you say in the description that mario games are "middling" works of art which i don't agree with, sure mario games don't have deep complex narratives, but i believe there is artistry in all aspects of a game, like its level design, music, character designs and overall presentation. there is a form of artistry in that which is don't think is necessarily lesser than other forms of art.
I just want to point out, the sofa video got 10000% more views than this has so far. People just refuse to look directly at the character of their icons
I recall Toad is supposed to be his best friend, if not it is Yoshi. Mario does need to rescue the Toad Retainers. Isn't just Mario but Luigi is there as well, people often neglect the Bros. part of the game. When it comes to Peach rescuing Peach and Mario haven't met since they were young. The enemies aren't usually trying to kill Mario. Bowser isn't a dragon.
@@Eris1987 "dragon" could be a biological classification, like turtle or homo sapien. You could argue that fire breathing turtle is very dragon like in this sense but it's certianly up for debate. Alternatively, "dragon" could be more of a literary trope/ classification. In this second sense, bowser is 100% a dragon
@natedansereau in universe and in descriptions Bowser is only ever called a turtle and I have found a lack of anything about him being a dragon in any source, let alone described as dragon-like. It is a thing that mostly comes from the fan community. Bowser is well a turtle and falls under this categorization alongside other turtles within the Mario world. Koopas(NokoNokos not Koopas), Spikes, Spinys, Bros., Lakitus, Buzzy Beetles, Sea Turtles, etc. Meanwhile in-universe the word dragon is applied to well actually dragons like the Hooktail. In addition it is applied to Yoshies and Dorrie. Note Yoshi is a dinosaur and Dorrie is a marine reptile distantly related to dinosaurs. Yoshies can't breath fire unless they eat a Red Shell in SMB4SMW or eat a Magic Flower. Yoshies also don't have wings either unless they use a power-up or eat a Blue Shell in SMB4SMW. Dorries don't fly or breathe fire. So dragon in the Mario world is a broad term that refers to various reptiles, but isn't applied to turtles.
@@Eris1987 I don't live in the Mario world though. So I can't play by those rules. Mario exists in our universe, otherwise we wouldn't be talking about it. Anything learned exclusively in the scope of "Mario's Universe" is too limited for my personal taste.
This is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect from this channel after the couch video
Great video man! I sat on my favorite couch to watch it!
The inclusion of the Lego Movie as one of the historical classics is perfect.
