Swamp Thing (2019)
I remember hearing about that Secret Talents of the Stars. I think I had watched enough American Idol by that point, so I didn't need to see another show like that. To think that host John O'Hurley passed on Celebrity Family Feud to do it. Instead of him, it was Al Roker A lot of you who remember it know that Rob Ford more or less provided comedians with all sorts of material while he was mayor of Toronto. Though Rob has since passed on, Doug Ford has been premier of Ontario (the Canadian equivalent of a state governor) since 2018. Have seen all 6 episodes of hitler its hilarious!
I just KNEW that "Heil Honey, I'm Home" would nab the top spot. Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun are a goofy sitcom couple, living next door to a Jewish couple, with "shenanigans" supposedly ensuing. It's a wonder how the pilot was ever greenlit in the first place.
I'm still baffled by that concept. That show is the equivalent of making a sitcom about Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings. I would love a list similar to this but with shows that got canceled before being aired on TV.
I thought turn on was gonna be number one given that episode never fully aired. But i have heard Heil honey im home was another wacky sitcom. But its sad many shows never went on much just cuz it was offensive in some way or another.
Whoever thought of this idea is seriously disturbed along side the network and producers
Could've been worse. Could've had Hitler host a game show type program. The Price is Reich.
@@kylebeschler03 gotta protect sensitive people who can't just turn the channel instead of throwing a hissy fit
You forgot Australia's Naughtiest Home Videos which was cancelled midway through the episode. Channel 9's owner Kerry Packer called up the network and supposedly yelled "GET THAT SHIT OFF THE AIR!!!". Years later, the entire episode was run after Packer's death.
One of the big moments of Australian TV back in '92.
@@EddieGaster The whole episode was uploaded over at Internet Archive.
Midway? That's hilarious. I wonder what excuse they gave the viewers.
@@owie4070 Kerry Packer, the owner of the Nine Network at the time, was informed of the show's content by friends while having dinner. He tuned in to watch the show, which was being transmitted on TCN-9, and was so offended by its content that he phoned the studio operators and angrily shouted, "Get that shit off the air!". Within minutes, the program was pulled.[3] Viewers saw a Nine Network ident interrupt the program with a speech by Nine continuity announcer John Martin of a "a technical problem" before beginning a rerun of the American sitcom Cheers, which filled the remaining airtime.[4]
The Nine Network bumper occurred at different points in the program in different areas due to time differences: In the eastern states except Victoria, the bumper occurred at the beginning of a scheduled commercial break. In Victoria, the show abruptly switched to Cheers during a commercial break almost 46 minutes into its runtime but without the "technical problem" announcement.[5] In South Australia and the Northern Territory, which are half an hour behind the east coast, it occurred immediately after Mulray's monologue about "bosoms" or after the aforementioned clip of a child grabbing a kangaroo's scrotum. The show was cancelled before it was scheduled to air in Western Australia, which is two hours behind the east coast, so its Nine Network affiliate displayed a graphic of the Nine Network logo on-screen with a brief message mentioning that the special was cancelled before beginning an episode of Cheers. When the show was cancelled, the message went as follows:
We apologise for this interruption.
Unfortunately, a technical problem prevents us continuing our scheduled program for the moment. In the meantime, we bring you a brief, alternative program.
- John Martin, Nine Network continuity announcer.
Let's be honest we all knew what number one was.
Indeed. Same list different title
& the dialogue Rebecca describing it is also the same from previous videos
WatchMojo and Co. gonna beat that horse into glue!
I didn't even know that show existed. Lol
And a favourite mention on watchmojoUK 😂
I don’t know what’s worse, getting canceled after one episode or the network letting you suffer in ratings for weeks like they did to Magic Johnson and Chevy Chase with their talk shows. It’s the difference between dying a quick embarrassing death or a slow painful death.
Great point 👏👏

Ninja Turtles started as a comic. Then, it became a cartoon. Then, it became a video game.
I came to the comments to say the same thing
@@PrinceVanF Me too!
How "Heil Honey, I'm Home" even aired it's one episode confuses me!
There were a lot of people who liked it
I haven't finished watching this video yet, but a few shows that come to my mind that were quickly cancelled are the Chevy Chase talk show, the Pat Sajack talk show, and the show based on the Cavemen in the Geico commercial which didn't even include the actual actors from the Geico commercials!
I can remember the previews for Cavemen. Bad idea long before it was even supposed to air.
I tried to give Cavemen a chance. It's main flaw was trying to stretch out a one-note joke across 21 additional minutes. Weirdly enough, it hit several actual poignant notes about race/cultural discrimination on the head. But it just wasn't funny, which is a real problem for a comedy.
In Australia, a comedian called Doug Mulray was given a live show. He was so crude that Kerry Packer (who owned the network) phoned the station and had the plug pulled half way through.
Even cruder than Kerry himself
Was that Australia's Naughtiest Home Videos or was this something entirely different?
@@foccha It was a variety show.
@@focchait was. It got replaced with Cheers halfway through the episode
These shows destroyed a lot of careers before they even got started. It’s kind of sad when you stop to think about it.
In New York City, there is the Paley Center for Media, which is a museum dedicated to all things movies and TV. Well, if you go to the media center, you can actually watch "Turn On," and it's just as surreal as you'd imagine.
I remember “Turn On” distinctly. I read the write-ups in TV Guide and its association with “Laugh-In” told me it was going to be great! I turned it on. My family said it stunk, but I kept saying “it’ll get better!” It didn’t, and even I decided to watch something else before the show was over.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua (2012) If Y'all Didn't know Disney Junior had a pilot based on the George Lopez led Beverly Hills Chihuahua Franchise (2008-2011) which was released by Disney and good news the Pilot's been uploaded on TH-cam with the Intro and I believe It got scrapped because Disney didn't want another Taco Bell Chihuahua controversy after she originally passed away I just forgot when

Wait, number 1 ACTUALLY existed???
I KNOW RIGHT!!!! Who the eff thought that’d be a fun idea??!?! I was stunned when I first heard about it in a different Mojo video. I think it was worst sitcom premises or something.
Further proof we live on a strange planet 😄
The irony of it all is that no matter how many new shows we anticipate, not all of them will be greenlit. In some cases, they just pull the plug after one episode. It’s such a pain, but that’s just how it is.
I heard there is a channel full of pilots which were never picked up.
The Chuck Woolery game show he did after Lingo, was the 2008 GSN game show Think Like A Cat, which was canceled after one episode, it never caught on, but Chuck had a great run hosted game shows from Wheel Of Fortune in the '70s to Lingo in the 2000's.
I loved Lingo!! I vaguely remember promos for his upcoming show and all of the sudden it just never happened -- it must've been this "Think Like a Cat"!
I still say the creator of Heil Honey I'm Home should release a documentary explaining the concept he was going for, and drop the additional 7 unaired episodes as DVD extras
The shows all fall under three classifications. The fewest were "ahead of their time", the next largest are "wrong material with the wrong people", but the majority were "in poor taste".. in beyond the pale ways.
A lot of you who remember it know that Rob Ford more or less provided comedians with all sorts of material while he was mayor of Toronto. Though Rob has since passed on, Doug Ford has been premier of Ontario (Canadian equivalent of a state governor) since 2018. Though he's generated controversy like his late brother did, what he's done isn't exactly tabloid-worthy.
Dana Carvy's show was canceled after 1 show
I remember that abomination. Portraying President Clinton “breast feeding” phony kittens was nightmare fuel. I still wonder what kind of drugs Carvey did before deciding to do that.
6 episodes actually. “The diet mug root beer Dana Carvey show” aired after a “serious” Home improvement episode in April 1996 lol 😄
@@Movypro23 The documentary on this show is worth watching if only for the moment they react to the commercial promos for that week. I thought Colbert was going to die.
Didn’t you guys already uploaded that list last year on WatchMojo?
Hogan's Heroes achieved success because Klink always lost and he wasn't really a Nazi anyway.

Happy friday afternoon, Rebecca, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well
The easiest mistake was trying to even make spin-offs of MASH. Nothing will replace the original show and nothing should've come after it
What’s really embarrassing about Osbournes Reloaded is it got MASSIVELY promoted. I remember commercials for it on Fox nearly every break. Then it just sort of……immediately disappeared. 😂
You’ve missed Australia’s Naughtiest Home Videos. It was a spin-off of Australia's Funniest Home Video Show, taken off the air partway through the broadcast of its first episode on the order of Channel 9 owner Kerry Packer.
I looked up ‘Hello, Larry’ and was surprised to learn it ran for two seasons with a total of 38 episodes. My parents would let me stay up to watch ‘Diff’rent Strokes’, which was the lead-in show. I thought it was boring and would just go to bed early instead.
Not surprising it only got one episode with Rosie O'Donnell in it.
Who Wants To Marry A Multimillionaire?
What about who your daddy
RIP Glen Frey
Died the same day as my brother.
The amount of airtime Mojo has given "Heil Honey, I'm Home" is surely equivalent to a full broadcast series 🙄
Stone Cold was awesome, but loaded with nudity swearing and violence. It couldnt work on broadcast TV.
Bosworth is still starring in commercials to this day. 7 figure contract with Dr Pepper
"Where's Rodney?" should be on this list.
There was also the remake of "The Munsters" in 2012 retitled "Mockingbird Lane" with Jerry O'Connell, Portia de Rossi and Eddie Izzard. It aired once, although I believe the network had already passed on it and aired it as a Halloween special.
You guys should talk about top 10 TV shows that were canceled after one season that’s what happened with Sam and Cat I love to see that
It was a terrible show!
@@travis7310 I liked it pretty much but I totally understand what you mean it wasn’t really that good but there are a few episodes of the show that I really liked even though it got canceled because Jennette McCurdy‘s mom died and she made a book about it. it was pretty amazing and Ariana Grande wanted to do music , I watch that show from time to time I totally get what you mean though
@@brodiger I can’t stand Ariana Grande. She’s annoying.
@@travis7310 I know I understand what you mean I can’t stand either. She is annoying and I don’t like her music that much. I only liked her because she did Victoria and Sam and camp but other than that I think she’s very annoying. And I don’t like her personality.
@@brodiger When she licked a donut and put it back on the shelf and then said she hated America and Americans, that was all I needed to see to have the opinion I have of her. If she hates it here, she has the money to leave. She’s arrogant and thinks she’s all that. Plus, her voice, both speaking and singing, gets on my last nerve! I never really cared for “Victorious.” I watched a couple episodes here and there, but, I never got into it. As I got older and rewatched some of the Nick shows, like “iCarly,” I think a lot of them were actually pretty bad or just stupid.
I remember hearing about that Secret Talents of the Stars. I think I had watched enough American Idol by that point, so I didn't need to see another show like that. To think that host John O'Hurley passed on Celebrity Family Feud to do it. Instead of him, it was Al Roker at the helm.
I feel like I've seen clips of "Heil Honey I'm Home" as a fake TV show in another movie. It really sounds like a parody that's too dumb to be real.
The cartoons were public test screenings to see if the children liked it. Well we didn't.
What about Videos After Dark hosted by Bob Saget? It aired March 12, 2019 and went off after the first episode.
“Heil Honey” was cancelled . Gee I wonder why? 🙄
I've never heard of the MASH spinoffs (though in my defense, I am a 90's baby so they may had been gone way before, idk; But I also watched cartoons as a kid), but I'm sad to know that Radar's show of all of 'em was given this treatment. He was my fave of the MASH characters, just a guy who cared about animals and his fellow soldiers...He was honestly just an all around good guy and the fact they decided to give him of all people a depressing looking show really hurts. :(
Gee, all these shows had only 1 episode?! No wonder I never heard of them!!
4:34 anything can go wrong, and this bubsy pilot has went incredibly wrong in so many levels
I can think of quite a few shows that should've been cancelled after the pilot
"Trapper John, MD" is a separate and distinct adaptation of the "M*A*S*H" novel series. It's not connected to the "M*A*S*H" TV series.
I disagree - they definitely tried to present it as a continuation of M*A*S*H (with the premiere episode elliptically referencing the series with some framed photos on the wall of the 4077th - without the actors of course), and with Pernell Roberts replacing Wayne Rogers
7:28 just a vhs release available, no dvd release, and thats a good thing.
Spike TV's Alternate History (2011)
CBS actually passed on the pilot for WALTER and aired it as a special presentation. Like AfterMASH, it has never been repeated.
I believe "AfterM*A*S*H" limped along for a season and a half. I remember they re-did the opening credits twice, tried some cast changes and even had (a much older-looking) Gary Burghoff make a guest appearance.
@@joestrike8537 it tried to recapture what came before, but failed.
Is it still called cancel when the first episodes is technically just a pilot ?
The actress in Co -Ed Fever looked like Mary Crosby who was in a similar show at the time. Brothers and Sisters which lasted more than one episode.
Not even a Brian Bosworth turkey can top the ill-concieved Heil Honey I'm Home. 😫
One that was filmed but never aired was 1999s "Heat Vision and Jack" with Jack Black, Ben Stiller, and Owen Wilson as a wise cracking motorcycle (why not, right?). It's here on TH-cam if you are mildly curious.
Don't forget Ron Silver as "Himself".
Wait, you mean like "My Mother the Car," but with Jack Black as a motorcyle? What's next, "The Love-Matic Grandpa?"
@joestrike8537 Actually, Jack Black is a special forces guy and Owen Wilson is the motorcycle. But yeah, similar plot
This was a great list! I was surprised that there wasn’t a mention of Viva Laughlin, with Hugh Jackman and Melanie Griffith. But seeing some of these clips brought back memories of actually watching some of these. 😅
Viva Laughlin was cancelled after that tv-shows second episode. This list is for tv-shows that were cancelled after firs episode.
Never heard of any of them.
Probably a reason they were cancelled after one airing, people didn't watch.
Bubsy reminds me an awful lot of Poochie from The Simpsons😂!
That Adolf actor reminds me of a plump Jimmy Carr!😂😅
I never knew about Rosie Live, just as well.
Is it still called cancel when the first episodes is technically just a pilot ? Somewhere this a person who is trying not to brag that he played a baby Hasselhoff with chest hair 😅😂
2:25 I remember watching “Osbornes Reloaded” premiere. Only time I’ve ever seen a show canceled halfway into the episode. It was doomed from the start because there were dozens of local FOX affiliates that refused to air it because they thought it would be vulgar like the Osbornes reality show. Millions of people couldn’t watch it.
It happened in Australia as well.
"Australia's Funniest Home Videos" was pulled halfway through its first (and only) episode due to vulgarity.
The station owner demanded it be pulled while on air.
@@dhenderson1810 that’s interesting but also the station owner I guess wield power so it makes more sense. In America, there were a bunch of advertiser boycott happening that made them pull the show from the air.
Tv wasn’t allowed in Belgium until 1987? Ummm thats definitely NOT true at all. Does watchmojo do any real research? I’ve seen numerous videos where they have the information completely wrong.
didn't they say commercial programming, not tv?
Learn English, they clearly said commercial tv.
Working It. Also, never heard of Walter and never wanted to.
Sad that the Ford brothers suck that much that they made the list
I remember "South of Sunset!"
I feel like "Turn On" could've been popular had it been shown at a later time. I wonder if it was the American response to Monty Python's Flying Circus, which came out the same year.
Turn On was probably just slightly ahead of its time. Given the short attention span of a lot of people these days, it might have thrived a decade or so later.
@@PlanetHouston - Funny thing... the premise of Turn-On (transgressive sketch comedy against a stark white background) would later be revived in 1994 in a Comedy Central show called "Limboland", which managed to go a full season before being canned.
How many episodes of Skating with Celebrities were there?
A Canadian show with Rob and Doug.
I'm not supporting any of these shows but the first episode and season of Parks and Rec was pretty awful. The 2nd season it came into their own. Shows should be given time to work out the kinks.
Agreed - quite a few series were given that opportunity - "Seinfeld," "Babylon 5" and "Star Trek TNG" definitely fall into that category
