My Uncle Howard was USMC, killed in combat, Korea, age 19. My dad was USAF, survived combat tours Korea & Vietnam. I am just a USAF brat, born on Okinawa. My dad was a fine fellow, my Uncle Howard I never got to meet him. He was KIA years before my birth. My dad was career USAF and a fantastic father that also raised me & my four sisters. Carrol B. Freeman also tried to teach me tolerance and I try to follow his example. However, although I never heard my dad say as such, I have no doubt that during his 20 year + military career he thought to himself: God damn United States Air Force.
This scene stuck with me for my entire 20+ years in the Army and all the bs that came with it. Brought a smile to my face every time.
Yep.
