Favourable conditions have allowed the teams to push ahead strongly. The opening of the temporary bridge to traffic will be a few days later than anticipated, but certainly very soon. Follow this channel for the best news and views of the work.

Aerosnapper! THANK YOU so much for documenting this lengthy process. The loss of the bridge has created a bit of chaos in the city, and your updates shows us the light at the end of the tunnel! I gotta ask... where will your talents bring you after this bridge drama is done? You are so amazing at what you do.
@Iceman8723
I agree with you 1000%
First and foremost - thank you for your very generous comment. Once the temporary bridge is in place, I will be able to get back to coverage of the other major project nearby, the construction of a new Kingston dock for the Wolfe Island Ferry. That's a much greater engineering challenge that I have badly neglected.
Mike
Amazing workmanship
Another great video
Thanks
Thanks Stuart - greatly appreciated
I loved the ending! haha
Thanks Ben - it was such a stark contrast that I couldn't resist
Always nice to see hardworking, skilled men doing a great job
Dan - it's always great to know that people appreciate just how much craft and experience lie behind construction successes. Thanks for that great comment. Getting recognition for the construction crafts is one of my key motivators
Mike, you put an immense amount of work into recording and editing all these videos. It's amazing!
Thank you sincerely for that comment, but it would have been an absolute travesty not to have had this significant change in our city's infrastructure properly documented.
Getting closer by the day! (Loved the contrast in boating styles!)
LOL - yes, sometimes, Gary, things just fall into place...
Nice to see it'll be ready for me when I get back home. Thanks Mike!
Pamela - you're welcome - the bridge will serve you well when you get back - and then there's the excitement to come of something new at some stage
Looking good. It will be nice to have the bridge reopened.
It will indeed, Heather - hoping for a nice, settled sunny day for the first traffic
Grest video. It's good to see the decking done and concrete poured.
Thank you, it is indeed. Given the enormity of the task, it's quite remarkable that so much was achieved in such a short time. Mind you, we have been blessed with near ideal weather for construction.
Another winning title, and an interesting chapter.
Thank you, Peter - getting the titles and music are amongst the most difficult things to settle on - happy it worked
Only recently discovered your channel but, I am enjoying your documentation of the building of this bridge for posterity! Thanks for the update and your positive approach in your videos!
Cindy - thank you. It's much easier to carp and criticise, but it doesn't move anything forward an inch. The team assembled under Priestly's direction to complete this work has been amazing. No reason to find fault.
Thanks for the update!
You're very welcome - I appreciate your viewing and commenting greatly
Great video Mike (in a long line of great videos)- thank you
Andrew - I'm just trying to keep a long line of great supporters in the loop. Every view and every comment is appreciated
Drone is back :) happy time
I guess it found its way home after a short absence - thanks for following the update
Camera on new drone is a lot clearer👍
Maybe - or did you remember to put your spectacles on, Allan....😇
Amazing progress!!
We're getting there, Don. I use 'We' in the royal sense....
👍
Hi
What's the plan? Is Monday the big day? Is the Pilot House providing the refreshments?
It has been great coverage, Thank you
LOL - the date that road traffic will be able to cross has been postponed until late afternoon on October 3rd (an odd choice, but there you go). NO caterer has been identified for the occasion and I don't think a brass band will play either 🤣
This has been an enjoyable series! Thank you for the wonderful filming AND explanations. Now I can "dream" about one more rip to Kingston, (perhaps for a Reunion of Artsci '78) and driving to Wolfe Island!
Thank you - it's always great to know that the updates are helpful. Kingston is thriving and would love to see you return to check things out. Much changes, but almost all the good things stay the same
You say it is temporary? What will replace it? Does this one move to allow boat traffic through? Thanks
Jim - a temporary replacement to meet demands for road traffic to pass. Smaller vessels (clearance below 5.5m / 18') can still pass under the east bridge. It has been announced that larger vessels will be able to transit on October 15 and November 16, between 12pm and 9pm only. There has been no announcement of a permanent replacement yet.
Thanks for the update Mike. It leaves me wondering what they are going to do to allow the larger boats get in to the Rideau Canal.
Ian - there will be two short-term openings on October 15 and November 16 between 12pm and 9pm. An announcement on plans for access next year will be made in late December, it has been stated.
Hmm,, noticing no way for water to drain, should be interesting in rain and freezing rain, and I can afford the last "boat" but not the first!
There are sufficient 'gaps' between panels to allow drainage. I'm on the same budget as you - sadly
Is this bridge permanent ?
How are boats going to access past it ?
Perry - it's not permanent, but it can only be moved infrequently with some effort. Dates when this will happen have been announced already as October 15th and November 16th - between 12pm and 9pm on each date. Vessels that are below 5.5m / 18' in height can travel below the east bridge on the Causeway
How not to do so . . . 😆😆😆
Couldn't resist - that floating 'houseboat' has been moving up and down the river for some time now...
@@Aerosnapper Let's hope it keeps floating.
I think the only thing missing is an "inquisitive seagull or cat" to walk across the wet concrete. I'm just having fun!! They had great weather to do it. Thanks for the Update!
Yes, that would be amusing - but unwelcome. You did see the Osprey 'poop' on the bridge in an earlier update, I hope...
@@Aerosnapper, an act of an bird of prey pooping on the bridge could be an act of "Baptism", LOL
@@marilynturcotte5304 LOL
Must be a non union company. Just see a lot of issues with their safety . I’m a fellow blue collar worker myself and safety is the most important thing and sadly used the least. Hope these boys make it all home
P.s I love your narrating voice. Good job editing too! Very nice updates on that causeway in that city
I'm not in a position to comment - but I'm sure safety is a priority.
@@anonymousstoner304 thanks - I appreciate your comment greatly - someone needed to document this event. It's pretty significant for our community
