I've never had the opportunity to operate Liebherr equipment during my operating career. This dragline sounds like German engineering at it's finest. Smooth operator, full buckets and I bet goes home a happy man.
They say if you find a job you love, you never work a day in your life. That my friends is a true statement.
    Thanks for sharing .

To a novice the mechanical workings of the drag-line machine and the operation of it all is really a "poetry-in-motion" event...! Thanks for a VERY nice Vid...! Gordon

David :-)

I never understood how this patent works.
Is it based on gravity(carry position) or does it have some sort of brake on that small pully?

I geuss it is a free-fall winch , gravity pulls the cable off the winch and you can stop unwinding with a brake

Man...thats a big bucket. Beautiful machine too. But any reason why go for gravel from a pond instead of dry land? And is that a man-made pond strictly for gravel producing?

Hello, thank you from your comment. What do you think where lakes and ponds for gravel extraction come from? :-)
This was a new pit and the excavator ist extracting the gravel for the first few days in this place. The water you see is the groundwater, wich comes automatically up if you remove the gravel. Today, some year later, this is a really huge lake, around 250 x 150meters and up to 15 Meters deep and there is not much gravel left in it.
Here in Bavaria, gravel ist one of the top construction materials... In other parts of germany, crushed rocks would be a opinion... but in bavaria, the gravel is everywhere... we got a lot of it and you just have to extract it.
      Best regards,
      David

      Hallo,
      :-)

i respect all Liebherr technology , but, at work, there isn't so much difference from an old mechanical dragline and them, when you have a good operator. The really difference is the high cost as new machine, very big investment, high service cost and too high fuel consume for the different engine power. But , an old mechanical machine overcrossing 30000 working hour, an hyd machines , has a really loose of performance after 12000, / 15000 working hours. For the hyd loosing of hyd components..With high service costsAfter more of 40 years of field service only on big eath moving machines, i am arrived to this conclusion, very bad conclusions, Is possible that , i have an old mentality, but i continuos prefer my RB that these machines, expecially in countries where is difficult find skiiled mechanics, And in Germany there is this problems also, my personal experience of many years of service problems. The Deutch customer have more money that others new economy countries customers, so pay too much Euro fo serivice cost. In new economy countries, this isn't possible. Better work with an old, economic mechanical machine , most riability !
