In the video, he weighs their hearts on a scale with a feather, but even the ones who passed the test ended up dead. Really powerful subtext if you understand what's going on.

When my Dad first heard this song he looked at me wide eyed and said: "Is Chris going to fucking explode?" And it's still the best reaction I've ever heard to this song.
I love how MIW’s music has stood the test of time. I started listening to them as a sophomore in high school and all these years later (gonna be 27) I still enjoy listening to them especially when I’m working out at the gym pumpin iron 😂
In my perception this video is a metaphor for people "pouring their hearts out" at religion and that same religion judging them by false means and destroying them internally. And only when it's late do some people of religion realize how harmful they've been to others around them and to themselves too. Thank you MIW for giving me thoughts and not meaningless prayers 🤟
Religion has always been a powerful tool for people in charge exactly because it targets people's heart and not mind. Has turned out pretty dangerous at times of history🤷♀️
To me the video seems less about religions themselves and more about religious leaders/representatives. You can probably narrow it down to only Christian representatives as well since I don't think the band members would have any experience from other religious communities, but that's just a guess.

@@jaredvoorhees8617 Slipknot isn't any less heavy than the other big mainstream metal bands floating around. They were heavier than MIW in their beginning and came down to normal heavy over the years. You can't honestly tell me MIW has an album as heavy as Iowa.

Osiris is who does that actually, in the Field of Reeds. I LOVED they included that. So pivotal in Ancient Egypt when Osiris places your heart vs the feather.

If you already know this then ignore me, I don't wanna be one of /those/ guys on the internet, but I don't think "sacrifice" was the intention here. It's a reference to ancient Egyptian afterlife mythology -- Anubis weighs the hearts of the dead against a feather. If lighter than the feather, they go on to the afterlife. If heavier, they get eaten by a crocodile (I think? Or crocodile god). So he's judging the hearts of the dead.
