    It's a brilliant to use those cards. I will make my color reference album and use for the future. I'm just discovered your works and love forward to watch more. Thank you!!

    I would love if you could explain to us hues, values, tones, saturation, etc. in a video if you ever feel so inclined.

    Great tutorial, thanks.
    Do you ever use what are called "equiluminescent" colors where they are different hues and chromas but the same tonal values? So if you put them next to each other on a canvas they would look like different colors and form an edge against each other, but if you took a black and white photo of them they would blend together into the exact same grey value.
    The impressionists apparently used this method a lot. It creates a pretty interesting visual effect where the colors shimmer next to each other.

      Yes, especially variations in warm and cool. It'a great way to increase the luminosity. 👍

      equiluminescent ?, is it the same as what is called broken color, I wonder

    • @RobertF-
      @RobertF- 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gretheangen6723 I think so, but I'm not 100% sure.

    Thank you. I am not colour savvy so the most helpful takeaway tips from this are to sneak up on a colour not expecting to nail it first time and to keep asking yourself "Is it too light or dark?", "Is it too warm or cool?", "Is it too saturated or not saturated enough?"

    thank you!! i feel like the only thing i was missing when it came to oil paintings was color matching.. i'll paint portraits but they'll look slightly off because of my color mixing/matching

    You can buy a "rotating color wheel" at art stores to help mix colors....but he has it all in his brain through years of experience.

    to me its way harder to determine warm or cool in some colors than the value.
