versions is it tends to take the middle of the Michigan left turnaround when there is room for 2 cars width wise. It will then tend to take the right lane when turning left while it could take the inner lane to allow more throughput. Generally this is how people do it, but I always feel so awkward if I let FSD handle the Michigan left when people would typically do the Michigan left 2x2 and use both lanes after the turn. Have you noticed a change with V13?

And then I try to back off a bit and then the light turn green, I got panic trying to go forth so I step on pedal just to realize I was still backing, almost back into the guy behind me 😂😂😂

I’m in the move into the intersection while waiting to turn left camp. Otherwise traffic gets stuck turning left at busy time. You also tick traffic behind you. Where I drive you’re allowed to clear the intersection when the light turns and you are across the line.
I would like to see FSD 13.2 take a drive to Nanatasket beach on rt 3A. Its a two lane road with several lights and 2 rotaries. ATM fsd struggles, even with minimal lane changes selected, to keep in one lane, even if thats what I want it to do. The best it did was going home the other day, I only had to tell it no once. I can't wait for the general release of FSD 13.x to the general public. I expect another update, and test before its release to the public and HW3.
I had forgotten about those crude red-dot graphics from back then. Looks like 1980's video game LOL. Wonder what the next 4 years will bring to the display?
Ive noticed similar behavior of it not moving to the right lane to go straight it seems to be when it cant see the arrows on the road. Very inconsistent at that intersection. Timestamp 7:08

In aviation we often assess hand flown maneuvers as safe, effective and optimal. My question is even though some of the driving is less than optimal are you seeing anything unsafe?
If I was behind you on that left hand turn, where the car didn't pull into the intersection, I would be laying on the horn. Tesla should give you the option to change that behavior (instead of manually overtaking).
when the light is turning red and you proceeded to turn, does your state have the law that you aren't allowed to go past the white line until you are able to do the turn?
Worrying about blinking yellow? My 12.5.4.2 is stopping at green lights. Not failing to go on green but stopping as it approaches a green overhead light.
Regarding this "wrong lane to go straight" thing: I would be interested in FSD 13.2s behaviour when - there is already a car waiting in the "turn left" lane and - there is another car to its right that also wants to got straight
Try changing the route while entering the roundabout :D Meaning: Have it turn right, while it is in the left lane and previously had a route to go left. Will it circle 450° like you're supposed to, or mess it up?
I know you're not on X anymore but I did post a clip of that. It did it kind of successfully, but as it went around the roundabout, it rode the middle line and got honked at
Roundabouts in the UK are a thing of beauty, automotive ballet but with no eye contact. Especially the vortex of a busy mini roundabout (basically an intersection with a big dot in the centre). I'm an old guy, and honestly your stop signs would give me heart failure within a week. How do you stand it. I can think of just one I know of, in a sunken country lane crossroads where I grew up. We just don't need them, like so many other countries. Edit: I seem to remember reading that in Paris they gave up replacing the last one as people kept stealing it.
Is this blue car he’s driving a AI3/HW3 vehicle? I just ask because the video title references FSD13 but I didn’t think a FSD v13 release was out in the wild for HW3/AI3 based cars yet?
Hopefully won't be long until we can finally have FSD in Europe and the UK. I tried asking Elon directly about FSD in other locations but didnt get a response. I imagine the fleet has been learning from videos elsewhere too so when it is switched on, it can handle scenarios like it can in the US elsewhere in the world fine but... Is that the case?
(volume a bit low?) I seem to have been getting tweak updates to 12.5.6. I get in my car and I have to re-enable FSD again. One key improvement that I have seen is that when making a left turn at a stop light where there are two left turn lanes, the car is choosing the lane that becomes the through lane after the turn when the extra lane merges, avoiding the extra merge. The sun can blind drivers so I can see that it would 'blind' cameras, too. There is a hill, Floyd Hill, on eastbound I-70 coming out of the mountains down to Denver where for a couple months each fall and spring where they have to detour traffic due to the blinding sun. There is a multi-year construction project underway to fix it. IMO, the car should creep out into the intersection while waiting to turn and finish the turn when traffic stops for the changing light. That's what my driver ed teacher taught us eons ago. (Of course, that was driving horse and buggy! 😀

I rembered the underground clips !
I’m in the move into the intersection while waiting to turn left camp. Otherwise traffic gets stuck turning left at busy time. You also tick traffic behind you. Where I drive you’re allowed to clear the intersection when the light turns and you are across the line.
Just like at time 13:30!
Omfg I remember those videos 🤯🤯 how has it been so long 😭
I have a question. I just picked up my new 2025 Model Y performance yesterday. I can’t figure out how to set my home as a home and work as work. Also how can you request ‘beta’ access to potentially get the testing updates early?
Congrats! Just click the box to enter an address, and below it will say "set home" and "set work" click those
For getting early access... you can email fsdbeta@tesla.com but it's very hard to get into
The map display is satellite on beginning this video, is this available on HW3?
We like the long videos + some shorter videos are nice for the algorithm or whatever but keep it up!
Wonder if the car would move over to the straight lane if someone was in the left turn lane?
10:00
Legally, you are required to stay behind the white line unless you have a clear gap to go.
What about safety critical interventions, are they already gone completely or what's going on?
… thanks! I was wondering if you would do this underground parking maze again, and you did :-) it’s been six years :-)
You know FSD has gotten good when all he has to say over and over is “the 4th most DANGEROUS roundabout in Michigan” 🤣
I cannot belive it's been so many years. Feels like I watched the clips with the red dots and the wiggly tentacle ike a year ago
Worrying about blinking yellow? My 12.5.4.2 is stopping at green lights. Not failing to go on green but stopping as it approaches a green overhead light.
There wasn't any visualization for that truck ramp at 8:05. I hope the car saw it.
Yes I remember this place. :D) (previously impossible garage exit)
Regarding this "wrong lane to go straight" thing: I would be interested in FSD 13.2s behaviour when
- there is already a car waiting in the "turn left" lane and
- there is another car to its right that also wants to got straight
Nice Chris,do you still interested in working with Hansshow?
Try changing the route while entering the roundabout :D
Meaning: Have it turn right, while it is in the left lane and previously had a route to go left. Will it circle 450° like you're supposed to, or mess it up?
I know you're not on X anymore but I did post a clip of that. It did it kind of successfully, but as it went around the roundabout, it rode the middle line and got honked at
@@DirtyTesla well, they blocked my account, without any reason. I tried to unblock it twice. No luck. 🤷♂
I just recently got 6.4 - will 13.2 be next after that update?
XAI501x is definitely on my radar now! Appreciate the insights from your video!
Sent it to the UK. We have roundabouts that will crash Colossus!
Just watching the traffic in that round-about stresses me out.
Speaking of underground, have you ever tried FSD on the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel?
No... I don't have my enhanced license but I'll get it soon and can maybe give it a shot
I think it stopped at the train tracks because there was a white sign saying something including „Stop“, not because of the lights
Stop signs are EVERYWHERE in the US. Non-stop.
I reckon a few families working in government own a private stop sign company, and are very, very rich.
Is this blue car he’s driving a AI3/HW3 vehicle?
I just ask because the video title references FSD13 but I didn’t think a FSD v13 release was out in the wild for HW3/AI3 based cars yet?
"FSD does it perfectly" as it drives past a One Way sign pointing left, and goes straight... lol.
Timestamp? lol
That left turn intervention was an easy one how did dad mess that up?
We need insurance reform soon, and a close look at how FSD can lower costs across the board.
Go Blue!!!
19:08 Aren't you 'supposed to' give way to everyone already in the roundabout on your left....
I miss Ann Arbor. So many new buildings are going up!
